Episode: “Prisoner to Prime Minister”
After interpreting Pharaoh’s dreams, Joseph’s status moves from prisoner to the #2 position in Egypt. Yeshua’s sacrifice ushered in global salvation and the Holy Spirit. Rabbi Jeremy Gimpel reports on Voice of Israel radio.
Series: “Joseph: Dreamer/Redeemer”
Perhaps more than any of the patriarchs in the Bible, Joseph presents us with a clear preview of the Redeemer, Yeshua Ha Mashiach. From his humble beginnings to his ascendancy as a leader of the known world, Joseph pictures the One to come. Born to humble parents, Yeshua’s suffering and ultimate sacrifice as the Lamb of God will lead to His return as the Lion of Judah. In this nine-part series, we lay bare the “Egyptian” (foreign) identity and centuries-long gentile view of Jesus and reveal Him as the Jewish Messiah and Savior of the world.

  • 00:31 From the pit to the palace,
  • 00:34 from certain death to abundant life,
  • 00:38 Joseph...the Patriarch
  • 00:40 who pictures Messiah.
  • 00:52 Shalom and welcome to our program. I'm Myles Weiss
  • 00:55 And I'm Katharine Weiss
  • 00:56 and we want to welcome you to "Joseph - Dreamer / Redeemer".
  • 01:00 Myles I love the story of Joseph
  • 01:02 because I know that all of us have gone through maybe a setback or two
  • 01:06 or people have done things to hurt us and we found ourself in a place of delay.
  • 01:12 The Scripture talks in Proverbs,
  • 01:17 Well Joseph could have had a heartsick moment for two years left still in the prison.
  • 01:22 But God had a divine transfer that he was getting ready to bring Joseph for.
  • 01:26 We really see that in the failure of the wise men so-called.
  • 01:30 The occult magic of Pharaoh failed him.
  • 01:32 And we also see that God is working in Pharaoh's life.
  • 01:35 It says in the Hebrew,
  • 01:36 (Speaking Hebrew)
  • 01:40 Like streams of water, the heart of the king is in the hands of the LORD.
  • 01:44 So let's go to our story now as we see Joseph being brought to Pharaoh for the first time.
  • 01:51 For Joseph this day started like every other day.
  • 01:55 He would oversee his fellow prisoners with diligence and grace.
  • 01:59 But he would soon have an unforeseen encounter that would change his life forever.
  • 02:05 On this day he would meet face to face with the ruler of all Egypt...
  • 02:11 the mighty Pharaoh
  • 02:13 who is deeply perturbed and in search of answers.
  • 02:19 Pharaoh has had 2 unusual dreams that trouble him.
  • 02:23 He gathers his wisest sages.
  • 02:27 But none can provide an interpretation.
  • 02:30 Seeing his master's dilemma, the cupbearer recalls
  • 02:33 the Hebrew who had accurately interpreted his own dream,
  • 02:38 and that of the unfortunate baker.
  • 02:41 He informs Pharaoh of his time in prison
  • 02:44 and of the one who predicted that he would be restored to his office as cupbearer.
  • 02:50 Pharaoh's personal sages had proven to be incompetent.
  • 02:55 Perhaps this Hebrew from Canaan could share his Godly wisdom.
  • 03:00 Hoping to find relief regardless of the source
  • 03:04 Pharaoh calls for Joseph to be brought before him.
  • 03:14 We're here on the Mount of Olives
  • 03:16 standing in front of an olive tree
  • 03:18 As you know Gethsemene is in this area.
  • 03:20 And it's somewhere near here
  • 03:21 where Yeshua agonized before going to the cross.
  • 03:25 We love the olive tree,
  • 03:26 the picture that it is
  • 03:28 of Jew and Gentile together
  • 03:30 Worshipping the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
  • 03:33 You know, the story of Joseph really is the beginning of that
  • 03:36 as we're going to see the counsel that comes through
  • 03:40 a Hebrew to the Gentile world.
  • 03:43 And then knitting together that begins and is challenged throughout the centuries.
  • 03:47 But we know the story of Joseph is so much about suffering
  • 03:51 and the triumph to come.
  • 03:53 Yes, you know there is a jogging of the memory of the cupbearer
  • 03:56 due to the Pharaoh's dream.
  • 03:58 He had a very disturbing dream.
  • 04:00 And there was no one that was able to interpret it.
  • 04:02 And it was the cupbearer that said, Oh there's this Hebrew that I know
  • 04:06 that interpreted my dream and it came to pass.
  • 04:08 Why don't we get him?
  • 04:10 So after 2 years Joseph was released from the prison.
  • 04:14 They quickly shaved him
  • 04:15 because we know a Semite was likely to have a full beard
  • 04:19 and so they presented him in clean clothing and his shaved beard
  • 04:23 and he came before Pharaoh in the most presentable way he could.
  • 04:28 But he did not have fear of man when he spoke to Pharaoh.
  • 04:32 He actually interpreted Pharaoh's dream with honesty and with wisdom.
  • 04:37 That's good.
  • 04:39 You know the Egyptians then give Joseph an Egyptian name,
  • 04:47 So they recognize that he is the one sent by God
  • 04:51 to reveal the secrets that the Pharaoh is dealing with.
  • 04:54 And then he's going to be set at the right hand of the Pharaoh.
  • 04:57 Does that not look forward to Yeshua coming up out of the grave
  • 05:01 going to the right hand of the Father?
  • 05:03 It's such a parallel with the exultation that is going to happen in Yeshua 's life
  • 05:08 as the suffering servant who becomes the Savior of the world
  • 05:11 and Mashiach to the Jewish people.
  • 05:14 And that's what we see here with Joseph.
  • 05:16 He's going to be placed next to Pharaoh
  • 05:18 who's considered a god; small g.
  • 05:21 And he's going to speak for " ha-Elohim ", the real "One True God".

  • 07:19 And behind them seven other ears
  • 07:22 shriveled up by the wind.
  • 08:50 There's so many parallels with the life of Yeshua .
  • 08:52 It's amazing!
  • 08:53 That's why we wanted to bring you this story.
  • 08:55 Joseph's story speaks of the suffering and then the exaltation.
  • 09:00 Yeshua 's story is one of suffering and exaltation.
  • 09:03 He comes as the Suffering Servant.
  • 09:04 He returns as the Lion of the tribe of Judah.
  • 09:07 Even the parallel in the bride that is given to Joseph.
  • 09:10 Joseph is given an Egyptian bride.
  • 09:12 What a picture of the international church.
  • 09:15 Every tongue and every tribe, people from every nation
  • 09:19 are being called out in this church age and being knit to the Jewish bridegroom of heaven.
  • 09:25 What a story.
  • 09:26 And now at the end of the age God has his eye
  • 09:29 back on his own brethren, his own Jewish people, the natural seed of Abraham.
  • 09:33 And we are recognizing Yeshua in greater numbers than any time since the book of Acts.
  • 09:39 God is saying he is with his people even in a time of suffering.
  • 09:45 We'll fast forward when Joseph says, you meant it for evil, to his brothers,
  • 09:51 but God meant it for good.
  • 09:53 And I believe that it is through these times where he's beginning
  • 09:56 to see through his life being brought to Egypt,
  • 10:00 that God was going to save not only the 12 tribes, not only the Israelites
  • 10:05 but he was going to make a provision for the whole world,
  • 10:08 for Egypt in the time of famine that was to come.
  • 10:11 God is a God of mercy
  • 10:12 and he makes a plan
  • 10:14 and he has a way
  • 10:15 even in the hardest circumstances.
  • 10:17 And we brothers and sisters need to hold on to that in the times that are ahead of us
  • 10:21 that God has a provision for us
  • 10:23 and God has a way for us to navigate in times of difficulty.
  • 10:27 That's good.
  • 10:29 You know that God provides for the whole world, Egypt the center of the world at the time.
  • 10:33 And then he's going to bring the Jewish people into that.
  • 10:35 Jacob and his sons are going to come into that provision.
  • 10:38 The only provision available to us on this earth is through Yeshua HaMachiach .
  • 10:42 That is the provision.
  • 10:43 That is what ends the famine.
  • 10:45 There's spiritual famine.
  • 10:46 There's earthly famine.
  • 10:48 Whatever the famine is,
  • 10:50 it's affected by, and positively affected by Yeshua , and contact with Yeshua .
  • 10:55 Joseph warns Pharaoh of a difficult time to come.
  • 10:58 Just as Christ, Yeshua , Jesus was the "true witness".
  • 11:02 He said, difficulties will come, but I have overcome the world.
  • 11:06 And he invites us into that loving relationship.
  • 11:09 And then the counsel is received.
  • 11:11 Pharaoh was so blessed, so blown away,
  • 11:14 he recognizes that Ruach HaKodesh , "Holy Spirit" is with Joseph
  • 11:19 just as the Holy Spirit is with Yeshua.
  • 11:22 And in Acts 10:38 we read that God has anointed him with Spirit and power.
  • 11:27 He answers Pharaoh with honesty
  • 11:29 and he answers him with the appropriate ability to have a plan.
  • 11:34 He actually gives him a business plan of how to bring this about in these last days.
  • 11:39 But I also want to encourage us really strongly to know
  • 11:42 that God is the God of forgiveness.
  • 11:45 And as Joseph moved forward he had to know that God was with him no matter what.
  • 11:51 And as we close this section I want to remind you as well.
  • 11:54 Think about what Joseph did.
  • 11:56 He had a word of knowledge from heaven
  • 11:58 and he had a word of wisdom for Pharaoh.
  • 12:00 So here's what God wants to do with us.
  • 12:02 I see it counseling all the time
  • 12:04 not because I'm something
  • 12:05 but because God is something.

  • 15:45 where the rulers of the synagogue were astonished at the wisdom that Yeshua had
  • 15:50 even as a young boy and then later as a man as well.
  • 15:54 So let's go to our story
  • 15:56 as we see Pharaoh and Joseph beginning to develop something
  • 16:01 that will become safety and redemption for the entire known world.
  • 17:18 Just as Joseph had foretold
  • 17:21 there were seven bountiful years in Egypt.
  • 17:24 Joseph, now second only to Pharaoh himself,
  • 17:28 insured that grain was stored as plentiful as the sand of the sea
  • 17:34 But then the famine...
  • 17:36 again, just as Joseph had foreseen.
  • 17:40 The storehouses are opened and provisions sold to all.
  • 17:45 But the famine reached beyond Egypt.
  • 17:47 And soon they would come from every nation to purchase grain from Joseph.
  • 17:57 Joseph is in the palace now.
  • 17:59 There's been quite a journey
  • 18:01 as he has been taken from the pit to the prison to the palace.
  • 18:04 But at thirty years old was the appointed time for him.
  • 18:07 The Word of the LORD tried him until that time.
  • 18:10 And God has now arrayed him not only with the wisdom that he needs to rule at this time
  • 18:16 and to bring salvation through this bread and through the grain

  • 21:22 and being in our holiest places in our own land.
  • 21:25 And for our viewers sake
  • 21:26 they need to know
  • 21:28 that it's been renamed.
  • 21:30 Now it's "Nablus"
  • 21:32 but it's Biblically the Heart of Israel.
  • 21:34 Yes, absolutely.
  • 21:35 When you think about
  • 21:36 Mount Gerizim and Mount Ebal.
  • 21:38 The reason why those two mountains were chosen
  • 21:39 was because in between those two mountains
  • 21:41 lies the ancient city of Shechem
  • 21:43 which is now called "Nablus".
  • 21:45 And it was called "Nablus" because the Roman Emperor
  • 21:48 called it "Naples" because it reminded him of a city in Italy.
  • 21:51 And because the Arabs of the Middle East can't pronounce the letter "P"
  • 21:55 they call it "Nablus" instead of "Neapolis".
  • 21:57 WOW...there's so much renaming that has gone on here,
  • 22:00 so much disinformation about the Jewish history and presence in the Land.
  • 22:04 One of the series we completed recently,
  • 22:06 we called "Zion Forever"
  • 22:08 because we want to establish the reality of the Jewish presence
  • 22:12 for thousands and thousands of years
  • 22:14 when this disinformation is going out and flooding America as well.
  • 22:17 You're really a part now of sending out the real story of what's going on here.
  • 22:21 Yeah, absolutely.
  • 22:23 The truth is that the base covenant that God has with the Jewish people
  • 22:27 isn't about the Bible at all.
  • 22:29 It's not about the prophets.
  • 22:30 It's not about the holidays.
  • 22:32 It's not about the rituals, laws or customs.
  • 22:34 Abraham had no law.
  • 22:35 It was before Sinai.
  • 22:37 Abraham's covenant with God, Jacob's covenant with God,
  • 22:40 our base covenant with God was the Land of Israel.
  • 22:43 That is such a profound, obvious statement and yet
  • 22:47 it's going over the heads certainly of secular people
  • 22:49 but I think even Christian people who believe and are trying to be faithful
  • 22:54 to the Bible to the best of their ability,
  • 22:56 they don't understand that.
  • 22:58 Because there's a movement even within Christianity now
  • 23:00 to refute the Jewish presence, Biblical right to the Lane.
  • 23:05 Well you can imagine that the enemy is really at tough work
  • 23:08 to refute the Biblical base covenant
  • 23:11 of God and his people if it is the Land of Israel.
  • 23:13 You can imagine why the world is obsessed now with dividing the Land of Israel,
  • 23:17 a land the size of New Jersey.
  • 23:20 They want to carve it up.
  • 23:21 Why? It's so small.
  • 23:23 But it's because they're not just attacking us politically,
  • 23:25 they're trying to attack the base covenant we have with God.
  • 23:28 That's good.
  • 23:30 The name changing, that's where we got "Palestine" correct?
  • 23:34 That's right.
  • 23:35 In the year 136 the Roman Emperor Hadrian came to Judea
  • 23:40 and crushed our final revolt for Jewish freedom.
  • 23:42 And he said, that's it.
  • 23:44 I'm going to erase Jewish memory from history.
  • 23:46 And I will change the name "Judea" in Israel to "Palestine"
  • 23:50 after the ancient enemies of the Jews, the Philistines.
  • 23:52 And from that moment on
  • 23:54 we've been calling the land of Israel "Palestine" for about 1,900 years.
  • 24:00 But right before that anyone that lived before the Roman Emperor Hadrian, of course,
  • 24:04 knew this is the land of Israel, the land of Judea.
  • 24:07 So the name changing,
  • 24:08 the disinformation,
  • 24:09 the revisionist history
  • 24:11 is everywhere.
  • 24:12 And now folks on the Temple Mount.
  • 24:16 Tell us about that.
  • 24:18 Well, the Temple Mount is of course the holiest place
  • 24:21 to the Jewish people in the world.
  • 24:23 Every synagogue around the world wherever it may be
  • 24:27 is constructed facing Jerusalem.
  • 24:29 And if you're in Jerusalem
  • 24:30 it's constructed facing the Temple Mount.
  • 24:33 For thousands of years the focus of all Jewish prayer has been the Temple Mount.
  • 24:37 That's where Abraham sacrificed Isaac.
  • 24:39 That's where we believe the whole universe was created from
  • 24:42 That is the connection of the heavenly realm and the earthly realm.
  • 24:46 It is God's footstool on earth.
  • 24:48 And Jews and Christians are not allowed to ascend the Temple Mount with a prayer book.
  • 24:53 They're not allowed to ascend the Temple Mount with a Bible.
  • 24:55 They're not allowed to ascend the Temple Mount and utter prayers.
  • 24:59 If you could imagine in a democracy
  • 25:01 where the cornerstone of democracy is freedom of religion
  • 25:04 Jews and Christians can't pray at our holiest site.
  • 25:07 It's outrageous.
  • 25:09 It is outrageous and a double standard that is seen
  • 25:12 I don't think anywhere else in the world
  • 25:14 where Israel is held to one standard
  • 25:16 and the rest of the world a completely different one.
  • 25:19 Well we talked about name changing.
  • 25:20 Why am I called a "Jew"?
  • 25:22 Many people think I'm called a Jew because we're from the tribe of Judah.
  • 25:25 But if you look in the Bible it's not true.
  • 25:27 Mordecai in the "Scroll of Esther" is called a Jew.
  • 25:29 Mordecai, the Jew.
  • 25:31 But he's from the tribe of Benjamin.
  • 25:33 So why are we called "Jews"?
  • 25:34 We're called "Jews" because we were from "Judea".
  • 25:37 Now imagine today Judea and Samaria where Shechem lies,
  • 25:41 is called "the West Bank".
  • 25:43 Now how easy is it to say,
  • 25:44 Oh you, you're occupying settlers of the West Bank.
  • 25:47 Get out!
  • 25:48 Imagine if they said, "Jews" get out of "Judea"
  • 25:51 That'd be a lot harder.
  • 25:53 We'd be like what? Jews get out Judea?
  • 25:56 I'm a Jew because I'm from Judea.
  • 25:58 This is my land.
  • 26:00 And so the misinformation and the name changing has confused the entire world.
  • 26:06 Strong words from Rabbi Jeremy.
  • 26:09 You know we fully agree with this testimony
  • 26:13 that the changing of names and the re-writing of history,
  • 26:16 and the attempt through propaganda
  • 26:18 to wipe out the Jewish history in the land
  • 26:20 is destructive not only to Israel and the Jewish people
  • 26:23 but to the cause of anyone who believes in truth.
  • 26:27 And so we really need to continue this program.
  • 26:30 Programs like this and what Jeremy is doing to bring the truth to the world at large.
  • 26:34 Just as Joseph was able to bring the truth to Pharaoh
  • 26:37 and showed him the things that were coming.
  • 26:39 Right and Pharaoh had the dream
  • 26:41 And God was quickening even the king of that time to awaken us.
  • 26:45 I keep hearing in my heart Myles
  • 26:46 People get ready, people ready.
  • 26:49 You know God has a plan for us in hard times and in good times.
  • 26:52 And in good times it's to work hard
  • 26:55 so we'll be prepared for the hard times
  • 26:57 so God will have a supply for us and those that the world might need.
  • 27:01 So there is a season for each time of our life that we're in.
  • 27:06 And this is the time for us to preach the Gospel,
  • 27:09 share the Good News
  • 27:10 and be ready to give an answer.
  • 27:11 Yes, and that is why we like to end our program with this
  • 27:16 strong but pleasant reminder for you,
  • 27:18 Sha'alu Shalom Yerushalayim .
  • 27:20 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
