  • 00:08 with issues you might want to know about.
  • 00:10 And we're going to be talking and tackling
  • 00:12 some of the issues around the current conflict in Iran.
  • 00:15 So stay with us.
  • 00:34 Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel
  • 00:38 is that they might be saved,
  • 00:41 for there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek
  • 00:44 for the same Lord over all
  • 00:46 is rich unto all that call upon Him.

  • 01:03 And I'm Katharine Weiss.
  • 01:04 And we want to welcome you to our program today.
  • 01:06 We're answering some letters.
  • 01:08 So let's hear from one of these letters, Myles.
  • 01:09 Well, this is a really important issue.
  • 01:11 A while ago we had Dr. Hormoz Shariat on our program.
  • 01:16 You might remember him.
  • 01:17 He is an Iranian Christian
  • 01:20 who preaches the Gospel every evening into Iran.
  • 01:23 And we had a wonderful program with him.
  • 01:25 But then we were on his program.
  • 01:28 So we received this letter...
  • 01:54 She goes on to talk about the lack of that kind of teaching today.
  • 01:57 And Iran, formerly known as Persia
  • 02:01 and Israel always known as Israel,
  • 02:03 have had an incredible history together in the
  • 02:07 wonderful history of cooperation
  • 02:10 that was part of the ancient day
  • 02:13 is also coming back in certain ways right now
  • 02:15 in spite of the difficulty
  • 02:17 with the current Iranian government.
  • 02:20 There is an up swell of
  • 02:22 Christian salvation in Iran.
  • 02:24 Some people say that it is even growing faster
  • 02:28 as a Christian nation than China
  • 02:30 which is growing exponentially.
  • 02:32 And so what this means is that
  • 02:34 there's a groundswell in the people
  • 02:37 about the relationships that they
  • 02:40 want to have with other nations
  • 02:42 and for our sake especially with Israel.
  • 02:44 Yeah, well they want...
  • 02:46 the people of Iran want something different
  • 02:49 than the regime that they've been given.
  • 02:51 Especially the next generation.
  • 02:54 And they even protested in the streets,
  • 02:56 and they demonstrated that they do not want Sharia Law.
  • 02:59 You know I think one of the things that makes my heart sad
  • 03:03 is how the women are treated in Islam.
  • 03:06 And it's so much the opposite of God's heart
  • 03:11 or what Jesus came to do,
  • 03:13 is to elevate the role of a woman.
  • 03:15 Even in Ephesians it talks about...
  • 03:17 in Ephesians 5 it talks about...
  • 03:23 And the whole meaning of Christianity
  • 03:25 is sacrificial love for one another,
  • 03:28 not a brow beating, or you're less than me,
  • 03:33 you walk behind me,
  • 03:34 you put a veil over your face,
  • 03:35 you can't drive.
  • 03:37 And I'm saying these things because I think that the women...
  • 03:40 we as women need to speak up for the women that can't speak.
  • 03:45 We need to love them, of course.
  • 03:47 We need to pray for them.
  • 03:49 But we need to be their voice.
  • 03:50 ...as well.
  • 03:51 Yeah, and Hormoz said that to us.
  • 03:54 Before we went on the program
  • 03:56 he said, Myles, they'll be listening to your words,
  • 03:58 but they'll be looking at your marriage.
  • 04:00 Because they are gathering in homes
  • 04:02 and sometimes a crowd of people will gather around the television
  • 04:06 essentially asking, What must I do to be saved?
  • 04:08 And remember they're coming out of Sharia,
  • 04:11 they're coming out of Islam.
  • 04:12 Some of them are not radically Islamic
  • 04:15 but there's a lot of that culture that is theocratic and strong.
  • 04:19 And they're watching for the marriage to see
  • 04:22 how do they relate to each other?
  • 04:23 How are we relating to each other?
  • 04:26 And watching for what looks like something new and different
  • 04:30 because they know that they don't want what's been,
  • 04:33 they want what's coming
  • 04:34 which is the Lord Jesus.
  • 04:36 And He brings love.
  • 04:37 Yeshua , Christ, is Love.
  • 04:39 Right and they're is something to be said
  • 04:42 that there is a new, fresh outpouring of God's Spirit
  • 04:46 that's happening in the Churches that are underground
  • 04:49 because they're thriving and
  • 04:50 they're reaching for something outside of...
  • 04:53 that only God can do.
  • 04:55 You know, they're gathering in their homes.
  • 04:56 People are getting healed.
  • 04:57 People are getting delivered.
  • 04:59 And marriages are getting... saved together.
  • 05:00 But then there has to be this teaching.
  • 05:03 So that's why teaching is so important because
  • 05:05 teaching renews the mind so that you're
  • 05:07 not acting out of a past hurt or a
  • 05:10 past way that you saw your father treat your mother
  • 05:13 but you're treating one another as God intended, you know,
  • 05:18 the Golden Rule.
  • 05:20 And that's the way that we have that
  • 05:24 harmony one with another, that equality.
  • 05:27 But we have specific roles,
  • 05:29 but we are definitely...
  • 05:31 Love and forgiveness.
  • 05:32 Yeah
  • 05:34 And I require a lot of forgiveness
  • 05:35 so that works for me.
  • 05:37 You know, before we went on the air I was...
  • 05:39 And my Hebrew name is " Mordecai "
  • 05:41 And Mordecai plays an pertinent part in the history...
  • 05:44 I'm named after a hero of the faith
  • 05:46 in the history of the Jewish people
  • 05:49 in the story of Esther
  • 05:50 which is centered in Persia
  • 05:51 where Esther was raised up to stand for her Jewish people
  • 05:55 and save them, much as God has now through
  • 05:57 programs like ours awakening the Church
  • 06:00 to stand for Christians around the world that are being persecuted
  • 06:04 and the Jewish people who are pretty much standing alone
  • 06:07 accept for people of faith who will stand with us.
  • 06:10 And so I was taken to Esther 4:14,
  • 06:13 one of our favorite Scriptures.
  • 06:15 But I just had begun using this "Tree of Life" Bible.
  • 06:19 And the way it's spoken here...
  • 06:21 I've always heard it as...
  • 06:22 "Who knows whether you've been brought into the kingdom
  • 06:24 for such a time as this?"
  • 06:25 That's Modecai speaking to Esther.
  • 06:27 But here's how it says it here...
  • 06:35 And out of that, as we were talking about the role
  • 06:38 of Israel and the relation between Israel and Iran
  • 06:41 God gave me a specific exhortation
  • 06:44 for the new Christians.
  • 06:46 And I said, You are being called as a royalty.
  • 06:50 You are being called with royal stature within your country
  • 06:54 above and beyond that which you may have known in the past
  • 06:57 as you've given your lives to Christ,
  • 06:59 as you've given your lives to Yeshua
  • 07:01 you are being called as royalty
  • 07:03 and God is going to raise you up
  • 07:04 like Hadassah, like a star within that country.
  • 07:08 And it was very encouraging to see
  • 07:09 the reaction from Hormoz and his wife.
  • 07:12 Right...and a star
  • 07:13 meaning God was going to use them as a signpost
  • 07:16 to affect their whole culture.
  • 07:19 You know, whether it be your family or your extended family
  • 07:22 or your sphere of influence,
  • 07:24 you know, God wants us to remember that we are His royal priesthood,
  • 07:28 a chosen generation.
  • 07:30 And we are to declare the goodness of God.
  • 07:33 And so let's pray for Iran.
  • 07:35 Let's pray for the people of Iran.
  • 07:37 You know, let's see if we can't get the
  • 07:40 deal that our government had...
  • 07:43 see if we can't get that undone.
  • 07:45 But that's a prayer point for all of us to pray about.
  • 07:48 It's not something so political, but
  • 07:50 it's something to pray about.
  • 07:51 I mean Esther said, Let's fast.
  • 07:54 There was an edict...
  • 07:56 there was an edict of death for all Jews to die.
  • 08:00 And so she took a stand through fasting and prayer.
  • 08:04 And you know, really that is our call,
  • 08:07 to take that same kind of stand.
  • 08:09 You know, there's a very difficult season coming for Iran
  • 08:13 in the midst of these decisions that they're making.
  • 08:15 And the Church in Iran, the underground Church there,
  • 08:19 which Dr. Shariat is a big part of teaching.
  • 08:22 They understand that.
  • 08:25 If you look in Jeremiah 49
  • 08:27 you will see some incredible prophesies
  • 08:30 that have yet to be fulfilled
  • 08:31 about Elam, which is an ancient name of Persia.
  • 08:34 And it says...
  • 08:37 That means that there's going to come destruction.
  • 08:40 There's going to be difficulty for the Iranian people,
  • 08:42 then He will scatter them.
  • 08:44 And the Christians there believe that they're going to be sent out
  • 08:47 from Iran with the Gospel to the whole world.
  • 08:50 What an amazing turn of events
  • 08:52 that in the midst of conflict and war and difficulty
  • 08:54 they're looking for the time to come
  • 08:57 when they will be sent out to spread the Gospel
  • 09:00 in preparation for the return of the Lord.
  • 09:02 And it's such a mind-blowing opposite
  • 09:06 to what's happening currently politically.
  • 09:08 There's another layer to all of this
  • 09:10 behind the politics of this world,
  • 09:12 behind the headlines
  • 09:14 is the prophetic Word of God.
  • 09:16 And this Word is going to come to pass.
  • 09:19 So, they're looking for that difficult time, being scattered,
  • 09:22 and being drawn into conflict with Israel.
  • 09:25 In the midst of that the Gospel is going to go forth.
  • 09:29 So, we do need to pray for Iran.

  • 19:53 I just give you a little exhortation,
  • 19:55 don't let fear keep you back from an amazing blessing.
  • 19:59 So we would love to host you.
  • 20:00 You will be safe.
  • 20:02 And we will have a wonderful time in the Land.
  • 20:05 That's a good word you know.
  • 20:07 Some people do hold back because of that reason.
  • 20:10 But I never feel safer than when I am in Israel.
  • 20:12 The security is amazing
  • 20:14 and the tourism is protected and
  • 20:17 I just feel like it would be tragic for you to not have
  • 20:22 this bucket list item come to reality in your life.
  • 20:25 So we encourage you to get in touch with us
  • 20:28 at levitt.com or 1-800-WONDERS
  • 20:31 And come with us to the Land of the Covenant.
  • 20:33 It's wonderful.
  • 20:36 So - let's go back to our letters.
  • 20:38 This is a difficult one to read...
  • 20:57 So let me just start by saying
  • 20:59 that Israel, like any other nation in the world has
  • 21:02 different strata of society.
  • 21:04 Some people are thriving and the economy is booming.
  • 21:07 Other people are in more difficult straights.
  • 21:09 The ultra-Orthodox who often live on welfare are in difficult times.
  • 21:14 Sometimes the Arab Israelis are having difficulty and
  • 21:17 sometimes it's the Russian...
  • 21:20 Holocaust Survivors
  • 21:21 the Holocaust Survivors, Russian immigrants
  • 21:23 But there's a difference between addressing these things effectively and
  • 21:29 dramatizing them into the level of catastrophe that is for personal gain.
  • 21:35 There's one group that shows pictures of crying Russian immigrants
  • 21:41 and is always fundraising.
  • 21:43 They raise 150 million dollars per year
  • 21:46 which I've been told is more than all the
  • 21:48 Messianic, Bible teaching life giving ministries combined
  • 21:53 have around the world.
  • 21:54 So I don't know if the numbers exactly
  • 21:56 but I do know that we don't want to be
  • 21:59 manipulated by the urgency.
  • 22:01 We want to be affective in the way that we give,
  • 22:04 in the way that we help those in need in Israel.
  • 22:06 Well, I love what you said, Myles
  • 22:08 is that in any society there are issues,
  • 22:10 there are people that have come over.
  • 22:12 They don't know the language or...
  • 22:14 so we do need to be compassionate.
  • 22:16 And there's so many places...
  • 22:19 I think what Myles is saying is make sure that your money
  • 22:21 is going to places that promote the Gospel,
  • 22:23 Yes
  • 22:24 not just the food which is needed
  • 22:27 and we do have ministries that support feeding programs.
  • 22:32 But the Gospel is so important because
  • 22:35 these people need to know where they're going,
  • 22:38 what is eternity about for them.
  • 22:40 Exactly, and so the ministries that we support both through
  • 22:44 ZLM and our personal works is that we want to be
  • 22:48 with those that are bringing the Word along with the help.
  • 22:50 So there's social work but there's also the Gospel going forward.
  • 22:54 Because ultimately that is the most important issue.
  • 22:57 And, you know Israel is God's nation.
  • 23:00 It's not a perfect nation.
  • 23:02 It doesn't have a perfect government.
  • 23:04 They haven't fixed everything cause
  • 23:07 it's not eternity, its' not heaven.
  • 23:09 It is a pretty well run machine.
  • 23:12 Yeah, it's a beautiful country.
  • 23:14 But yeah, it's important for us to be givers.
  • 23:16 We are to help the poor and
  • 23:18 just make sure you do it effectively
  • 23:20 and make sure the Gospel is with it.
  • 23:22 Let's move on to this next question.
  • 23:24 I like the way it starts...
  • 23:33 Then he goes into some difficulty he has and some doctrinal issues
  • 23:36 and asks about the 7th day Sabbath groups...
  • 23:49 and the ongoing controversy.
  • 23:53 And so I thank you for your letter.
  • 23:55 This came from R.A.I.
  • 23:57 I thank you for that letter.
  • 23:59 And I would say that...
  • 24:01 I'm always intrigued to hear the different stands on this issue.
  • 24:04 You know, that some people are convinced
  • 24:07 that if you don't keep the commandments
  • 24:10 including the 7th day commandment
  • 24:12 that you're missing something in the Lord.
  • 24:14 Others are flexible about it.
  • 24:17 Some don't even know that there is such an issue.
  • 24:19 Churches meet on Sunday,
  • 24:21 they meet on Saturday morning,
  • 24:22 they meet on Friday evening.
  • 24:23 I think that the bottom line is that
  • 24:26 is this bringing me closer to Yeshua ?
  • 24:30 Does having a firm stand on this issue
  • 24:32 and looking down on those who don't meet on the same day as me.
  • 24:36 Is that bringing me closer to Jesus.
  • 24:38 I like the way it says in the Scripture...
  • 24:51 I think any day is a good day to worship God.
  • 24:53 Yeah, there is something to be said about keeping a Sabbath day.
  • 24:59 "A" Sabbath
  • 25:00 A Sabbath day cause Myles and I travel so much
  • 25:03 that you can't always be...
  • 25:06 you can't have your Sabbath always on a Saturday
  • 25:09 or always on a Sunday.
  • 25:11 That's good.
  • 25:12 But we make sure to have a Sabbath day
  • 25:16 where you honor the Lord.
  • 25:18 It's one of His commandments to honor Him
  • 25:20 and to just kind of dial down everything else
  • 25:23 that would over stimulate you as far as electronics or information.
  • 25:28 Enjoy nature, enjoy each other,
  • 25:30 enjoy your relationships.
  • 25:32 enjoy your family.
  • 25:33 Take time to be with God.
  • 25:36 Yeah, it reminds me of when were in the archeological
  • 25:39 digs under the City of David.
  • 25:41 And I learned about Strabo, the Roman Historian
  • 25:45 who was sent by Rome to see the wonder of this far off place
  • 25:49 and report back.
  • 25:51 And he came back with 3 things.
  • 25:53 Now remember, Rome was a slave holding culture.
  • 25:56 So the machine ran 24/7.
  • 25:58 There was no such thing as a Sabbath.
  • 26:00 They just ran that thing until the people died.
  • 26:02 Well Strabo came back to Rome and he said,
  • 26:05 I have seen 3 wonders.
  • 26:06 I saw a sea in which you could not drown...
  • 26:09 the Dead Sea.
  • 26:10 I saw a building more beautiful than the buildings of Rome...
  • 26:13 the Temple.
  • 26:14 And I saw a people who rested one day per week.
  • 26:19 That Sabbath rest was the picture
  • 26:22 that Katharine's speaking of
  • 26:23 that we are enjoying to find a Sabbath.
  • 26:27 I know our children say that I'm leisure challenged.
  • 26:29 So it's important for me especially
  • 26:31 to make sure that we find a day per week
  • 26:35 when we just let go and let God.
  • 26:38 So we want to encourage you to do that as well.
  • 26:40 And as far as worshipping on Saturday or Sunday
  • 26:43 ultimately I believe that every day is a good day to worship the Lord.
  • 26:48 Amen?
  • 26:49 Amen.
  • 26:51 So we just want to remind you as we leave
  • 26:55 that God is interested in us being connected to the life of Israel,
  • 27:01 connected to the future of Israel,
  • 27:03 connected to the Body of Messiah in Israel,
  • 27:06 working with the Arab Christians in Israel,
  • 27:08 building up the faith of the people,
  • 27:10 being a blessing to the people there.
  • 27:13 Yeah
  • 27:14 And so we always leave our program
  • 27:15 by reminding you from Psalm 122:6
  • 27:19 Sha'a'lu Shalom Yerushalayim
  • 27:21 Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem
