  • 00:10 ♪♪♪ David Hart: We are so glad you've joined us today on
  • 00:12 "Our Jewish Roots."
  • 00:13 Our program today is a little intense.
  • 00:16 Stay with us because there's a lot of content with you guys.
  • 00:20 We welcome you today.
  • 00:22 Kirsten Hart: And you've--I'm just gonna say,
  • 00:23 you've aired this before.
  • 00:24 This has been on--you have a social media program,
  • 00:26 "Bearded Bible Brothers."
  • 00:28 No idea where you got that title from.
  • 00:29 David: Yeah, I don't get it.
  • 00:31 Kirsten: But this is--we're talking about Adam.
  • 00:33 But something we don't really hear in the church, like,
  • 00:35 first Adam, last Adam.
  • 00:36 Last Adam?
  • 00:38 Joshua Colson: Yes, so when Yeshua, the great teacher,
  • 00:40 was flying off, right, and he leaned down and he said
  • 00:43 the last thing he said: "Go out, cast out devils,
  • 00:46 heal people in my name, tell them what I did."
  • 00:49 He made us the hall monitors on earth,
  • 00:51 by giving us his authority.
  • 00:53 It's our authority to go out there and to make these things
  • 00:55 happen, and he expects us to exercise that.
  • 00:57 Caleb Colson: That's right.
  • 00:59 So what you're about to see is the teaching we did
  • 01:00 on the last Adam.
  • 01:02 Who are you in Messiah and how do you gain his authority?
  • 01:05 You're not gonna wanna miss this.
  • 01:08 Joshua: Yes, hey, everybody, I'm Joshua.
  • 01:11 Caleb: And I'm Caleb. Joshua: We're brothers.
  • 01:13 Caleb: And today we would like to talk to you
  • 01:14 about the last Adam.
  • 01:16 Joshua: Wait a minute, last Adam?
  • 01:18 That sounds like a wicked cool movie.
  • 01:21 "In a world where the first Adam failed,
  • 01:24 can the last Adam prevail?"
  • 01:27 Caleb: That would be completely awesome.
  • 01:30 But it's also scriptural.
  • 01:31 In the Bible, 1 Corinthians 15:45: "So it is written:
  • 01:35 'The first Adam became a living being';
  • 01:37 the last Adam, a life-giving spirit.
  • 01:39 The first man was of the dust of the earth;
  • 01:42 the second man is of heaven.
  • 01:43 As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and
  • 01:47 as is the heavenly man, so are those who are of heaven.
  • 01:50 And just as we have borne the image of the earthly man, so
  • 01:54 shall we bear the image of the heavenly man."
  • 01:57 Joshua: But if we were--if we were here first and God made it
  • 02:00 for us, I know that Adam and Eve sinned but how did that
  • 02:03 translate to us not, you know, it being our fault?
  • 02:07 Caleb: Well, it's because with Adam and Eve, they were
  • 02:10 told not to eat of the fruit of the garden, Eve was deceived
  • 02:13 and ate the fruit.
  • 02:15 Adam knew what it was. He did it willingly.
  • 02:17 Sin came through the male genetic side.
  • 02:19 You know sin comes through the male seed,
  • 02:21 not through the woman's egg.
  • 02:23 Obviously, when Mary had Jesus, sin did not pass on to Yeshua.
  • 02:26 It came through the male side.
  • 02:29 And if Eve had just sinned, Adam could have been the kinsman
  • 02:32 redeemer and saved Eve and brought her back to the Father.
  • 02:36 Joshua: You're using big words again.
  • 02:38 I'm sorry, guys, he takes the SAT practice test,
  • 02:39 like, every weekend.
  • 02:41 What on earth is a kinsman redeemer?
  • 02:43 Is that like something from a Emily Bronte book?
  • 02:44 Caleb: It's like you're reading the story of Ruth and Boaz.
  • 02:46 A kinsman redeemer would save someone of their blood relative
  • 02:49 from harm, a distant relative they would claim a piece of
  • 02:51 property that they were next in line for.
  • 02:54 While we were related to Messiah, he became
  • 02:57 our kinsman redeemer for us.
  • 02:59 We are his children.
  • 03:01 And he sacrificed himself, he died, he came as the last Adam.
  • 03:06 But when he was resurrected, he became the second man, a new man
  • 03:10 that we can associate with but still in human form.
  • 03:14 He kept the holes in his hands and in his feet and the hole in
  • 03:17 his side so he could rule on earth someday as an Adam.
  • 03:21 It's amazing.
  • 03:23 Joshua: Now he identified with us and we know this.
  • 03:25 If you know the story of Yeshua, you know what he did for us.
  • 03:28 In 1 Peter 2:24, it says: "He himself bore our sins in his
  • 03:33 body on the tree, that we might die to sins and live for
  • 03:35 righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed."
  • 03:39 This is all physical terminology.
  • 03:40 These were physical things that Jesus went through.
  • 03:42 Caleb: That was amazing.
  • 03:44 Joshua: We face so many things in life that we feel that
  • 03:46 God in the sky is ambivalent towards.
  • 03:50 He's out there ruling the big things, but he doesn't
  • 03:52 understand how we feel.
  • 03:54 Yet, the Bible goes on and on and on and tells about how
  • 03:56 Yeshua faced every single situation, every single
  • 04:00 temptation, every pain, every joy, that you've been through.
  • 04:03 The idea that Yeshua does not identify with what you're
  • 04:08 feeling or going through is a lie from the enemy.
  • 04:10 That he wants you to believe because, right here,
  • 04:12 it says he did.
  • 04:14 Caleb: That's right, and in 1 Corinthians 15,
  • 04:17 we have that hope for the future that we're gonna be like
  • 04:19 the second man one day.
  • 04:21 We're gonna receive that glorified body that Yeshua
  • 04:23 received when he was resurrected, and when we do,
  • 04:26 death, hell and the grave, completely destroyed.
  • 04:29 He's already redeemed us from that fear of death.
  • 04:32 But the final victory comes with the Rapture, with that dominion
  • 04:37 taking over the earth, when Yeshua rules
  • 04:39 and reigns for 1000 years.
  • 04:41 Joshua: Keep in mind that original sin, that deception
  • 04:43 that hit Eve, that she gave into, and that willing choice
  • 04:46 that Adam made.
  • 04:48 That happened because their focus was in the wrong place.
  • 04:50 They allowed it to get shifted.
  • 04:52 Don't let the enemy rob you by shifting your focus onto
  • 04:54 yourself, onto self-pity, onto your situation and make you
  • 04:57 think you're alone and Yeshua had no idea or doesn't care or
  • 05:01 it's something you just have to overcome.
  • 05:04 He identifies with you, he knows where you've been and where
  • 05:06 you're going, and he has made a way for you to not only succeed
  • 05:10 but to overcome.
  • 05:12 Caleb: So thanks for joining us. You have a hope for a future.
  • 05:15 Stick with us and watch us next time.
  • 05:17 Joshua: In that cool movie, "The Last Adam."
  • 05:21 I wonder what they eat that time.
  • 05:22 Like, a watermelon, they're like, "Oh, this is naughty.
  • 05:25 I need seedless."
  • 05:27 It's not of God. Things have seeds.
  • 05:29 I don't know--science.
  • 05:31 Caleb: I lost you there, Josh. Joshua: Probably.
  • 05:34 Caleb: Once we understand Yeshua's role as the last Adam,
  • 05:39 we can step into our inherited roles as being his
  • 05:42 representatives on earth and taking back dominion from Satan.
  • 05:46 And we have to hold that dominion until Messiah returns.
  • 05:49 This next teaching is called "Bondage Versus Dominion"
  • 05:52 and it tells you what you need to do to be Yeshua's
  • 05:55 representative on earth.
  • 06:02 Caleb: Josh, what are you doing? Joshua: Spinning Fidgie.
  • 06:03 Joshua: It's what we do.
  • 06:05 Caleb: Let me do that. Hello, Fidgie.
  • 06:07 There we go. I'm Caleb.
  • 06:10 Joshua: I'm Joshua. How are you today, hm?
  • 06:13 You wearing these? Sure hope not.
  • 06:15 Caleb: Let me propose to you that in the spirit world, you
  • 06:17 are either in bondage or you're holding dominion.
  • 06:22 Joshua: Gah, how do you always get the key?
  • 06:23 Caleb: See, that seems to be the way things work, the way
  • 06:25 that God created things.
  • 06:27 Now, he intended for us, for man, to have dominion.
  • 06:30 He gave it to us in Genesis 1.
  • 06:33 He made the earth, all the animals and everything, all
  • 06:35 creation, and we had dominion over it.
  • 06:37 We took care of it.
  • 06:39 Joshua: Psalms 8:4 through 6, it says: "What is man that You
  • 06:41 are mindful of him.
  • 06:42 You have made him to have dominion over
  • 06:44 the works of Your hands."
  • 06:46 Oh, that, actually, is a nice metaphor, good job.
  • 06:49 Caleb: Well, Adam had dominion but
  • 06:52 he surrendered it to Satan.
  • 06:53 He took--Satan took it and he became the god of this world
  • 06:56 when he had that dominion.
  • 06:58 And that's a scary thing.
  • 06:59 How do we know that Satan took that dominion?
  • 07:01 Let's look in the Bible.
  • 07:03 When Satan came to Jesus in the wilderness and he was fasting
  • 07:06 and he was praying and Satan said, "All this authority I will
  • 07:11 give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me,
  • 07:16 and I give it to whomever I wish."
  • 07:18 Satan wanted Jesus to bow down and worship him, and he would
  • 07:21 give him all that dominion of the earth back, but Yeshua
  • 07:25 didn't do that, did he?
  • 07:26 Yeshua died to take dominion and then to give it to us.
  • 07:30 Joshua: I love that, you face an obstacle
  • 07:32 or a problem in life and you always
  • 07:34 try to face it head on, but Yeshua didn't do that.
  • 07:37 He didn't play by the devil's rules.
  • 07:39 That's what the devil tries to get
  • 07:40 you caught up in, in bondage.
  • 07:42 When you're in bondage, he gets you to try to play through these
  • 07:44 rules, just keep pulling on those handcuffs.
  • 07:46 But Yeshua said, "No."
  • 07:48 He said, "Here's how I'm gonna fix it.
  • 07:49 I'm gonna lay down my life. I'm gonna pay the price.
  • 07:51 Adam, my son, he did this? Okay, well, let me fix it then.
  • 07:55 I will pay the penalty for him and I will take dominion back
  • 07:58 and I'm gonna give it to 'em."
  • 08:00 Caleb: That's right, and so then when Yeshua,
  • 08:02 he went up to heaven, to prepare a place
  • 08:04 for us, he says, "Now you have my power, you have my authority,
  • 08:07 you have my dominion in my name."
  • 08:09 He literally gave us power of attorney on earth to be those
  • 08:11 people who can take dominion in his name, but if we don't
  • 08:16 believe that, if we don't exert his authority and dominion on
  • 08:20 this earth, Satan will just run rampant over our lives.
  • 08:23 It's up to us to halt Satan in his tracks.
  • 08:26 So if we see that there's something wrong going on in our
  • 08:29 earth, in the family, in our lives and our finances,
  • 08:33 and we're, "God, help us please.
  • 08:34 Why don't you save us?"
  • 08:36 He's saying, "I already gave you everything you need.
  • 08:38 I gave you dominion. Just exert your authority."
  • 08:41 Joshua: Remember, don't give the key away.
  • 08:43 Even if he's your brother. It's just a terrible idea.
  • 08:46 Use the authority you have.
  • 08:48 Stop begging for something that you already have.
  • 08:51 We love you guys, we want you to succeed.
  • 08:53 So does the Father, and that's why he paid the price for you.
  • 08:55 Caleb: That's right, and the Bible says in James:
  • 08:57 "Submit yourself therefore to God.
  • 08:59 Resist the devil and he will flee from you."
  • 09:02 Isn't that like God?
  • 09:03 To obtain dominion, you must submit to him.
  • 09:06 To be the greatest, you must first be the least.
  • 09:08 To be the master, you must be the servant,
  • 09:10 and to live you must die.
  • 09:12 Joshua: I'm totally hacking your Amazon
  • 09:14 so you can't order stuff anymore.
  • 09:16 Caleb: Can you break it?
  • 09:18 Joshua: I don't know if I can break it.
  • 09:19 It's breaking me. I'm old.
  • 09:20 Caleb: I thought he was strong. Look at his muscles there.
  • 09:22 Joshua: Oh, we're gonna play that game.
  • 09:24 The colonials were so much smarter than me.
  • 09:26 They forged this stuff.
  • 09:29 Kirsten: As a parent, I try to be fair to my kids.
  • 09:32 I don't wanna put anything unnecessary on them.
  • 09:36 But here's my little beef. So, Adam is the one that sinned.
  • 09:41 How many thousands of generations have gone by
  • 09:45 since Adam and that's still on us, like, we still have to carry
  • 09:49 his weight of sin?
  • 09:51 Caleb: We're still held accountable.
  • 09:53 Kirsten: Seems a little unfair.
  • 09:54 Caleb: Because this is all about the laws of nature that
  • 09:56 God put into existence on the earth.
  • 09:58 He gave Adam dominion over everything so Adam was basically
  • 10:00 the king over all.
  • 10:02 All authority over heaven and earth, so when Adam messed up,
  • 10:05 it traveled through the blood line.
  • 10:07 We have that polluted blood and we're born with a sinful nature.
  • 10:10 So now it's up to us with that knowledge to step into the
  • 10:14 freedom and deliverance from those curses that God doesn't
  • 10:17 want us to be bound to.
  • 10:19 Joshua: So that responsibility means we can't
  • 10:21 just stay luke-warm.
  • 10:22 We have to walk in God's authority in this life because
  • 10:25 we're held responsible whether we do it or not.
  • 10:27 Hosea 4:6 says: "My people are destroyed
  • 10:30 for a lack of knowledge."
  • 10:32 You can plead ignorant all day long, but you're still gonna be
  • 10:35 taken advantage of by the enemy and you're still held
  • 10:36 responsible by God because he's given you that authority and
  • 10:39 he's paid that price for you to stand in that knowledge
  • 10:42 and to be effective.
  • 10:44 Caleb: Yeah, we're all born guilty with that sin nature.
  • 10:46 And it's--yeah, something that Adam did, it's hard.
  • 10:50 Kirsten: It's always--and I am jumping in.
  • 10:51 That is so hard.
  • 10:53 The "born with sin nature" is hard because
  • 10:54 you've held your babies.
  • 10:57 I mean, when you look at your 2-week-old baby and go,
  • 10:59 "That sin nature baby of mine."
  • 11:01 But I'm saying it's a hard thing to wrap our minds around.
  • 11:04 Caleb: But thank you, Yeshua.
  • 11:06 He made a way by coming outside of that sin nature to deliver us
  • 11:09 from that sin nature and to give us power and authority.
  • 11:12 And one ways that he equips us with more power
  • 11:16 and authority is through fasting.
  • 11:17 Topic most people don't wanna hear about, but we're gonna go
  • 11:19 into that right now.
  • 11:23 Joshua: Huahh. Hey, everybody, I'm Joshua.
  • 11:25 Caleb: And I'm Caleb. Joshua: And we're brothers.
  • 11:26 Caleb: We are.
  • 11:28 Joshua: Brother, let me ask you something.
  • 11:29 Caleb: Yes, sir.
  • 11:30 Joshua: Why is there a head of cabbage next to Fidgie?
  • 11:32 Caleb: I am at the tail end of my detox.
  • 11:34 You know, I've been cleansing my body out.
  • 11:36 Been eating this, drinking this gunk
  • 11:38 and taking these supplements.
  • 11:39 Joshua: Brother? Caleb: Yes?
  • 11:41 Joshua: How long have you been doing
  • 11:42 all this wonderful healthy stuff?
  • 11:43 Caleb: A whole month. Agonizing.
  • 11:45 Joshua: A whole month, goodness gracious,
  • 11:46 that's super-good.
  • 11:48 Caleb: Thank you.
  • 11:50 Joshua: I've been doing it for 21 years.
  • 11:52 Very close to a month, but keep going, you'll get there.
  • 11:56 Caleb: You had to steal my thunder.
  • 11:57 Joshua: I didn't steal your thunder, you gave it away.
  • 12:00 Wanna know why he's doing this, guys?
  • 12:03 Caleb: Why, why? Why is this?
  • 12:04 Joshua: You're doing this because you're fasting from bad
  • 12:06 stuff to get a good result.
  • 12:09 Caleb: That's true, I feel that fasting in one of the most
  • 12:11 untalked about things in the Bible.
  • 12:14 People don't wanna hear about it,
  • 12:15 so we're gonna take it on today.
  • 12:17 Joshua: There's a reason nobody wants to hear about it.
  • 12:18 None of you wanna fast.
  • 12:19 I'm gonna be honest with you: I hate fasting, myself.
  • 12:22 Caleb: Yeshua in the book of Matthew, he says,
  • 12:25 "When you fast, do this."
  • 12:28 He didn't say, "If you fast"; he said, "When you fast."
  • 12:30 So it's kind of like you're not given an option.
  • 12:32 You need to fast.
  • 12:34 Joshua: When is just not my favorite word anymore.
  • 12:37 I like the word "If" so much better.
  • 12:38 Guys, fasting isn't just about removing a food from your diet.
  • 12:42 Actually, the principle of fasting is to abstain from
  • 12:45 anything that could have control over you other than the Father
  • 12:48 or could be in the way of you getting to where you need to be.
  • 12:52 Caleb: That's right, in Isaiah 58:3 through 7,
  • 12:54 we hear some benefits of fasting, why are we doing this?
  • 12:58 He explains that you don't fast, obviously, to seek your own
  • 13:01 pleasure but to humble yourself, to break free from bondages,
  • 13:04 addictions, yokes in your life, to turn around and bless others,
  • 13:09 to change your heart, basically.
  • 13:11 And it's also to seek the Lord, to get the answers you need,
  • 13:14 to break free and get that spiritual authority
  • 13:17 from the enemy.
  • 13:19 And we see many times in the Bible, people fasted.
  • 13:21 Daniel fasted for 3 weeks.
  • 13:22 Joshua: Moses fasted for 40 days.
  • 13:24 Caleb: Yeah, on top of the mountain before
  • 13:26 he got the ten commandments.
  • 13:27 Joshua: Jesus, Yeshua, he fasted.
  • 13:29 Come on, guys, there's no better example if he did it.
  • 13:31 Caleb: Very interesting, though, in Matthew 17:14
  • 13:35 through 21, the disciples tried to cast a demon out of a boy.
  • 13:40 They couldn't do it.
  • 13:41 Yeshua succeeded and he said to them, "This kind of spirit only
  • 13:45 goes out by prayer and fasting."
  • 13:48 Joshua: Sometimes it's important to deny ourselves
  • 13:51 those things that the flesh wants.
  • 13:53 I started traveling internationally when I was
  • 13:55 17 years old and on many of my first several trips I felt
  • 13:58 the Father moving me to fast different things.
  • 14:01 And I do remember one time that I fasted not only 40 days on a
  • 14:04 Daniel fast, which is very hard for me to do.
  • 14:07 I'm big, I like to eat.
  • 14:09 But I also fasted movies, I've fasted music that was secular.
  • 14:13 I've fasted media.
  • 14:15 Anything that was going to be a distraction between me and
  • 14:17 seeking God's face for that trip, I cut out of my life.
  • 14:20 And I saw a significant improvement in my focus and my
  • 14:23 intimacy in that time.
  • 14:24 Caleb: That's true, it doesn't have to be about food.
  • 14:26 Anything that separates you from the Father, you take it away so
  • 14:29 you can hear more clearly from the Father.
  • 14:31 I know in America today, we've kind of
  • 14:33 lost our dependency on God.
  • 14:36 We think we're self-sufficient.
  • 14:37 We have good pay, a house, family.
  • 14:40 We can worship freely.
  • 14:42 We're not worried about invaders coming in and blowing us up.
  • 14:44 But in other countries, where Christians are persecuted, they
  • 14:48 have to seek the Lord, you find them fasting,
  • 14:51 people who don't even have food in those countries,
  • 14:54 and they see moves of God.
  • 14:56 They see great revivals in places like Iran, China,
  • 15:00 underground churches, and places in Africa.
  • 15:03 We're not seeing it here.
  • 15:04 Joshua: Well, you see, guys, fasting has both spiritual
  • 15:07 and physical benefits.
  • 15:08 In the physical world, you probably heard it today.
  • 15:11 It's things like intermittent fasting.
  • 15:12 We've found that by fasting for certain periods of time, it
  • 15:14 actually helps the body recoup, recover, breaks dependencies.
  • 15:17 If you'll guys have a problem with sugar, for instance,
  • 15:19 which is a crazy addiction for the body.
  • 15:21 Breaking or fasting from that, from a period of time, sets you
  • 15:23 free from that addiction.
  • 15:25 Same thing, spiritually, guys.
  • 15:27 When we set ourselves free from the things that have held us in
  • 15:29 bondage, whether it's as simple as our phone 24 hours a day if
  • 15:32 we're constantly updating ourselves on our social media.
  • 15:34 These aren't bad things.
  • 15:35 We're talking about what are you dependent on?
  • 15:37 Be dependent on the Father alone in your life.
  • 15:39 That's what's gonna set you free.
  • 15:41 Caleb: That's right, and like Yeshua said, don't fast to try
  • 15:45 to gain righteousness or brownie points with God.
  • 15:47 Don't fast and--to try to get attention like the Pharisees.
  • 15:50 Fast in secret. It's between you and God.
  • 15:52 No one else has to know about it.
  • 15:54 And obviously, don't do anything harmful to your bodies.
  • 15:57 Joshua: In fact, I may be fasting right now.
  • 15:59 Shh, I'll never tell.
  • 16:01 Caleb: So, don't blame us if you try to do a 40-day fast
  • 16:04 without food and you end up in the emergency room.
  • 16:06 Joshua: I did not advocate that. Caleb: We do not.
  • 16:08 Joshua: You can prove nothing.
  • 16:10 Caleb: Thanks for joining us. Joshua: I love you guys.
  • 16:14 David: Fasting is not something that we really like to
  • 16:18 hear about because it's something that
  • 16:20 we really need to do.
  • 16:21 We're trying to fast from sugar right now.
  • 16:24 Joshua: Good on you.
  • 16:26 David: Yeah, I need a cookie but I'm not gonna have one.
  • 16:28 We're also trying to fast from, you know, TV and movies
  • 16:32 and things like that.
  • 16:33 Kirsten: We've done that, we're--believe it or not, we
  • 16:35 don't even have a--we're on a television program and we don't
  • 16:38 have a TV in our home.
  • 16:40 David: We're on it but we don't watch it.
  • 16:42 Kirsten: Right, but we watch it on our tablets but you talk
  • 16:45 about fasting, there are many different kinds of fasting.
  • 16:47 We fast from the news because we don't want that negative and,
  • 16:51 right, and any time when you're taking a fast from something and
  • 16:55 you jump back into it, any time, like, if we're in a hotel and we
  • 16:59 turn on the news, it's so much negative and so much noise that
  • 17:02 I don't want it anymore.
  • 17:04 David: Brings us down. Kirsten: Yeah.
  • 17:06 Joshua: Because really, fasting in general is about
  • 17:07 removing the focus of myself.
  • 17:09 The idolatry of me gets placed aside so that I can put my focus
  • 17:13 on the Father and whether it is food, sugar, TV, this, that,
  • 17:16 anything that holds my heart shouldn't.
  • 17:19 And so I have to let go of that so the Father can hold my heart
  • 17:22 and guide my direction.
  • 17:24 Caleb: That's right, you know, previously, you asked me about
  • 17:26 the curse of Adam and why are we doomed to that.
  • 17:29 Well, Scripture also talks about generational
  • 17:32 curses and iniquities, they're not fun.
  • 17:33 And we're gonna talk about that in this next teaching
  • 17:37 but there is hope and deliverance through Yeshua to
  • 17:40 break the power of the curse.
  • 17:42 I hope you enjoy this.
  • 17:46 Joshua: Ha-hah, hey, everybody, I'm Joshua.
  • 17:49 Caleb: I'm Caleb. Joshua: We're brothers.
  • 17:51 Caleb: True. Joshua: Can you tell?
  • 17:53 Caleb: Given--you ever noticed, Josh, that sometimes we
  • 17:55 do things like Dad did, you know, maybe holding our fork
  • 17:58 the same way our Dad does or, you know, your laugh kind
  • 18:01 of sounds like Dad.
  • 18:02 Joshua: Nope, in fact, that's not a thing.
  • 18:04 Caleb: Well, what about your shirt here?
  • 18:07 Joshua: What about my amazing shirt here?
  • 18:09 I love this shirt.
  • 18:11 Caleb: Looks like something Dad wore in the '70s.
  • 18:13 Joshua: Ah, dang it. He did, that's not--
  • 18:19 Caleb: Let me read to you a almost-unrelated Scripture, but
  • 18:22 it actually has something to do with what we're talking about.
  • 18:25 In Exodus 24: "You shall not make for yourself an image in
  • 18:28 the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or
  • 18:30 in the waters below.
  • 18:32 You shall not bow down to them or worship them.
  • 18:34 For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God."
  • 18:35 We've all heard that.
  • 18:36 It's one of the Ten Commandments.
  • 18:38 But we leave out this part afterwards: "Punishing the
  • 18:41 children for the sins of their parents to the third and fourth
  • 18:43 generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand
  • 18:46 generations of those who love me and keep my commandments."
  • 18:48 This has been referred to as a generational curse.
  • 18:51 It's repeated several times in the Bible.
  • 18:53 Joshua: That's not a real thing, is it?
  • 18:55 Caleb: You don't think generational curses are real?
  • 18:56 You can look at families today, you look at children carrying
  • 19:01 on the same mistakes as their parents,
  • 19:03 certain addictions, sins.
  • 19:06 It's more than just physical features.
  • 19:09 And we can see that now in science.
  • 19:11 A study of the human genome and of DNA has proven now that we
  • 19:16 not only pass on our physical features to our children, but
  • 19:19 our best and our worst traits as well.
  • 19:21 Joshua: So, emotional and psychological things are
  • 19:23 transferred genetically, not just physical traits?
  • 19:27 Caleb: It's scary but true.
  • 19:29 A study right now I'm gonna read to you, pioneering studies in
  • 19:33 epigenetics which is the information that sits above the
  • 19:36 genome, shows that our life experiences, our choices,
  • 19:39 are written into our DNA.
  • 19:41 Things like traumatic events that scar us, PTSD, fears,
  • 19:44 bondages, or vices that grip us.
  • 19:47 Even memories have been proven to pass
  • 19:49 on to the next generation.
  • 19:51 Joshua: I'm gonna think so many good things for my kids.
  • 19:53 Do you hear that, kids?
  • 19:55 I will--ooh, wait, I already had 'em.
  • 19:57 Caleb: So they did a study, okay, with mice.
  • 19:59 You know how you put a mouse in a cage and he goes around the
  • 20:01 maze and tries to find the cheese at the end
  • 20:03 or whatever food it is?
  • 20:05 Well, there's also the wrong way in the maze where there
  • 20:07 was an electric shock.
  • 20:09 The mouse went through, he got zapped, until he found the right
  • 20:12 way to get to the food.
  • 20:14 Well, then that mouse had children.
  • 20:16 The next generation of that child of mouse, his progeny,
  • 20:18 went through the maze and somehow, this is his first time
  • 20:22 in the maze, he knew the right way to go.
  • 20:24 He avoided the electric shocks and went straight to the food.
  • 20:28 Joshua: So if these things affect us to the third and
  • 20:30 fourth generations, how do we, in those generations,
  • 20:33 fix the problem?
  • 20:35 How do we break these curses in generational things that
  • 20:37 somebody before us did?
  • 20:39 Caleb: Obviously, it's only through the power of Yeshua.
  • 20:40 He understood this.
  • 20:42 'Cause it's not just the genetic, physical curses or of
  • 20:44 the iniquities that we're fighting.
  • 20:46 It's spiritual as well, 'cause when we commit sin,
  • 20:48 we're placing ourselves in bondage to certain
  • 20:50 spirits and principalities.
  • 20:52 Well, the Lord knew this.
  • 20:55 It was called iniquity of bending or leaning our
  • 20:57 inclination to do something.
  • 20:59 He understood that.
  • 21:00 When the story of Achen, you remember that?
  • 21:02 Joshua: Oh, I do remember the story of Achen.
  • 21:03 Guys, my namesake, Joshua, was called to go in.
  • 21:05 They defeated Jericho and he was supposed to take everything, all
  • 21:08 the spoils of it and give it as first fruits to God, but Achen
  • 21:10 snuck in, stole some CD players.
  • 21:12 Wait, I dated myself. That's the '90s.
  • 21:14 Stole some stuff, hid it under his tent, and then God commanded
  • 21:17 that Achen and his entire family be put to death.
  • 21:19 Is that because that would have been a curse that traveled down?
  • 21:23 Caleb: It could have infected the entire--not just his entire
  • 21:26 family, but could have infected the congregation of Israel.
  • 21:29 I mean, why do you think God commanded Joshua,
  • 21:31 "Go into Canaan and kill every man, woman,
  • 21:34 and child and take the land."
  • 21:36 That's pretty extreme. But they had sin.
  • 21:38 They were worshiping idols and other gods.
  • 21:40 God didn't want the people to follow after them because that
  • 21:42 could genetically pass on through them.
  • 21:45 It would destroy entire generations.
  • 21:47 Joshua: So we don't need to do that today, right?
  • 21:48 What's the difference today?
  • 21:50 Caleb: The different today is we have Yeshua.
  • 21:51 Joshua: Yes!
  • 21:53 Caleb: We have Yeshua and his sacrifice,
  • 21:54 it gives us new blood.
  • 21:56 We can receive his blood transfusion in our lives.
  • 21:58 His genetics and that sets us free from our bondages, from the
  • 22:01 snares that our forefathers committed.
  • 22:04 We may not even know what sins
  • 22:06 and things our fathers committed.
  • 22:08 But through that same act of faith, that confession, that
  • 22:10 receiving of salvation, we can renounce the sins of our
  • 22:13 forefathers, we can receive that forgiveness on behalf of the
  • 22:17 sins our parents committed, and make sure that our children do
  • 22:21 not follow in the same mistakes we committed.
  • 22:22 Joshua: Guys, we say this about a
  • 22:24 lot of things on this show.
  • 22:26 We say that you can't just sit and let things go by.
  • 22:28 That you have to take action, that you have authority through
  • 22:30 the Word of God and through the name of Yeshua, and that when
  • 22:34 you exercise that authority, it breaks things like
  • 22:36 generational curses, it breaks strongholds,
  • 22:38 it brings freedom to the captive.
  • 22:40 So what we're gonna do right now is I'm gonna pray for you guys
  • 22:42 at home a prayer of faith, and I want you to agree with me as we
  • 22:44 pray right now that if there are any generational curses, any
  • 22:47 strongholds, anything binding you or holding your lives in
  • 22:49 bondage that it's gonna be broken right now.
  • 22:52 So dear heavenly Father, we just thank you right now.
  • 22:54 We come together as you've told us to do, when two or more agree
  • 22:57 and touch in anything on this earth, it'll be done by their
  • 23:00 Father in heaven.
  • 23:01 And I agree with everyone at home right now, that's
  • 23:03 listening, that if there be any generational curses, any
  • 23:05 strongholds, any iniquities in the bloodline, anything coming
  • 23:08 against the men and women of God right now within the sound of my
  • 23:11 voice, that have held them in bondage or their family or their
  • 23:13 children or their children's children, in the name of Jesus
  • 23:16 Christ of Nazareth we take authority over that right now.
  • 23:18 In the name of Yeshua we break those strongholds, those curses,
  • 23:22 that have held them in bondage.
  • 23:24 We take authority together, saying,
  • 23:26 "It cannot be done any longer.
  • 23:28 It cannot cross the blood line.
  • 23:30 We plead the blood with Yeshua from the top of their head to
  • 23:32 the soles of their feet, setting them free from this bondage.
  • 23:35 From this day forward it shall no longer affect them or their
  • 23:38 children or their children's children.
  • 23:40 We thank you for that freedom.
  • 23:42 We thank you for the price you paid for us and we thank you,
  • 23:44 Lord God, that they can walk with their heads held high, not
  • 23:46 being affected or plagued by anything that's been done before
  • 23:49 them in their bloodline.
  • 23:51 Caleb: So now, receive the blessing.
  • 23:53 Receive a blessing of the Lord to a 1000th generation.
  • 23:56 Blessings are strong than curses.
  • 23:58 Fill your life with good things.
  • 24:00 Rewrite your genetic code by filling every area of your life,
  • 24:03 things that you used to withhold, for Messiah.
  • 24:05 Give it all to him.
  • 24:07 And you pass on amazing blessing and prosperity to your children.
  • 24:10 Joshua: 'Cause it's not just the curses that go to the third
  • 24:12 and fourth; it's the blessings as well.
  • 24:14 Caleb: No, join us next time.
  • 24:18 Kirsten: It's kind of hard sometimes to understand
  • 24:21 the generational curse.
  • 24:23 I don't know, some of you have heard my story.
  • 24:26 I don't know if you've heard my story before.
  • 24:28 But I was adopted into a wonderful family.
  • 24:32 They're my parents, but I also have genetic DNA of a birth
  • 24:39 father and a birth mother.
  • 24:41 And ever since finding out that I was adopted, I have always,
  • 24:44 not battled but questioned who's generational curses am I under?
  • 24:51 My adopted family or my blood line?
  • 24:55 Caleb: Yeah, what inclination is making me
  • 24:57 do the things that I'm doing?
  • 25:00 David: Exactly. Kirsten: Right, nature, nurture.
  • 25:02 Caleb: Yeah, and that's hard for a lot of people, guys,
  • 25:05 because--and you see children carry on the same mistakes
  • 25:07 as their parents.
  • 25:09 And sometimes we don't really need to know.
  • 25:11 You don't need to know who your family was.
  • 25:13 You need to know who your Father is now.
  • 25:15 And you can receive that adoption of sons and daughters
  • 25:19 into the kingdom to break that curse.
  • 25:21 It's bad. It exists.
  • 25:23 The Scripture says it does, but the Scripture gives us a way of
  • 25:26 freedom from that.
  • 25:28 Interesting story, back when I was in high school.
  • 25:30 You know, it was very kind of rigid, you know, it was a
  • 25:33 Christian high school but denominational one.
  • 25:35 I'm not gonna name them.
  • 25:37 They love Yeshua, they can get people saved, but they didn't
  • 25:39 know how to disciple them afterwards.
  • 25:41 And I was in Bible class and I was supposed to give a sermon,
  • 25:43 my very first sermon.
  • 25:45 And I stepped up there like a commanding general.
  • 25:47 This is how I started. Crickets chirping.
  • 25:49 "You chosen of God, you conquerors, you warriors,
  • 25:53 you overcomers, you blessed, you beloved.
  • 25:57 These are the names that Messiah calls you by."
  • 26:00 And people were like, "What does that mean?"
  • 26:02 He thinks so much more highly of us because he knows the blood,
  • 26:06 the true blood, the true DNA, that is inside us.
  • 26:09 And that's the blood of Yeshua.
  • 26:10 Kirsten: So, and I'm--sorry, so the Old Testament,
  • 26:13 you were responsible.
  • 26:15 The blood line went through the curses.
  • 26:18 But now, from Yeshua, he has cleansed our blood
  • 26:21 and given us new blood.
  • 26:23 Caleb: He has set us free.
  • 26:24 The law of sin and death is still in effect,
  • 26:25 but we have a way out of it.
  • 26:27 Joshua: But you have to walk in it, and that's a key.
  • 26:28 You can't walk around as though you've been beaten down by the
  • 26:30 enemy, "Woe is me, why do I always give in to these things."
  • 26:33 You have to choose the path of the overcomer.
  • 26:35 Look at Yeshua with his disciples and anything else.
  • 26:37 He said, "Go, your faith has made you whole."
  • 26:39 It's your responsibility to walk in what he paid for.
