Series: “Zion Forever”
This long-awaited, nine-part series looks back at Israel’s history and forward into prophecy while remembering the present status of the Temple Mount, the most contested real estate on Earth. Throughout the series, we hear from Our Man in Haifa Eitan Shishkoff, and Zola Levitt’s music complements the narrative and scenes of Israel.

Caption transcript for Zion Forever: “The Place” (1/9)

  • 00:01 Today on Zola Levitt Presents...
  • 00:04 Have you wondered why there's such contention over this real estate?
  • 00:08 This is "Ground Zero"
  • 00:09 This is the epicenter.
  • 00:10 This is the place that God Himself will rule from.
  • 00:41 For Zion's sake I will not hold my peace
  • 00:44 And for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest
  • 00:48 until her righteousness goes forth as brightness
  • 00:52 and her salvation as a lamp that burns.
  • 01:05 Shalom...
  • 01:06 We're coming to you
  • 01:07 from the Mount of Olives.
  • 01:09 Behind us is "Ha Makom" - "The Place"
  • 01:12 It's been said in all the world there is a country...Israel.
  • 01:16 In all the country Israel there is a city, Jerusalem.
  • 01:19 And in all Jerusalem there is a mountain...Mount Moriah.
  • 01:23 And on Mount Moriah is Ha Makom
  • 01:26 the foundation stone, the place, the Holy of Holies.
  • 01:30 Yes, absolutely
  • 01:31 Jerusalem it says in Haggai
  • 01:34 is the desire of all nations.
  • 01:36 God has chosen it to be the beginning and the end of His love story.
  • 01:41 He has a story and you're part of that story.
  • 01:45 We are woven in to the testimony of what Abraham saw
  • 01:49 where the cloud of glory was over Mount Moriah.
  • 01:52 You don't see a mountain today.
  • 01:53 You see a foundation that Herod built.
  • 01:56 But behind us is the foundation stone on the Temple Mount.
  • 02:00 I want to read you a scripture in Exodus 15:17.
  • 02:04 It's what God said to Moses when he brought the people out of Egypt.
  • 02:09 He said to them...
  • 02:24 This place is the sanctuary for God Himself.
  • 02:28 That's right.
  • 02:29 And right there is where creation began
  • 02:32 according to the sages, the rabbis believe that is
  • 02:35 the place of " Even Ha-shetiya " the "Foundation Stone"
  • 02:38 Listen to Isaiah in chapter 28:16...
  • 02:55 Looking forward to the sacrifice of Yeshua HaMashiach.
  • 02:58 But before that could happen
  • 03:00 God wanted to set up a picture of that
  • 03:02 by having Abraham see the glory cloud over Mount Moriah
  • 03:05 and come up here; in Genesis 22
  • 03:08 for the "Akeidah Yitzcak" the "Binding of Isaac".
  • 03:11 Wow, you know just as the body has a navel
  • 03:15 so Jerusalem is the navel of the world.
  • 03:20 God Himself birthed His own Son
  • 03:23 and He Himself will return here with you.
  • 03:27 Even the name "Yerushalayim",
  • 03:29 "Yerah"..."Shalom",
  • 03:30 "teach peace".
  • 03:32 There's only one way there will be peace in this country
  • 03:35 and peace in this world;
  • 03:36 and that is when Sar Shalom comes back to rule this place.
  • 03:40 Meshiach - Yeshuah HaMashiach
  • 03:42 The Prince of Peace.
  • 03:44 When He comes back there will be peace in this land.
  • 03:46 And we'll see this millennial reign
  • 03:48 that will take place from this place.
  • 03:50 And He will rule from the throne
  • 03:52 that is going to be exactly at Ha Makom (Mount Moriah).
  • 03:56 Have you wondered why there's such contention over this real estate?
  • 03:59 This is "Ground Zero".
  • 04:01 This is the epicenter.
  • 04:02 This is the place that God Himself will rule from.
  • 04:06 And that's why there's such contention over it.
  • 04:08 But we would say to you today...
  • 04:09 Location...location...location.
  • 04:11 God's real estate is sure.
  • 04:14 He's going to come back here.
  • 04:15 He's going to rule from this place.
  • 04:17 And we're going to rule and reign with him in the years to come.
  • 04:20 What a story.
  • 04:21 Its always been a love story.
  • 04:23 It was always because the Seed of Life would be birthed here.
  • 04:28 The Seed of Life would come here.
  • 04:30 And the Seed of Life would come back here.
  • 04:33 Because God so love the world
  • 04:34 that He gave His only begotten Son
  • 04:37 that whoever believes in Him shall not perish
  • 04:39 but have everlasting life.
  • 04:52 It is so important
  • 04:54 that we make that surrender
  • 04:55 to the love of God
  • 04:56 because its the love of God
  • 04:58 that will take us through
  • 04:59 to the very end.
  • 05:00 He is that solid foundation.
  • 05:02 It's really true.
  • 05:03 Yeshua is the one that made it all the way through.
  • 05:06 We are so excited that we are able to bring you this series on Mount Zion.
  • 05:10 Zion is the same as saying Jerusalem.
  • 05:13 They're synonymous.
  • 05:15 And David longed for a resting place for God
  • 05:19 He longed so much that...
  • 05:21 It was such a longing of love.
  • 05:23 Just the Lord loves and longs for us.
  • 05:26 Yes it's really true.
  • 05:27 And David is a picture of David's greater son
  • 05:29 Yeshua, the King of Kings.
  • 05:31 The first time we hear of this "Zion", this word "Zion"
  • 05:35 is in II Samuel 5:7
  • 05:38 where the scripture says,
  • 05:38 (speaking Hebrew)
  • 05:49 This place has been a Jewish place for over 3,000 years.
  • 05:53 And it is really...
  • 05:55 that is what is being contended right now in the natural world
  • 05:58 is the contention regarding
  • 06:00 have there ever been Jews here?
  • 06:02 Has the Temple Mount really been the place of the Temple?
  • 06:04 Was David a real person?
  • 06:05 In this series we're going to establish all of that.
  • 06:08 In fact our first guest is Eli Shukron.
  • 06:11 He is the guide, the man,
  • 06:12 the archaeologist who found the Pool of Siloam
  • 06:16 and has been very involved
  • 06:18 with the unearthing of the archeological truth
  • 06:22 that verifies the Word of God...
  • 06:25 substantiates the Word of God.
  • 06:26 So let's go to Eli right now in Jerusalem.
  • 06:31 We're in the City of David
  • 06:32 in the east slope
  • 06:34 of the City of David.
  • 06:35 We are on top of the east slope in the City of David.
  • 06:38 This is the area that is called "Area G".
  • 06:40 It has been excavated by Professor Yigal Shilo,
  • 06:43 by Kathleen Kenyon Kenyan,
  • 06:45 by Macalister and Duncan.
  • 06:47 A lot of our colleagues did excavations here.
  • 06:49 Also Eliat Mazar...
  • 06:52 Dr. Eliat Mazar dug excavations
  • 06:55 here on the top of that area.
  • 06:57 And what we can understand from what we have here
  • 07:00 we understand that on that slope they built the city as steps,
  • 07:05 this means a terrace wall...house
  • 07:08 terrace wall...house
  • 07:08 all the way down to the Gihon Spring
  • 07:12 ...all the way down to the Gihon Spring.
  • 07:13 And this gives us a little bit of understanding
  • 07:15 of the topography of the area in the time of King David
  • 07:19 or in the time of the 1st Temple period
  • 07:23 of how they built the slope in that time.
  • 07:26 And when we start to compare it a little bit to the Bible
  • 07:30 just the topography of the area
  • 07:32 we can understand that when King David was in his palace
  • 07:36 and he looked to the roof to see Bathsheba
  • 07:40 it can be because if we are on the top of the area
  • 07:44 and you look down below to the roof of the houses
  • 07:48 as we know they built it on the slope as steps
  • 07:52 they can see each other.
  • 07:54 So this is the position that was at that time.
  • 07:57 And I think the writer that wrote that in the Bible
  • 08:01 he's right that this is the right position to see each other
  • 08:05 when someone is in the palace and some other is on the roof.
  • 08:09 Here what we can see as to us as the builder
  • 08:12 in that time in the 1st Temple period
  • 08:15 the people were living in that house.
  • 08:17 We are in this one room of that house.
  • 08:19 You can see the courtyard in the house with a pillar.
  • 08:23 Behind me you can see the pillar in the house.
  • 08:26 In the pillar that is where you tied the animals
  • 08:31 on the top of that pillar on the second floor
  • 08:34 And on the second floor there was a living room
  • 08:37 or a place where they are sleeping or things like that.
  • 08:42 And below that second floor with the open area
  • 08:51 that the animals were there
  • 08:53 and all the women or all the work that you are doing at home
  • 08:58 they are doing in that place.
  • 09:00 Of course if you look down below we can see another terrace wall
  • 09:03 another house below all that is here in this site.
  • 09:09 But this given with the understanding
  • 09:11 that what the Bible says about the location is the right location.
  • 09:27 What lies ahead for Jerusalem?
  • 09:29 This City so precious to God
  • 09:32 has been at the center of Bible history
  • 09:34 for more than 4,000 years.
  • 09:36 And its future?
  • 09:38 Zola Levitt reveals the answer
  • 09:40 in this week's resource
  • 09:42 a booklet entitled
  • 09:43 "Jerusalem Forever"
  • 09:45 Zola writes about
  • 09:47 the history of this great City
  • 09:49 and its future for believers.

  • 09:58 Israel and the Jewish people
  • 10:00 is just one of our passions
  • 10:01 here at Zola Levitt Ministries.
  • 10:03 We're finding replacement theology
  • 10:05 that robs the church of its true heritance
  • 10:08 regarding the land and the people of Israel.
  • 10:11 And our work depends on your support.
  • 10:14 So please remember to give as your're able.
  • 10:17 You know, a dollar a day can go a long way.

  • 10:22 or give us a call at 1-800-WONDERS
  • 10:25 Thank you
  • 10:28 Well if you've been watching our program for any time
  • 10:29 you've seen my guest reminding you that
  • 10:32 we exist by your gifts of funds,
  • 10:34 that we are able to bring you these programs because of your participation.
  • 10:37 Wayne Fornier thank you for being with us today.
  • 10:39 It's my pleasure.
  • 10:40 I can't tell you
  • 10:41 how happy I am to be here
  • 10:43 and to become more involved
  • 10:44 with Zola Levitt Ministries.
  • 10:46 I've been watching
  • 10:47 for many years now.
  • 10:48 And I can tell you all about that.
  • 10:51 There's so many stories to tell
  • 10:52 watching at home and thinking about things to myself.
  • 10:56 But now I have a chance to be here
  • 10:58 and to speak to our audience.
  • 10:59 And I'm happy to do that.
  • 11:00 You know, your heart for Israel
  • 11:02 for the Jewish people
  • 11:03 for the ministry
  • 11:04 Comes through when you speak to the viewers.
  • 11:06 And I'm reminded that
  • 11:08 Zola, one of the characteristics of his ministry
  • 11:10 was his authenticity especially around funds.
  • 11:13 He many have been the only one in the history of Christian television to say
  • 11:16 "Right now we don't need any money.
  • 11:17 I remember.
  • 11:18 I'm looking forward to that day
  • 11:20 I'd like to say it as well.
  • 11:21 But you do a great job of connecting the dots for people.
  • 11:23 Something's stirred within you.
  • 11:25 It's because of the love when I realized
  • 11:28 the Bible, the Jewish roots of our faith.
  • 11:32 And that's how I began watching Zola.
  • 11:34 My Dad had just passed away
  • 11:36 and I was searching for answers
  • 11:38 and I had been a Christian for many years
  • 11:40 but my Dad in his Jewish background
  • 11:42 and even mine to some extent.
  • 11:44 And I've learned so much through the
  • 11:46 "Institute of Jewish- Christian Studies"
  • 11:49 The Bible has been out of place
  • 11:52 in the Old Testament for so long
  • 11:54 and recently I asked my Rabbi, I said,
  • 11:57 Rabbi why did the Gentiles >>still keep the Old Testament
  • 12:01 in the same order that they have for centuries?
  • 12:04 And he says, Because they can.
  • 12:06 It's like non-recognition of things Jewish.
  • 12:10 And it's something that I'd like to see corrected.
  • 12:12 Well that comes through >>when you address our viewers
  • 12:14 and I really appreciate your participation with us.
  • 12:17 Thank you.
  • 12:18 Like I said, it's my pleasure
  • 12:19 and I hope to help
  • 12:20 and hope to be able to extend that to the viewers
  • 12:24 so that they will help more.
  • 12:26 Well you do quite well.
  • 12:27 Thank you... thank you.
  • 12:28 Well now we're going to go to the City of David
  • 12:30 and hear from one of the premier tour guides in Israel
  • 12:33 Hannah Ben Haim
  • 12:34 She's going to be speaking to us.
  • 12:35 She's a citizen of Israel.
  • 12:37 She reads the Bible in Hebrew.
  • 12:38 And you're going to be blessed by her ministry.
  • 12:40 Let's go to her.
  • 12:43 This is the city
  • 12:45 named after David himself.
  • 12:46 But we first hear about this city
  • 12:49 in the book of Samuel
  • 12:51 as the fortress of Zion.
  • 12:53 There's where we are first introduced to this city.
  • 12:56 So first and foremost this is Zion.
  • 12:59 When you talk about Jerusalem you're talking about Zion.
  • 13:02 Now "Zion" becomes synonymous for the whole country later on
  • 13:06 but Zion originally starts here
  • 13:08 and it is the fortress of Zion that David conquers
  • 13:12 when he comes here approximately the year 1,000.
  • 13:15 what we're looking at behind us is the destruction era of 586
  • 13:20 when of course all of Israel goes to Babylon.
  • 13:24 But when we talk about Zion and the heart of David
  • 13:27 we can imagine it right here
  • 13:29 because David's palace was somewhere above us.
  • 13:32 And these were sort of the upper echelon houses
  • 13:36 that existed at that time.
  • 13:37 We know that David looked from his palace
  • 13:41 and sinned with Bathsheba.
  • 13:44 We know that his longing was from above.
  • 13:47 And that's really the heart of God.
  • 13:49 God longs for Zion
  • 13:51 just the way it says here in the book of Psalms
  • 13:54 I'm reading from Psalms 132...
  • 14:12 When we hear these words
  • 14:14 it's almost the picture of a young man
  • 14:17 yearning for his bride.
  • 14:19 even the word that is used there - "desired"
  • 14:22 Is almost a seductive kind of longing,
  • 14:26 a leaning out of the window
  • 14:28 "Where is she? ... where is she?
  • 14:30 And that word "it" at the end is actually "her" in Hebrew.
  • 14:34 He has desired "her".
  • 14:36 This is the place of his meeting his bride.
  • 14:39 After all, the entire Word of God
  • 14:41 is summed up in Exodus 25, right?
  • 14:44 Tell them to build me a Sanctuary
  • 14:46 that I might dwell in them.
  • 14:48 This is the heart of God.
  • 14:50 And this was the heart of David
  • 14:51 that he would build a Sanctuary
  • 14:53 a place for the dwelling of God.
  • 14:56 And everything that he did in his reign was for that purpose.
  • 15:00 This is why the throne will always have a seat of David on it
  • 15:05 because his heart was after the same heart that God has for this place.
  • 15:21 Behind us... Mount Moriah.
  • 15:24 You know "Moriah" comes from the word "raha", "to see".
  • 15:27 And it was here that God established that he would provide for our needs.
  • 15:32 "Adonai Yirah", "The LORD sees our need"
  • 15:36 And he saw our need here.
  • 15:38 In John 1:29 "Yochanan HaMatbil", John the Immerser
  • 15:43 John the Baptist we call him.
  • 15:45 He said...
  • 15:49 It was the fulfillment
  • 15:51 of something that God had set up
  • 15:53 years before, centuries before
  • 15:55 with the story of Abraham and Isaac.
  • 15:56 Absolutely.
  • 15:58 You know behind us you won't see that hill.
  • 16:00 You see a platform.
  • 16:02 Herod the Great built it.
  • 16:04 He wasn't a great man.
  • 16:05 He was actually a very cruel man.
  • 16:07 But he was a great builder.
  • 16:09 And we must say,
  • 16:10 I mean it's pretty amazing what he built.
  • 16:13 But on that platform is where the first temple was.
  • 16:17 It's even where Jesus came as a baby and was dedicated.
  • 16:21 History of our Lord and Savior is in this area.
  • 16:24 They knew that they needed to come to the temple because there needed to be a sacrifice.
  • 16:29 They needed to keep the "Aliyah".
  • 16:31 They needed to go and make feast with the LORD.
  • 16:34 They needed to keep a feast with the LORD.
  • 16:35 So Jesus came with his mother and his father.
  • 16:39 And Jesus also came when he was with his disciples.
  • 16:43 And his disciples said,
  • 16:45 well what do you think about this amazing temple?
  • 16:47 And he said, you know what?
  • 16:49 Not one stone will remain.
  • 16:51 In 70 AD not one stone would remain.
  • 16:54 And after that time
  • 16:56 there has not been a Jewish Sanctuary there ...a Jewish Temple.
  • 17:01 It has been awaiting his return.
  • 17:04 Yes
  • 17:05 And so the closest the Jewish people can come
  • 17:07 to celebrate the LORD and to worship and to pray
  • 17:10 is the Western Wall,
  • 17:11 the outer retaining wall
  • 17:13 sometimes called "The Wailing Wall"
  • 17:14 because it is where the Jewish people have come
  • 17:16 and prayed to God and mourned the loss of the Temple.
  • 17:19 But there is coming a day when God will establish his throne
  • 17:23 as he promised David.
  • 17:24 He promised David he would establish His throne in this place forever.
  • 17:28 You know the Ark of the Covenant was here
  • 17:31 because first it rested in Shiloh
  • 17:33 for 369 years...a long time
  • 17:36 that that was not called Ha Makom, "The Place"
  • 17:40 Behind us is the place.
  • 17:43 And this is the place that God will establish His millennium kingdom.
  • 17:47 You know it's always been a love story.
  • 17:49 The first use of the word love, "ahava" is in Genesis 22
  • 17:53 when Abraham and Isaac went up to worship the LORD.
  • 17:56 That was an act of love.
  • 17:58 The sacrifice of Isaac an act of love.
  • 18:00 Now many, many centuries later
  • 18:03 the Muslims have laid claim to this land, to this place, to this mountain.
  • 18:07 But it is not their place.
  • 18:09 It belongs to the Lord God Himself.
  • 18:11 And there's going to be a reckoning.
  • 18:13 There will be a time when God will once again establish that this is His place.
  • 18:17 In fact, do we even hear of it in the Koran?
  • 18:20 No, its not mentioned one time in the Koran.
  • 18:23 It's said that it is their 3rd holiest site
  • 18:26 but its not mentioned once in the Koran.
  • 18:28 And it's sadly to be said also
  • 18:31 is that in the Byzantine era they didn't value this place,
  • 18:34 this Ha Makom.
  • 18:36 Nothing...it was just desolate
  • 18:37 so the Muslims knew that this was a very special place.
  • 18:41 And that's where they built their first mosque
  • 18:43 and the Dome of the Rock which is behind us.
  • 18:45 That's really good.
  • 18:47 In fact, if you were here with us, at the time of the Crusaders
  • 18:50 you would see a Christian cross on a Moslem Dome on Roman pillars on Jewish land.
  • 18:58 Because this place is precious to three but its promised to one.
  • 19:13 (Orchestrated Music)
  • 19:32 (Katharine speaking) Israel is a Land full of promises.
  • 19:35 You'll never be the same.
  • 19:36 So we invite you to come.
  • 19:38 Its a trip of a lifetime.
  • 19:40 We'd love you to join us.
  • 19:44 Psalm 125 tells us that...
  • 19:49 And that's a picture of something that's immovable.
  • 19:51 That's what this whole series is about.
  • 19:53 We would like to take you to Mount Zion
  • 19:55 to take you to the Land
  • 19:57 to introduce you to Israel
  • 19:58 and introduce Israel to you.
  • 20:00 It is a life changing experience.
  • 20:01 Everyone that we bring says
  • 20:03 the Word comes alive,
  • 20:05 their spiritual life is enhanced
  • 20:06 and we want to share that with you.
  • 20:08 So call 1-800 WONDERS
  • 20:10 or look for us online
  • 20:11 at levitt.com
  • 20:13 Come to Israel.
  • 20:14 You'll never be the same.
  • 20:15 WOW, its true.
  • 20:17 We are going to share some amazing teaching from Eitan Shishkoff.
  • 20:20 He is our man in Haifa.
  • 20:23 And he also writes for the Levitt Letter
  • 20:25 So let's go now to Eitan.
  • 20:30 Shalom, we're sitting here on
  • 20:32 the coast of the Haifa Bay
  • 20:34 just to the north of Haifa.
  • 20:36 And I would like to read a scripture to you from the book of Genesis
  • 20:39 regarding the sand of the seashore.
  • 20:42 This comes from Genesis 22:17 and following
  • 20:47 where God says...
  • 20:52 He's speaking to Abraham...
  • 20:58 and then in the next verse
  • 21:00 He says...
  • 21:06 Now I don't know about you
  • 21:08 but I've tried to imagine
  • 21:09 just how many grains of sand are there in the world.
  • 21:13 I can't even come close to the number of the grains of sand on this beach
  • 21:17 let alone all the beaches in the world.
  • 21:19 So I don't think that God was saying to Abraham a literal number.
  • 21:23 But I think that what He was saying was, Abraham this is beyond your capacity to imagine
  • 21:28 what I'm going to do through your seed,
  • 21:31 through your people.
  • 21:32 And of course we know from the New Testament that
  • 21:35 when God referred to Abraham's seed singular
  • 21:39 he was referring to the Messiah, Yeshua, Jesus.
  • 21:42 And this is in fact what the entire world has now come to know as the story of the Gospel
  • 21:50 the Good News.
  • 21:52 And so is the sand of the seashore representative of the number of people
  • 21:57 who have come and will come into the kingdom of God?
  • 22:01 I think that's really a good way to look at it.
  • 22:03 However, I also want to draw our attention to the literal fulfillment
  • 22:07 which is that there have been Jewish people, the seed of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob
  • 22:13 who have come back to this Land in a way that is marvelous.
  • 22:17 It's amazing.
  • 22:18 In fact, I myself and my family are the fruit of this promise
  • 22:22 that God would give this Land to Abraham and to his descendants
  • 22:27 in perpetuity - forever.
  • 22:31 So we came over 21 years ago
  • 22:34 and unloaded our possessions
  • 22:37 and have been here in the Haifa Bay area ever since.
  • 22:39 So these waters which really represent the connection
  • 22:44 with all the nations of the world
  • 22:46 also to me speak of the fact that I arrived here on these shores more than 2 decades ago
  • 22:52 And this is become my home.
  • 22:53 In fact, where we're sitting right now is where
  • 22:56 I ride my bicycle here several times a week for some exercise.
  • 23:01 I love coming to the sea.
  • 23:03 It's just an inspiring place.
  • 23:05 So I hope that you can appreciate the relationship
  • 23:09 of the Word of God to Israel today,
  • 23:12 the landscaper, the seascape
  • 23:14 and the people who are around us.
