Episode: “Salvation Returns”
Eitan reminds us that Israel was the “messenger light” to the gentiles; now gentiles take that Gospel message back to where it began. Importer of humanitarian aid Jim Schutz shows how gentile Believers reflect the love of God. An Israeli Jewish man and a Polish Christian woman call us to support the Jewish people. Chaim shows where he was married, and Dana teaches us to say “Jesus” in Hebrew. Jeff Seif discusses applications with David and Kirsten. Messianic Caroline Hyde sings.
Series: “Called Together”
This series focuses on how gentile Christians are beginning to recognize their Messianic brothers and sisters (Jewish believers in Jesus/Yeshua) as the “natural olive branch.” The Lord calls us to work together to bring the Messiah especially to the House of Israel. From the studio, David and Kirsten Hart present these eight programs that feature on-location Bible teaching from “Our Man in Haifa” Eitan Shishkoff, reports from Chaim Malespin, and Hebrew lessons from Dana Feinstein. Guest analyst Dr. Jeffrey Seif helps us apply these teachings to our lives.

Caption transcript for Called Together: “Salvation Returns” (2/8)

  • 00:05 Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they might be saved
  • 00:11 for there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek
  • 00:14 for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon Him.
  • 00:36 Hi, I'm David Hart.
  • 00:37 Welcome to Zola Levitt Presents.
  • 00:39 And I'm Kirsten Hart.
  • 00:40 Welcome to our program and our series "Called Together".
  • 00:43 Yes, it's exciting but also prophetic that
  • 00:46 Gentile Christians are working side by side
  • 00:49 with believing Jewish brothers and sisters to reach the Jewish people.
  • 00:53 That's right,
  • 00:54 originally God called the Hebrew people, the Nation of Israel
  • 00:59 to be the salvation to the entire world.
  • 01:02 That was their purpose.
  • 01:04 That's why God looked on the earth and saw Abram
  • 01:07 and said, Because of your faith I will bless the nations.
  • 01:10 Amen!
  • 01:11 They're called to be the Light.
  • 01:12 Eitan Shishkoff will be continuing his teaching in Haifa.
  • 01:15 Chaim Malespin will have interviews.
  • 01:17 We'll have a wonderful Hebrew lesson.
  • 01:20 Stay with us.
  • 01:27 In a profound conversation within the Godhead recorded by Isaiah
  • 01:32 we hear God speaking to the Messiah and saying,
  • 01:36 It's too small a thing for you to raise up the Tribes of Jacob.
  • 01:40 As you see on the wall behind me the
  • 01:42 banners of the Tribe of Jacob.
  • 01:44 I have given you as a Light to the Gentiles.
  • 01:47 ... or " laGoyim "
  • 01:49 so that you will be my Salvation to the ends of the earth.
  • 01:52 And of course, "My Salvation" in Hebrew is " Yeshu'ati ",
  • 01:55 "My Yeshua", "My Jesus".
  • 01:57 Now, when I was a young man
  • 01:59 I looked at the state of the world
  • 02:00 and I thought to myself,
  • 02:02 something has to correct this mess.
  • 02:04 And of course that was like 50 years ago.
  • 02:06 We're talking about the 1960's.
  • 02:08 And what I thought was, whatever the answer is
  • 02:11 it has to be right, it has to be valid for
  • 02:14 all Tribes, all peoples, all languages,
  • 02:17 no matter what the education no matter what the racial background.
  • 02:20 And you know what?
  • 02:21 It's exactly the cause
  • 02:23 because God says that He loves all mankind
  • 02:27 and that He has sent His Son to save all of us.
  • 02:32 This universality of God's heart for mankind is really
  • 02:36 what led Him to choose Israel in order to be
  • 02:38 a servant people to bring Salvation to all the earth.
  • 02:42 And I want to share with you a couple of places
  • 02:45 in the New Testament that speak about this.
  • 02:47 For instance, in the Book of Acts
  • 02:49 we read...
  • 03:07 What a profound statement of the fact that all mankind is created
  • 03:11 out of one blood, out of Adam, out of one people.
  • 03:14 And in fact, when we look at recorded history,
  • 03:17 approximately a quarter of recorded historic time went by
  • 03:22 before Abraham even appeared on the scene.
  • 03:24 So God obviously has a breadth of concern for all of humanity.
  • 03:30 This is also expressed in the very final book of the Bible,
  • 03:34 the Book of Revelation where we see...
  • 03:47 That beloved, is where we're going to stand
  • 03:49 one day through faith in the Messiah.
  • 03:51 But before then, we have an assignment together.
  • 03:55 And that is to bring His Salvation not only
  • 03:58 to the ends of the earth but also to Israel.
  • 04:02 Lets continue in this profound opportunity
  • 04:06 that has fallen to our generation.
  • 04:16 Eitan, thank you for the reminder
  • 04:17 that the plan of salvation
  • 04:19 is for all people including us.
  • 04:21 David, that's the Good news of the day!
  • 04:25 Now here's Chaim with a prophetic call to all Gentiles.
  • 04:35 Another beautiful morning here
  • 04:36 in our nation's capital, Jerusalem.
  • 04:38 And I'm here with Jim Schutz, my good friend.
  • 04:40 It has been a pleasure to see the fruits,
  • 04:43 the results of the work they've been doing at The Joseph Project.
  • 04:46 He's the CEO of The Joseph Project.
  • 04:48 That's the largest importer of
  • 04:49 humanitarian aide here in the Land of Israel.
  • 04:51 and they are distributing to the poor and needy all over.
  • 04:54 Why do you do this Jim as a Christian?
  • 04:57 There's very clear teaching in the New Testament
  • 04:59 as to why Christians, Gentiles who accepted Jesus as the Messiah,
  • 05:04 how they should relate to the Jewish people and the nation of Israel.
  • 05:07 First of all they shouldn't be ignorant of the mystery.
  • 05:09 They shouldn't be arrogant towards them.
  • 05:10 They shouldn't think that they were removed from the tree
  • 05:13 so that Christians could replace them or something like that.
  • 05:16 Romans 11 is very clear
  • 05:18 and it brings us to a place of mercy that
  • 05:20 it's as if God has been waiting
  • 05:22 to see the fruit of the Gospel in the Gentiles.
  • 05:25 Which is understanding that Israel has a gift
  • 05:28 and calling that can never be revoked
  • 05:30 which will result in life from the dead for the world.
  • 05:31 There's an amazing chapter in the Old Testament
  • 05:33 that gives us a very similar picture.
  • 05:35 And that's Isaiah 49.
  • 05:37 Christians understand Isaiah 49 as speaking
  • 05:39 about the Gospel going to the Nations.
  • 05:42 And you get to verse 12
  • 05:43 and it says,
  • 05:46 Sinim - the Chinese
  • 05:47 Then Zion comes back into the picture
  • 05:49 and says, but God you forgot me.
  • 05:51 And God says, No it is impossible,
  • 05:53 you are written on the palm of my hand.
  • 05:54 And then he goes on as if he's proving to Israel,
  • 05:57 establishing the case about
  • 05:59 his love for Israel that can never be forgotten,
  • 06:02 and how he will prove that to them.
  • 06:03 He says later on,
  • 06:05 I will raise my hand to the Gentiles
  • 06:22 That's the promise here.
  • 06:24 And what is the call to the Gentiles there?
  • 06:26 It is a love that is unusual.
  • 06:28 The love of a foster parent or father
  • 06:31 Or a nursing mother at a time of nursing that's a passion there.
  • 06:34 That child is the center for them of the whole universe, in a way,
  • 06:38 that licks the dust off their feet.
  • 06:40 That's a picture of royalty humbling themselves before
  • 06:44 the precious sons and daughters of Zion.
  • 06:48 This is how God is proving to Zion
  • 06:50 that he hasn't forgotten them
  • 06:52 and he's looking again for the fruit of the Gospel in the nations
  • 06:57 to understand his eternal love for them
  • 07:00 and how important it is for the whole world
  • 07:03 for life from the dead.
  • 07:06 Let's bear fruit together in this
  • 07:08 olive tree as Jew and Gentile.
  • 07:10 Yes, and amen.
  • 07:11 I'm excited.
  • 07:14 David -Now let's go back to Haifa for more teaching from Eitan.
  • 07:18 Imagine that you're standing on the shores
  • 07:20 of the Mediterranean Sea looking out
  • 07:22 and you're watching boats cross in front of your eyes,
  • 07:26 much like the boats that you just saw in this banner.
  • 07:29 This is the way people traveled in the ancient world.
  • 07:31 This is the way that nations were joined together.
  • 07:34 In God's foreknowledge, even in the time of Abraham,
  • 07:37 He saw the incredible need of mankind for His forgiveness,
  • 07:42 for reconciliation with a Holy God.
  • 07:46 And so He told Abraham, initially in Chapter 12 of Genesis,
  • 07:50 Through your seed all the nations, all the
  • 07:53 families of the earth will be blessed.
  • 07:55 Now again, twice more God promises this to Abraham.
  • 08:00 Then the third time He says it as a result of Abraham's obedience
  • 08:04 in the issue of sacrificing his son Isaac.
  • 08:07 Let's listen.
  • 08:27 I love the fact that the Bible connects Hebrew Scriptures,
  • 08:31 New Covenant, it's all really one fabric.
  • 08:33 And in the Book of Galatians
  • 08:35 all the way forward in the 1st Century, we read the
  • 08:38 interpretation that this was "seed" singular, why?
  • 08:42 Because it was a son of Abraham.
  • 08:46 It was a son of Abraham that he was ready to sacrifice.
  • 08:49 And in response covenentally, God had to sacrifice His Son.
  • 08:55 That always amazes me that really it was
  • 08:57 the obedience of one human being
  • 08:59 that brought salvation into all the earth.
  • 09:03 Then we see at the beginning of the New Testament,
  • 09:05 the very first verse of the Book of Matthew,
  • 09:15 So the continuity is powerful.
  • 09:18 And then we come a little bit later on in the Book of Luke
  • 09:21 where Simeon, he's welcoming this child,
  • 09:26 the Christ-child, the Messiah in Jerusalem.
  • 09:30 And here's what he says, because Simeon recognizes
  • 09:34 that this baby is assigned to become the Savior of all the world.
  • 09:55 So this is why we can say
  • 09:57 that Israel is a messenger people
  • 09:59 to bring the Salvation of God
  • 10:01 to all the families of the earth.
  • 10:09 Shalom Havarim
  • 10:10 "Hello Friends'
  • 10:11 Here's a Hebrew word that you can use
  • 10:13 when you bring your petitions before the Lord.
  • 10:15 You can say B'Shem Yeshua
  • 10:17 "In the name of Yeshua."
  • 10:18 And when you pray you can say
  • 10:20 Yeshua ha-Mashiach
  • 10:23 which means "Jesus the Messiah"
  • 10:26 And most importantly we want to say
  • 10:28 Todah Yeshua
  • 10:30 "Thank you Jesus."
  • 10:33 Thank you Deanna for another wonderful Hebrew Lesson.
  • 10:36 David and I love our Founder Zola Levitt
  • 10:40 and the teaching that he gave us.
  • 10:42 This is one of the first things that
  • 10:44 we learned from Zola Levitt
  • 10:46 that the name "Jesus' wasn't really his name.
  • 10:48 It was Yeshua which means "Salvation"
  • 10:51 which is such a beautiful name.
  • 10:53 Yes
  • 10:54 So we have B'Shem Yeshua
  • 10:58 "In the Name of Jesus-Yeshua"
  • 11:02 I love this one.
  • 11:03 Tada Yeshua
  • 11:05 Thank you Yeshua
  • 11:06 Thank you Yeshua
  • 11:08 And we are so thankful to him.
  • 11:09 We will be right back.
  • 11:13 Are Gentile believers meant to adopt the Mosaic Law?
  • 11:15 Is there a separate Salvation Covenant for Israel
  • 11:18 that removes the necessity of Faith in Yeshua?
  • 11:21 Eitan Shishkoff tackles these questions and more
  • 11:24 in today's Resource "What About Us?"
  • 11:27 In this book Eitan uncovers concrete Scriptural evidence
  • 11:30 of God's original plan for Jews and Gentiles
  • 11:34 to become One in Messiah
  • 11:36 and work together for salvation of national Israel.
  • 11:39 Learn the importance of how the Gentile Church
  • 11:41 should relate to the remarkable Messianic movement
  • 11:44 of Jews accepting Jesus.
  • 11:46 An important read for believers in all walks of life.
  • 11:49 Please call us or go online
  • 11:51 and ask for the Resource "What About Us?"
  • 11:55 We'll return to the program in just a moment
  • 11:57 but first I wanted to ask
  • 11:59 if you've ever thought about what it takes to put this program together.
  • 12:03 I can assure you its a lot more than just
  • 12:06 lights - camera - action.
  • 12:08 There's a lot of prayer and planning.
  • 12:10 Our family is a lot like yours.
  • 12:12 We pray and we plan.
  • 12:15 And we hope that you'll be praying for us
  • 12:17 and planning to help support us too.
  • 12:27 If you're thinking about visiting the Holy Land
  • 12:29 come on a Zola Tour
  • 12:31 where the Scriptures come to life
  • 12:33 as you get teaching from a Messianic perspective.
  • 12:36 Our Spring Tour goes to Israel and Petra.

  • 12:43 Come to Israel.
  • 12:45 See the Jewish roots of your faith.
  • 12:47 Call us at 1-800-WONDERS
  • 12:50 Or click on the levitt.com/tour info
  • 12:58 Kirsten and I have both grown up in the Church.
  • 13:00 And every time that we open up our hymnal
  • 13:03 we sing wonderful songs of the Holy Land.
  • 13:06 And I cannot tell you how wonderful it is
  • 13:10 to not only sing those songs
  • 13:12 but to sing them on the grounds
  • 13:15 where Jesus has walked,
  • 13:17 where he has taught,
  • 13:18 where he has healed.
  • 13:20 And we would love for you to join us
  • 13:21 on a Zola Levitt Tour.
  • 13:23 Go to our website levitt.com
  • 13:25 We go every Spring and every Fall.
  • 13:27 And the best thing about the Zola Tours
  • 13:29 of course, you are walking in the Holy Land
  • 13:31 but we have some of the best Messianic Teachers in the world
  • 13:34 that will be with you every single day.
  • 13:36 Now here is Chaim Malespin
  • 13:39 teaching us on "The Cup of Covenant".
  • 13:49 Here we are in Judea and Samaria
  • 13:51 what some call the West Bank
  • 13:52 in what the United Nations calls a settlement.
  • 13:55 Yes this is the very place
  • 13:57 where Abraham, Isaac and Jacob lived,
  • 13:59 dug their wells, planted their vineyards.
  • 14:01 This is right where the sun stood still.
  • 14:03 Where the walls of Jericho fell.
  • 14:06 This is the very place that I was married.
  • 14:09 Not far away from where the Tabernacle rested for 369 years.
  • 14:12 When us Jewish people get married we step on
  • 14:15 what we call the "Cup of Covenant"
  • 14:17 much like this.
  • 14:18 And we seal the deal.
  • 14:20 Now this is directly fulfilling what the
  • 14:24 ancient prophet Jeremiah spoke about
  • 14:26 in Jeremiah Chapter 33 verse 10 where he says
  • 14:30 this place, in the territory of Benjamin,
  • 14:32 in the mountains around Jerusalem.
  • 14:33 And Jerusalem is literally over there.
  • 14:42 She looked amazing that night
  • 14:44 ...the voice of the Bridegroom.
  • 14:45 I didn't look so bad myself.
  • 14:52 And we're seeing that us people getting married
  • 14:54 we're fulfilling those words.
  • 14:56 And what I did
  • 14:57 I took just like we did in the ancient custom,
  • 14:59 I took the cup of covenant.
  • 15:01 I presented it to her father
  • 15:02 and if he agrees to it he takes a sip.
  • 15:04 And he did.
  • 15:05 The we present it to the Bride to be.
  • 15:07 If she agrees she takes a sip.
  • 15:08 And she did - yes.
  • 15:10 And then we go and get married
  • 15:13 and step on the cup and seal the deal.
  • 15:15 I know Passover is coming up.
  • 15:16 That's the time when this Jewish faith
  • 15:19 was presented to any and all who wish to be part of it.
  • 15:23 And they're presented a cup.
  • 15:25 Some call it Communion.
  • 15:27 And that's what we're waiting for now together
  • 15:29 is the marriage in heaven.
  • 15:38 My name is Dima Kavanov.
  • 15:39 I am from Russia and I live in Jerusalem 17 years.
  • 15:44 And I believe all Christians in the world
  • 15:49 should support Jewish people
  • 15:51 because it's the Promised Land and the choice of God.
  • 15:56 And she holds a love in God and you need
  • 16:01 to support the Jewish people I think.
  • 16:05 Could you tell us a little bit about yourself
  • 16:07 and how you caught God's heart for the Jewish people?
  • 16:10 My name is Estera Wieia and I come from Poland.
  • 16:13 Already when I was living in Poland
  • 16:16 I was studying the Scriptures.
  • 16:18 As I was getting deeper into God's Word
  • 16:21 I started discovering not only God's love for the Jewish people
  • 16:25 But also the holidays that Jews celebrate.
  • 16:28 And I was reading the Bible I realized
  • 16:31 that God calls those holidays "His Feasts"
  • 16:34 And so we started studying more and more
  • 16:36 in our church and in our Bible study.
  • 16:38 And somewhere in the process of that
  • 16:41 I felt like the Holy Spirit was telling me,
  • 16:43 Now I want you to get to know my people.
  • 16:46 And so that was a clear message to me
  • 16:49 that I need to come to Israel
  • 16:50 and get to know the Jewish people here.
  • 16:53 And so when I got to know the ICEJ, the
  • 16:56 International Embassy here in Jerusalem
  • 16:59 I felt that was the answer from the Lord.
  • 17:01 And so I joined the media department of the ICEJ.
  • 17:04 And through my work as a writer
  • 17:06 I've been able to serve the Jewish people here in the Land
  • 17:10 but also bless the Church worldwide.
  • 17:14 David - Now let's go back to Eitan as he wraps up this week's teaching.
  • 17:19 The rulership of Israel was committed to the Tribe of Judah.
  • 17:22 And as the son of David, Solomon inherited that rulership.
  • 17:26 He began his reign over Israel by sending a message to King Hiram
  • 17:33 up the coast in the kingdom of Tyre, which is today's Lebanon.
  • 17:37 Together these 2 men, a Jewish visionary,
  • 17:40 and a Gentile king with resources,
  • 17:42 built the Temple in Jerusalem.
  • 17:44 The question is, did they only build it for the Jewish people?
  • 17:48 Or was there something already happening that also included the nations?
  • 17:54 Well let me read to you from Solomon's Dedication Prayer in I Kings 8.
  • 17:59 And I think it will unlock this little question.
  • 18:30 This moves me.
  • 18:32 I just want to say that
  • 18:33 the fact that all the way back then,
  • 18:35 we're talking 3,000 years ago
  • 18:37 when Gentiles were presumably pagans,
  • 18:41 didn't really know the God of Israel,
  • 18:43 couldn't even be saved really, accept through
  • 18:45 the sacrifices of the Temple,
  • 18:47 God was already seeing in the construction of the Temple
  • 18:51 through this Jewish and Gentile king
  • 18:53 really the prayer of all peoples.
  • 18:56 And I love the place that says in Isaiah
  • 19:02 Now, this is going to be expressed in the later days.
  • 19:05 How do I know it?
  • 19:07 For one thing, the prophet Joel says
  • 19:20 Beloved, we're looking at an amazing time of harvest,
  • 19:23 a time when the Good News, the love of God through Yeshua
  • 19:27 is going to go into all the world.
  • 19:29 Just as Yeshua promised to the disciples in the
  • 19:31 very beginning of the Book of Acts, when he says,
  • 19:43 Well, these are the days in which we are living.
  • 19:46 We're going to see the Gospel come full circle.
  • 19:49 It's been to the nations.
  • 19:51 Now it's coming to Israel.
  • 19:53 And we're a part of that together
  • 19:55 just as Solomon and Hiram were.
  • 20:03 Thank you so much Eitan.
  • 20:04 We are back today with Dr. Jeffrey Seif
  • 20:08 who is not only a Bible professor,
  • 20:11 an author,
  • 20:13 but I hear that you are also a policeman.
  • 20:15 Is that right?
  • 20:16 On the side for years.
  • 20:17 I can't believe that.
  • 20:18 How do you be a policeman on the side?
  • 20:20 Girl, they say we choose our end of the law.
  • 20:22 I took it on a whole other level.
  • 20:23 I really do it deep.
  • 20:25 That's good.
  • 20:26 A man of many hats.
  • 20:28 Our teaching today from Eitan,
  • 20:30 we're talking about the call for the
  • 20:32 Jewish people to be a Light to the world.
  • 20:35 And we grew up thinking the Christians were called to be the Light.
  • 20:40 Well!
  • 20:42 (Laughing) Here we go!
  • 20:43 You know...
  • 20:43 Teach us.
  • 20:44 Well the Lord teaches us in Isaiah
  • 20:51 So there it is.
  • 20:53 He says it's not just there for the Jews thing,
  • 20:56 it's something new for the world.
  • 20:58 God's always had a heart for the world.
  • 21:00 I mean, God doesn't want to move amongst a small sector of society.
  • 21:04 There's a lot of people out there
  • 21:06 and God loves them all.
  • 21:07 Well wasn't that their original role
  • 21:09 to bring salvation...?
  • 21:10 Ah, but they did bring salvation, didn't they?
  • 21:12 Yes, and they didn't live it out finally and fully.
  • 21:14 And that was Paul.
  • 21:15 What he tapped into is the plan all along
  • 21:20 was the Torah would point to Yeshua.
  • 21:23 And it was in Yeshua the mandate to go global is fulfilled.
  • 21:27 The world's not going to convert and become Jews.
