In this series we examine how Joshua went from a dependable apprentice to the faithful leader of Israel during the conquering of the land of Canaan, a land promised by God to the children of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Many valuable leadership lessons can be learned from Joshua’s story taught by Dr. Jeffrey Seif from corresponding locations in Israel. David and Kirsten Hart discuss the meaning and application with the Bearded Bible Brothers, Joshua and Caleb, as we see dramatic reenactments of some of the key moments in Joshua’s life.

  • 01:06 Caleb Colson: And I'm Caleb.

  • 01:08 Welcome, friends.
  • 01:10 Joshua: Welcome.
  • 01:11 Guys, this week, I love a good villain in the story.
  • 01:13 Now, not for the sake of it being bad, but I love to see
  • 01:16 what happens to the villain when he faces off with someone good.
  • 01:19 Kirsten: This is really good and evil.
  • 01:21 This is good guy, bad guy.
  • 01:24 You know, the word "greige" is out.
  • 01:27 I don't know if you've heard that.
  • 01:28 We've been painting walls at our home and one of my favorite
  • 01:31 colors is greige, 'cause it's not really dark,
  • 01:34 it's not really light.
  • 01:35 It's kind of right in the middle.
  • 01:37 But this story's not greige.
  • 01:39 It's black, it's white.
  • 01:40 It's good and evil.
  • 01:42 Caleb: And that's not a popular message today, guys.
  • 01:44 People don't wanna know there's good and evil in the world.
  • 01:46 They wanna live in that relativism, that gray zone, just
  • 01:50 like modern superhero movies.
  • 01:52 All the bad guys are just misunderstood villains,
  • 01:54 you know?
  • 01:55 There's no real evil in the world, but there is real evil in
  • 01:57 the world, and this King Jabin is a bad dude and he gathers
  • 02:00 this coalition of all these kings of the northern front for
  • 02:04 this final conflict against the Israelites, and we know God
  • 02:07 is gonna be on the side of the Israelites.
  • 02:10 Kirsten: And he always will be.
  • 02:12 Caleb: He always will be.
  • 02:13 David: I think about Hollywood making evil look like,
  • 02:16 ah, it's okay, everything's good,
  • 02:18 no bad, no evil.
  • 02:20 Caleb: But that's not the case with God, and we wanna be
  • 02:22 on the side of good, on the side of the Lord every time.
  • 02:25 God gave the nations a chance to repent,
  • 02:26 but they chose not to, and this is their downfall.
  • 02:29 David: That's right.
  • 02:30 Right now, let's go to Dr. Seif's teaching
  • 02:32 on location in Israel.
  • 02:34 ♪♪♪
  • 02:44 ♪♪♪
  • 02:52 Dr. Jeffrey Seif: The southern campaign had gone
  • 02:53 remarkably well, much to the chagrin of the locals.
  • 02:58 So you might recall, sometime prior, the Israelites were in
  • 03:01 dread fear because the locals were so tall,
  • 03:04 and they felt like grasshoppers.
  • 03:06 But here, the fortunes of wars has shifted.
  • 03:09 The southern federation of Canaanite peoples had been
  • 03:13 decimated, and word gets up north and there's trouble
  • 03:17 in River City.
  • 03:19 There's a King Jabin.
  • 03:20 It's a dynastic name, and he will mobilize a federation of
  • 03:25 northern Canaanite peoples, to use that term broadly,
  • 03:29 and there will be a battle royal.
  • 03:34 Before I show you from the Scripture,
  • 03:36 let me pull out a map.
  • 03:38 It's not your modern garden-variety map but something
  • 03:41 that might have been used akin to what had been used by the
  • 03:45 locals when they fought here many, many, many years ago.
  • 03:51 And just to show, if you will, this is the Mediterranean.
  • 03:55 The Romans called it Mare Nostrum, I know that I'm getting
  • 03:58 ahead, called "Our sea."
  • 04:01 And the reason why I mentioned it, is that Jabin here, at
  • 04:05 Hazor, was so famous that ancient documents inform of
  • 04:09 political alliances that he had with the states out into the
  • 04:13 sea, Phoenicians, the Cretans, in Cyprus, and he was well
  • 04:19 connected politically, as I noted earlier,
  • 04:22 with all the peoples round about.
  • 04:24 And he is going to mobilize his energies to hold at bay these
  • 04:30 encroaching Israelites that are there with a sense of a divine
  • 04:34 mandate that God has spoken to Moses and directed them onward,
  • 04:40 and Joshua is going onward.
  • 04:43 We're going to hear from Amnon Ben-Tor,
  • 04:46 professor Hebrew University, who's going to talk
  • 04:49 a little bit about Hazor,
  • 04:51 and then I wanna talk a little about the tribal area roundabout
  • 04:55 and then open up the Bible to consider the story.
  • 05:00 Amnon Ben-Tor: We have a huge destruction
  • 05:02 of the Canaanite city.
  • 05:03 Wherever we dig, whether it is on the Acropolis, whether it is
  • 05:07 in the Lower City, the Canaanite period ends with a huge
  • 05:11 destruction, sometimes more than a meter of debris, ashes, wood,
  • 05:18 bricks, fallen bricks, mutilated statues, and the like.
  • 05:24 Which indicates, first of all, that the disaster was
  • 05:27 human-made, it's not a earthquake because no earthquake
  • 05:29 would mutilate the statues in a systematic way.
  • 05:32 So it was manmade and, by now, we can narrow it down to about
  • 05:39 the middle of the 13th century B.C.
  • 05:42 If we're talking about biblical sites, Hazor is
  • 05:45 the number one site.
  • 05:47 There is no other which could even get close,
  • 05:49 because if you're talking just about the period which we have,
  • 05:54 you want the Canaanites, you have them.
  • 05:55 You want the destruction of Joshua, you have.
  • 05:58 You want judges, you have.
  • 06:00 You want Solomon, you have.
  • 06:02 You want Jeroboam, you have.
  • 06:04 You want Ahab, you have.
  • 06:05 You want--you have.
  • 06:07 You can show.
  • 06:09 You can have the debate at Hazor.
  • 06:11 You can show this is the date which, according to the Bible,
  • 06:14 was built by Solomon in the time of Salomon.
  • 06:17 Now you tell me it was not.
  • 06:18 Let's argue about it.
  • 06:20 You see what I mean?
  • 06:22 But there's no other site which has that many strata which are
  • 06:26 somehow related to the biblical narrative.
  • 06:30 Dr. Jeffrey Seif: I have here, Hazor in a bolder, darker
  • 06:35 print, and roundabout in a lighter print, a notation of the
  • 06:39 tribes who, after the conquest of the south and the north and
  • 06:44 some other ancillary battles, eventually are going to go to
  • 06:48 the--their inheritance.
  • 06:50 And I wanna note that there was an inheritance that was given to
  • 06:52 the people of Israel in this land, an inheritance that was
  • 06:56 yesterday, today, and continues on into tomorrow.
  • 07:00 Well, speaking of yesterday, today, and tomorrow, let's open
  • 07:03 up the eternal Word and consider something
  • 07:07 of what's noted therein.
  • 07:10 And where else would I wanna go but to the book of Joshua,
  • 07:14 the 11th chapter.
  • 07:16 It's always nice to see how biblical archeology corroborates
  • 07:20 the biblical text.
  • 07:22 We're going to consider a great war that was fought here in
  • 07:25 Hazor, and you can even see the burn marks.
  • 07:29 The biblical testimony is very clear that there was esh,
  • 07:33 a Hebrew word for fire, and it's noted in the bricks,
  • 07:38 it's noted in the mud, even many years later.
  • 07:42 These stones are crying out and saying,
  • 07:45 "You can trust this literature."
  • 07:47 Well, what does the text say?
  • 07:49 In Joshua chapter 11, verse 1: "It came to pass, that Jabin
  • 07:54 King of Hazor heard these things."
  • 07:57 Jabin was a dynastic name that had gone on for centuries.
  • 08:00 What things did he hear?
  • 08:02 He heard about the Israelite conquest of the south, and he
  • 08:08 was not a happy camper.
  • 08:10 We read on in the literature, he mobilizes peoples roundabout
  • 08:15 and there is a battle royal that is fought here.
  • 08:20 We're told in verse 10, however, difficulties notwithstanding,
  • 08:24 that Joshua, he was successful in his endeavors, and that Hazor
  • 08:29 was struck and the king was struck with the edge of the
  • 08:33 sword, an expression that denotes victory.
  • 08:37 We're told in verse 12: "All the cities of the kings,
  • 08:42 and all their kings, Joshua took and struck."
  • 08:46 Again, a battle royal, a battle that went to the Hebrews.
  • 08:52 I want you to look with me please, we're told in verse 18
  • 08:55 that war went for a long time.
  • 08:57 Not every trial in life goes away just like that.
  • 09:00 Sometimes you have to walk it out.
  • 09:02 But there's a positive end result.
  • 09:04 Go with me, please, to verse 23.
  • 09:05 We're told that Joshua took the whole land according--
  • 09:11 Now, this is important to me.
  • 09:12 It's not just a war.
  • 09:14 We're told that it's according to all that the Lord
  • 09:16 had said to Moses.
  • 09:18 There's divine promise in this.
  • 09:21 This is called the Promised Land,
  • 09:23 because from on high, it's commended--
  • 09:25 a certain place is commended to a certain people.
  • 09:29 We're told because the Lord said to Moses:
  • 09:31 "And Joshua gave it as an inheritance to Israel
  • 09:36 according to their divisions."
  • 09:40 What do we note from the biblical text?
  • 09:42 We note that there was a battle, a battle royal that raged.
  • 09:46 And we know that it went to Israel.
  • 09:48 And it wasn't just the good fortunes of war, but rather it's
  • 09:51 God himself leading a particular people to a particular place
  • 09:55 to accomplish his particular purposes.
  • 10:00 ♪♪♪
  • 10:10 ♪♪♪
  • 10:13 Caleb: Guys, not only were the Israelites outnumbered by
  • 10:16 King Jabin and his coalition, but they had these high-tech
  • 10:20 vehicles of war, Josh.
  • 10:22 They had chariots, they had cavalry.
  • 10:24 The Israelites just had these puny little weapons, and so God
  • 10:27 gives them a battle plan to hamstring the horses and to burn
  • 10:32 the chariots, which most rabbis believe that they did
  • 10:36 the surprise attack at night.
  • 10:37 They had to sneak up and cut the tendons of these horses and burn
  • 10:40 their chariots and then it set the armies
  • 10:42 of the wicked into disarray.
  • 10:44 They're fleeing toward their cities.
  • 10:46 It says Joshua himself conquered Hazor.
  • 10:48 He burned it with fire, and they took all these cities down
  • 10:52 and they obtained victory.
  • 10:53 It was a long time coming.
  • 10:54 You had 100-year-old Joshua at this point, after fighting 7
  • 10:57 years, but they swept up all these kings in one fell swoop.
  • 11:01 It was amazing.
  • 11:02 Joshua: After the 7 years of fighting, the Bible declares
  • 11:04 that Joshua conquered 31 of those Canaanite kings
  • 11:08 that he faced.
  • 11:09 I don't know how many kings y'all guys have destroyed.
  • 11:11 Thirty-one's a big deal.
  • 11:12 And God finally says, "You know what, Josh?
  • 11:14 You've been working really hard.
  • 11:16 You're getting kind of old.
  • 11:17 I'm gonna go ahead and cut you some slack.
  • 11:19 I want you to separate the land, divide it up
  • 11:21 to the 12 tribes of Israel.
  • 11:23 There are still guys you've got to hunt down and fight.
  • 11:25 I want them to go ahead and do that."
  • 11:27 And so Josh's job, Joshua's job was to go ahead and delineate
  • 11:30 that land so that the 12 tribes could then go out and spread
  • 11:33 that--go out and hunt those people down.
  • 11:35 Caleb: Take that act of faith themselves.
  • 11:37 Joshua: Now the question you have to ask yourself is
  • 11:39 we know that Joshua was more than a conqueror.
  • 11:40 He was diligent.
  • 11:42 But what did the 12 tribes do?
  • 11:43 How did they pick up that task?
  • 11:45 Caleb: Well, they failed at that,
  • 11:46 and that's the next episode we're gonna
  • 11:48 talk more to the failure of their victory at
  • 11:50 taking the land, but this brings me to an important point, Josh.
  • 11:54 You know, in Genesis, talks about the days at Peleg
  • 11:57 the land was divided.
  • 11:59 It's--most people take that to believe, okay, there was
  • 12:01 continental drift or something that happened after the time of
  • 12:04 Noah, but if you look into these rabbinical writings, these
  • 12:08 extra-biblical sources, which aren't, you know, Scripture
  • 12:10 but, like, the book of Jubilees, book of Enoch.
  • 12:12 The book of Jubilee states that God had Noah cast lots
  • 12:16 and divide the land amongst the territories of Ham, Shem,
  • 12:19 and Japheth, his sons, so the land was divided
  • 12:21 amongst the territories.
  • 12:23 Well, the interesting thing is that Shem got the territory what
  • 12:26 we would call Canaan from the Brook of Egypt
  • 12:28 all the way up to Lebanon.
  • 12:30 The land of Israel was originally Shem's.
  • 12:33 But here you have Canaan, the already cursed grandson of Noah
  • 12:36 comes up and he decides to sit down and squat on Shem's land,
  • 12:40 on that territory.
  • 12:42 And thus, when God called Abram out of Ur of the Chaldeans to
  • 12:46 the Promised Land, he was just returning the land
  • 12:48 that was rightfully his.
  • 12:50 It just blows my mind.
  • 12:52 That was originally God's plan for Shem.
  • 12:55 Joshua: Well, he had a lot of plans for him and there was
  • 12:57 a lot of weird things that went on with squatters.
  • 12:59 But let's find out exactly what happened as we cut back
  • 13:01 to see this delineation to the 12 tribes.
  • 13:08 Joshua: Canaan has proven to be everything promised
  • 13:10 by Adonai.
  • 13:12 Just as lush as it was when Moses sent Caleb and me
  • 13:16 to scout the land.
  • 13:19 And now the time has come to partition the land to the tribes
  • 13:23 of our people.
  • 13:25 Eleazar, the priest, joins me on this hallowed occasion,
  • 13:31 just as we'd done in Gilgao.
  • 13:34 We have gathered in Shiloh to cast lots for the land
  • 13:38 that the Lord has given us.
  • 13:41 Eleazar: We do so to confirm what Adonai said in ages past
  • 13:44 to Jacob and then to Moses.
  • 13:47 It will not be Joshua nor I who will decide;
  • 13:50 it will be the Lord God of Israel.
  • 13:55 Joshua: You have surveyed the land.
  • 13:57 You know it well.
  • 13:59 We have gathered in Shiloh to cast lots for Judah, Ephraim,
  • 14:04 and the half-tribe on Manasseh.
  • 14:06 They have already received their portions this side
  • 14:09 of the Jordan.
  • 14:11 Eleazar: Gad, Reuben, and the half-tribe of Manasseh have
  • 14:15 acquired their portions over the Jordan to the East,
  • 14:19 as was pledged by Moses.
  • 14:30 Eleazar: Benjamin.
  • 14:31 Joshua: The land between Judah and Ephraim.
  • 14:40 Eleazar: Simeon.
  • 14:43 Joshua: The land within Judah, with the cities and
  • 14:46 villages encircling Bathsheba.
  • 14:56 Eleazar: Zebulun.
  • 14:59 Joshua: The land as far as Sarid, and to the north
  • 15:02 to the valley of Jiphthahel.
  • 15:08 Eleazar: Issachar.
  • 15:11 Joshua: The land from Jezreel reaching to Tabor.
  • 15:19 Eleazar: Asher.
  • 15:24 Joshua: The land from Mount Carmel to the city of Tyre.
  • 15:33 Eleazar: Naphtali.
  • 15:36 Joshua: The land from the terebinth tree in Zaanannim
  • 15:40 to the Jordan and Chinnereth.
  • 15:49 Eleazar: And Dan.
  • 15:51 Joshua: The land from Zorah to Joppa.
  • 15:55 ♪♪♪
  • 16:04 Eleazar: And to you, Joshua, son of Nun, we give Timnath
  • 16:09 Serah in the hill country of Ephraim, just as you requested.
  • 16:20 Dr. Jeffrey Seif: It was a dream come true.
  • 16:22 His mission complete, Joshua would spend the last few years
  • 16:25 of his life in the greet heartland of Israel,
  • 16:28 within the boundaries given to his tribe, Ephraim.
  • 16:33 We've come here to Shiloh many times before as it is such
  • 16:37 an important biblical site.
  • 16:39 And this time, especially, because it's central to the very
  • 16:43 land allotted to Joshua.
  • 16:46 It happened that the Lord blessed the land with rain on
  • 16:49 our visit, so we found shelter within some ancient ruins
  • 16:53 while outside it poured.
  • 16:58 Dr. Jeffrey Seif: Everyone in Israel prays for rain,
  • 17:01 and I'm good with that but I say, "Lord, why today here
  • 17:05 in Shiloh where we have a special TV program?"
  • 17:10 It is special, but you know what?
  • 17:12 So is rain.
  • 17:14 If there wasn't rain, we wouldn't have any of these
  • 17:16 goodies right here.
  • 17:17 We wouldn't have 'em today, and they surely wouldn't have
  • 17:21 had them yesterday.
  • 17:22 They were all farmers, and they relied on the produce
  • 17:27 of the earth.
  • 17:28 In fact, ma'im, the word for water,
  • 17:31 is related to the word "shamayim" or heavens.
  • 17:34 The point is you look at the rain, this outpouring,
  • 17:38 as blessings.
  • 17:39 Even in biblical literature, we talk about the outpouring of the
  • 17:43 Holy Spirit, Lord, pour out your blessings, and it's water
  • 17:46 language and it harks to this agrarian language.
  • 17:51 Well, we're in the thick of it here in Shiloh, a fascinating
  • 17:56 place today, an important place yesterday in Joshua's day.
  • 18:01 We're told, in fact, in the 18th chapter that when the battles
  • 18:06 had run their course, Joshua led the Israelites and they knocked
  • 18:11 out the backbone of the local Canaanite resistance
  • 18:16 and now it's time to divide up the tribes.
  • 18:21 They get their parcels of real estate, their inheritances.
  • 18:25 We're told in the 18th chapter:
  • 18:28 [speaking in Hebrew]
  • 18:33 "And that the whole congregation
  • 18:36 of the Children of Israel assembled themselves
  • 18:38 together at Shiloh."
  • 18:41 [speaking in Hebrew]
  • 18:45 "And they gathered themselves, they assembled themselves
  • 18:48 at the tent of meeting."
  • 18:50 And this is where it was, you know?
  • 18:52 In fact, before Jerusalem became the religious center,
  • 18:56 it was Shiloh for hundreds and hundreds of years,
  • 19:00 and it all starts here.
  • 19:02 And the reason why they gather here is that when they're
  • 19:05 looking to carve out the land, we want the good Lord to lead in
  • 19:10 the apportionment, 'cause you know, people get jealous.
  • 19:12 "Well, so-and-so got better than me, this and that."
  • 19:15 And we're looking for God's hand, even in setting up things
  • 19:19 like that.
  • 19:20 Thus, land was divvied out by lot.
  • 19:23 There's a sense in which let providence, let good fortune,
  • 19:27 decide who gets what.
  • 19:29 And that's how the game was played.
  • 19:31 We're told in verse 10, specifically,
  • 19:34 to read here in the Hebrew,
  • 19:36 [speaking in Hebrew]
  • 19:42 "And Joshua," we're told,
  • 19:44 "cast lots for them at Shiloh"
  • 19:48 [speaking in Hebrew]
  • 19:50 "before the face of the Lord--before the Lord."
  • 19:53 [speaking in Hebrew]
  • 19:58 "And with that, then, Joshua divided up the land."
  • 20:03 [speaking in Hebrew]
  • 20:06 "To the Children of Israel,"
  • 20:08 by their tribes, by their divisions.
  • 20:11 And so it is, as I'd said, when it came to dividing up the land,
  • 20:16 it was determined by providence, not by, you know, jockeying for
  • 20:21 position, who gets this real estate, who gets that.
  • 20:25 Well, this is a story from yesterday.
  • 20:27 It really begs the question: What does it mean today?
  • 20:31 And it's worth spending some time on that because there's a
  • 20:35 difference in the way the respective two testaments
  • 20:38 are oriented.
  • 20:40 I say that, because in the New Testament
  • 20:42 Christians are promised that our commonwealth is in heaven
  • 20:47 and the good Lord in the 14th chapter of the Gospel of John
  • 20:50 said, "I go there to prepare a place for you."
  • 20:55 So, for the Christian, the principal inheritance
  • 20:58 is on the other side of the grave.
  • 21:01 For the Hebrew, the principal inheritance is here.
  • 21:05 And here, it's divided up.
  • 21:07 And many Christians have trouble with the territorial dimension
  • 21:13 to Old Testament religion.
  • 21:14 That is to say, it's tethered to real estate,
  • 21:17 it's tethered to land.
  • 21:20 Even when you observe that, and I hope you see it's clearly--
  • 21:23 I hope you see it clearly, because for my money,
  • 21:26 it is clearly to be observed,
  • 21:28 but even when you see it clearly in the literature,
  • 21:31 you read about it back then, it really begs the question:
  • 21:34 How can someone bring this forward
  • 21:37 and apply it to today?
  • 21:39 In other words, what does the story for the ancient Jew
  • 21:42 have to do with you?
  • 21:44 It's a reasonable story, to my way of thinking.
  • 21:47 Does the notion of a "defined inheritance" only relate
  • 21:50 to them, then, with a heavenly bound inheritance for us today,
  • 21:56 or can the believer in Jesus think in terms of an inheritance
  • 22:01 for today?
  • 22:02 Well, by way of application, let me commend this to you.
  • 22:06 If you were a farmer in ancient Israel, the fact that you had
  • 22:11 land apportionment meant that you had a place to ply a trade
  • 22:15 and enjoy good success in response to your labors.
  • 22:19 And to that end, that story in our world relates to the story
  • 22:25 in this world right here.
  • 22:28 Whether it's the fruits here, whether it's the instruction
  • 22:31 here, whether it's the life that you're living there on the other
  • 22:35 side of that lens in your living room, can God lead you to a
  • 22:39 place where you can make a difference and carve out some
  • 22:43 space for yourself in life to enjoy good success in life?
  • 22:48 I think, friends, the answer to that question in no uncertain
  • 22:52 terms is yes.
  • 22:56 There's a good God.
  • 22:57 In fact, in the New Testament, Jesus says that he'll lead us.
  • 23:00 He's a shepherd who leads us to pasture.
  • 23:03 And we hear his voice behind us, saying,
  • 23:05 "This is the way, walk in it."
  • 23:08 Friends, walk with God and you, like the Jew back then, you
  • 23:13 today can find your place in your Promised Land,
  • 23:19 and you, too, like Joshua, can be more than a conqueror.
  • 23:28 Joshua Colson: I love what Jeff says here.
  • 23:29 He's absolutely right.
  • 23:31 God has a plan, a promise, a territory, for his sons and
  • 23:35 daughters and 99% of the time there's a squatter there named
  • 23:39 Satan who is waiting to try to convince you that it's not
  • 23:42 yours, that God did not have good plans for you or anything
  • 23:45 for you, and you have to fight.
  • 23:47 So many times we get discouraged and we say,
  • 23:49 "God, I thought you had a plan for me.
  • 23:51 I thought that you had a place for me.
  • 23:53 Why is these--this happening to me?"
  • 23:55 But he says, "Stand up and fight."
  • 23:57 He says this to Joshua in this story and he says this to you.
  • 24:00 It is your responsibility to stand up and to claim the
  • 24:05 territory that God has for you, not to back down to what the
  • 24:08 enemy does or the plans that he has for you or the shots
  • 24:11 that he takes against you, because that is your promise.
  • 24:16 Kirsten: The plan in place is very interesting.
  • 24:18 We all want a plan.
  • 24:20 We all want a place.
  • 24:21 And it's so hard to look at the Middle East right now,
  • 24:26 with people, let's say the Palestinians, okay?
  • 24:29 That have been there for a long time, they're saying, "This is
  • 24:31 our land," and the Jewish people of 1948 on are saying,
  • 24:36 "No, this is our covenant land."
  • 24:38 So the Palestinians are saying to the Israelis,
  • 24:41 "You all are squatters.
  • 24:42 You think you can occupy this land.
  • 24:44 It's ours."
  • 24:45 Caleb: Which we know biblically is not true.
  • 24:47 Interesting, our friend Sho'ul explained to us that
  • 24:50 Palestinians, you know, come from Philistines, that term
  • 24:53 which actually meant invaders.
  • 24:55 They were seafaring invaders so when Palestinians going around
  • 24:58 saying, "I'm Palestinian, I have a right to land,"
  • 24:59 they're just saying, "We're invaders.
  • 25:01 We're taking over this land," and it's a spiritual, I think,
  • 25:03 declaration of that, but in all honesty, Palestinians, most of
  • 25:07 them were refugees from Arab nations that were kicked out.
  • 25:11 They were being annihilated.
  • 25:12 They came to Israel, they were accepted with open arms.
  • 25:14 Yasser Arafat, one of the famous PLO terrorist heads
  • 25:18 of the Palestinians, he was Egyptian-born.
  • 25:20 He wasn't, you know, born and raised in the land.
  • 25:24 If--there's always been a small presence of Jewish people
  • 25:27 in the land throughout history, even after 70 A.D.
  • 25:30 when they were scattered.
  • 25:31 And you see throughout history that, you know, there was
  • 25:35 occupiers over the Jewish land.
  • 25:38 Rome occupied Jewish land and the Emperor Hadrian renamed
  • 25:42 Israel Palestine as a mockery to them in connection
  • 25:45 to the Philistine people.
  • 25:47 And so that term, you know, you had the Crusaders come in, the
  • 25:50 Ottomans, you know, the Muslims, and so, yeah, there was a small
  • 25:54 Arab presence that was there for a while, but all these people
  • 25:57 that had held Israel under their dominion,
  • 26:00 they were the occupiers.
  • 26:02 They had their own home country, but this was God's country that
  • 26:05 he gave to the children of Israel.
  • 26:06 Kirsten: And I think what is fascinating, every time that we
  • 26:09 go on tour to Israel, there's new discoveries
  • 26:12 proving who the land belongs to.
  • 26:15 And some of those discoveries are literally just inches
  • 26:18 below the dirt.
  • 26:20 Every time that we go to Israel, we see new things that have been
  • 26:24 uncovered, literally from the dirt that prove
  • 26:26 whose land it is.
  • 26:28 We would love for you to go with us to the actual covenant land,
  • 26:33 the land of Israel, and see these proofs--
  • 26:37 shoot, that's not good English.
  • 26:38 See the proof that God's land is called for the Israelis
  • 26:43 and his hand is on there, so come with us.
