Episode: “The Rapture”
The Rapture is the next stop on God’s Prophetic calendar. Will the Bridegroom rescue His Bride before the Father unleashes His wrath upon the world? To fully understand the timing of this prophetic event, Joshua and Caleb travel to Nazareth to investigate how Yeshua’s own people confused His first and second coming signs. Is it possible that Christians today confuse Yeshua’s Rapture with His Second Coming?
Series: “Roadmap to Armageddon”
With all the prophetic misinformation out there, Joshua and Caleb Colson decide to take a road trip. Guided by the Holy Scriptures, the Bearded Bible Brothers aim to create a chronological roadmap through Israel, detailing key destinations and events leading to the end of time. From the Psalm 83 War, the Rapture, Battle of Gog and Magog and beyond, learn the Biblical order of prophetic events that precipitate Armageddon.

  • 17:49 We wanna be taken in the Rapture guys.
  • 17:52 And once we are, we go before the beam of the judgment seat of
  • 17:55 Christ, we will be judged by Yeshua according to our works.
  • 18:00 This is not a judgment of whether our salvation hangs in
  • 18:04 the balance.
  • 18:05 This is about what rewards we will get and what position we
  • 18:07 will hold in Yeshua's kingdom.
  • 18:09 And afterward, we get to enter the wedding feast, a seven year
  • 18:13 wedding feast and marriage supper of the lamb.
  • 18:15 In the seven years correlates directly with the seven day

  • 18:21 But all during this time, those who are left behind on the earth

  • 18:28 Joshua: Let's read the parable of the 10 virgins, "Then the
  • 18:35 kingdom of heaven shall be likened to 10 virgins, who took
  • 18:38 their lamps, and went out to meet the bridegroom.
  • 18:41 Now five of these were wise, and five were foolish.

  • 18:50 While the bride groom was delayed, they all slumbered
  • 18:53 and slept.
  • 18:54 And at midnight a cry was heard, Behold, the bridegroom is
  • 18:57 coming; go out and meet him.
  • 18:59 Then all of those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
  • 19:02 And the foolish said to the wise, Give us some of your oil;
  • 19:05 for our lamps are going out.
  • 19:07 But the wise answered, saying, No, lest there should not be
  • 19:11 enough for us and you: but go ye rather to those who sell, and
  • 19:15 buy for yourselves.
  • 19:16 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and those who
  • 19:19 were ready went in with him to the wedding: and the door
  • 19:23 was shut.
  • 19:24 Afterward the other virgins came, saying, Lord, Lord, open
  • 19:27 to us.
  • 19:28 But he answered and said, Assuredly I say to you, I do not
  • 19:31 know you.
  • 19:32 Watch therefore, you know neither the day nor the hour in
  • 19:36 which the Son of man is coming."
  • 19:39 Caleb: That's chilling, Josh.
  • 19:40 It's terrifying in a way.
  • 19:42 Do you know that the bride in that story represents
  • 19:45 the church?
  • 19:46 Jew and Gentile, they are one in Messiah.
  • 19:48 Now for many years, pastors said that it's the the virgins that
  • 19:51 represent the church.
  • 19:52 But no, they represent the Jewish people.
  • 19:54 It's terrifying that only half of those Jewish people who are
  • 19:57 meant to be a light to the Gentiles, could lead that bride
  • 20:00 to the bridegroom Messiah.
  • 20:02 Only half of them had the oil of the Holy Spirit filling their
  • 20:05 lamps, and were allowed into that wedding feast.
  • 20:08 But the door was shut on the rest of them.
  • 20:11 Joshua: I hate to think about it but I suspect that when that
  • 20:14 shofar, that trumpet blows on that day, that there will be
  • 20:17 congregations across this world still half full of people.
  • 20:21 Maybe these people are counterfeit Christians.
  • 20:23 Maybe they were never saved to begin with.
  • 20:25 They never fully committed their lives to Yeshua, but for

  • 20:56 Caleb: Paul said, Yeshua is gonna come like a thief in

  • 21:36 Now, talking about the Rapture, we've said it's imminent.
  • 21:39 Some people don't believe in it.
  • 21:41 The doctrine has actually been in question now, as of late of
  • 21:43 whether or not this is a recent doctrine, that only began in
  • 21:46 the 1800s.
  • 21:47 Caleb: That's right.
  • 21:48 They say John Darby invented this doctrine, but it actually
  • 21:50 goes back even further guys.
  • 21:51 There are documents that have come to light that explain that
  • 21:54 the early church Fathers taught this doctrine and to discuss
  • 21:58 this, we went to an expert Lee Brainard, who's going to tell
  • 22:01 you more about this.
  • 22:02 Lee W. Brainard: There's a tremendous amount of evidence in
  • 22:05 the early church fathers, particular the first two
  • 22:07 centuries, but even up into the 5th and 6th centuries, there's
  • 22:11 pre-trib Rapture references.
  • 22:14 I was doing research for a different book and I stumbled
  • 22:17 across a passage in Ephraim, the Syrian, which was a stunning
  • 22:21 Rapture reference, can I just read one?
  • 22:24 Caleb: Yes, go ahead. I'd love to hear this.
  • 22:26 Lee: So here's one of the passages I found in Ephraim
  • 22:27 the Syrian, "For the elect shall be gathered prior to the

  • 22:35 tribulation coming upon the unrighteous world."
  • 22:38 Caleb: Wow.

  • 22:50 of many?
  • 22:51 Lee: Yes.
  • 22:52 Caleb: What time period was that from the Syrian?
  • 22:54 Lee: The Syrian would have been writing in the early
  • 22:56 4th Century.
  • 22:58 Caleb: Early 4th Century, but you found earlier writings

  • 23:00 Lee: Oh, yes, we found, there's four clear
  • 23:02 Rapture references, pre-tribulation Rapture
  • 23:05 references in the writings of Irenaeus who was in the first
  • 23:07 half of the Second Century.
  • 23:09 And we even have pre-trib Rapture references in the
  • 23:12 Didache, which was written probably between AD 70, AD 100.
  • 23:16 So it is likely written while the Apostle John was
  • 23:20 still alive.
  • 23:21 Caleb: Wow.
  • 23:23 And for me who have never heard of Irenaeus, what's
  • 23:25 his connection?
  • 23:27 How do we, what's so important about this man?
  • 23:29 Lee: Well, Irenaeus was a disciple of Polycarp, and
  • 23:32 Polycarp was a disciple of John.
  • 23:34 So Irenaeus in his book against heresies clearly states that he
  • 23:39 learned his prophetic teachings from the elders who studied
  • 23:43 under the apostles.
  • 23:46 Kirsten: I for one, am so thankful for the difference in
  • 23:51 Rapture, and Second Coming.
  • 23:53 I'm thankful for the two of you giving us that insight because I
  • 23:57 think in the church, we kind of, I don't know, there's so
  • 24:00 many things.
  • 24:01 We jumble the Rapture with the Second Coming, and one isn't
  • 24:05 distinct from the other.
  • 24:06 And I'm like which one has the trumpet?
  • 24:07 Is everyone seeing this?
  • 24:09 So I'm thankful that you are kind of answering some questions
  • 24:12 for us, and the importance of why we differentiate between
  • 24:16 the two.
  • 24:17 Joshua: Well, nobody wants to ask those questions, obviously,
  • 24:19 you know that.
  • 24:20 We saw the felt board in Sunday school and there was no two
  • 24:22 separate felt pieces for that.
  • 24:23 And nobody wants to feel weird, but they are very different.
  • 24:25 And the harpazo, the catching away of the bride of Christ, is
  • 24:30 going to happen before the tribulation.
  • 24:32 And we get that assuredness in the Bible.
  • 24:33 But we also hear Paul give us that when he's talking about the
  • 24:37 church in Thessalonica.
  • 24:38 Caleb: That's right.
  • 24:40 So it's not just the church day back, you know, during the time
  • 24:42 of Paul, the church at Thessalonica thought they
  • 24:44 missed it.
  • 24:45 They thought they missed the Rapture, they thought they
  • 24:46 missed the Second Coming and they were confused
  • 24:48 concerning eschatology.
  • 24:49 Kirsten: Is it like that Larry Norman song, You've Been
  • 24:51 Left Behind.
  • 24:53 Do you remember that?
  • 24:54 That's interesting that back then they thought, yeah.
  • 24:56 Caleb: So in second Thessalonians 2, Paul had to set
  • 24:58 them straight on the timing of certain events, which is
  • 25:01 very interesting.
  • 25:02 In verse 3, he says, "Let no one deceive you by any means; for
  • 25:06 that Day, the day of the Lord of the Second Coming, will not come
  • 25:09 unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin, the
  • 25:13 son of perdition is revealed."
  • 25:15 So people are saying, well, what does that mean?
  • 25:17 He's talking about the final day, the beast has to come
  • 25:20 before that.
  • 25:21 And he said, well, what about the Rapture?
  • 25:22 How do we know the Rapture happens before the beast?
  • 25:24 The next verse tells us that.
  • 25:25 Joshua: 6 to 8 says, "And now you know what is restraining
  • 25:30 him, the beast, that he may be revealed in his own time.
  • 25:32 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who
  • 25:35 now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way.
  • 25:39 And then the lawless one will be revealed."
  • 25:41 Caleb: So what Paul is saying is there are certain, I would say
  • 25:45 barriers, keeping the Antichrist from being revealed,
  • 25:47 prophetic barriers.
  • 25:49 One of those is with the capital H, the He, the Ruach Ha-kodesh,
  • 25:52 the Holy Spirit that lives within us keeps the beast from
  • 25:56 being revealed.
  • 25:57 Because just one believer, I believe on this earth could stop
