Episode: “Mountaintop Experience”
On the Mount of Transfiguration, the Father honored His Son. Yeshua gave authority to His Disciples and sent them out.
Series: “Close Encounters with Yeshua”
This ten-program series focuses on how Jesus/Yeshua supernaturally came and ministered on Earth, and today calls all mortals to draw near to Him. David and Kirsten Hart introduce each episode from the studio, while Myles and Katharine Weiss teach in Israel, using dramatic re-enactments and interviews with Believers about their journeys to faith in Yeshua, the Jewish Messiah.

Caption transcript for Close Encounters with Yeshua: “Mountaintop Experience” (7/10)

  • 00:01 I'm Kirsten Hart.
  • 00:02 Welcome to Zola Levitt Presents
  • 00:04 And I'm David Hart.
  • 00:05 Today's drama mentions one of
  • 00:07 my favorite Bible Characters as a child,
  • 00:09 "Zacchaeus".
  • 00:10 Remember that song?
  • 00:12 The end of the song he says
  • 00:13 "Zacchaeus, you come down."
  • 00:15 [David and Kirsten singing] "For I'm going to your house today."
  • 00:17 Myles and Katharine will be teaching in northern Israel.
  • 00:21 And we'll have an interview with a Jewish believer
  • 00:23 who searched years for truth.
  • 00:25 Stay with us.
  • 00:35 It was not long ago our first encounter
  • 00:37 on the waters of the Galilee.
  • 00:39 My hand is completely restored.
  • 00:42 He said, Your faith has saved you.
  • 00:45 I've heard Yeshua speak in our synagogue.
  • 00:48 He talked about the Kingdom of God.
  • 00:51 Then He showed us His wounds in His hands and His feet.
  • 00:55 I believe He really is a King.
  • 01:08 Shalom Havarim,
  • 01:09 Hello Friends, I'm Myles Weiss
  • 01:11 And I'm Katharine Weiss.
  • 01:12 Welcome to "Close Encounters with Yeshua"
  • 01:14 "Yeshua", the Hebrew word for saying "Jesus".
  • 01:17 Yeah, I love this part of the story because
  • 01:20 we're going to see the way that God comes to the least among us
  • 01:24 and changes our lives.
  • 01:25 Right
  • 01:26 It's a true story.
  • 01:27 We took time for people to identify who Jesus is.
  • 01:30 And it's the same today.
  • 01:32 He wants to bring us healing,
  • 01:33 He wants to bring us new life.
  • 01:35 But we have to wrestle with the identity.
  • 01:37 I feel like sometimes we're similar to Paul on the Road to Damascus
  • 01:41 asking, Who are you Lord?
  • 01:42 Right, we try everything,
  • 01:44 but God says, No, try Me and I will save you.
  • 01:47 I love Zacchaeus.
  • 01:49 He really knew he needed a Savior.
  • 01:51 I think that's what we all need to come to.
  • 01:53 It says in Luke 19,
  • 01:59 But he also made the effort.
  • 02:01 He climbed the tree.
  • 02:02 He made the effort to see
  • 02:04 "I'm a sinner in need of a Savior".
  • 02:06 Yes, it was an urgency about seeing who Jesus is,
  • 02:09 finding out if He's the Promised One.
  • 02:11 Right
  • 02:11 So let's go to our drama.
  • 02:13 We're going to be seeing how the people
  • 02:15 are inquiring about this miracle that's
  • 02:17 happening in Zacchaeus' life.
  • 02:19 Not a well-liked man and transformation comes to him.
  • 02:22 So let's pick up our drama right now.
  • 02:32 He healed another man today...
  • 02:35 a blind man.
  • 02:38 And he healed me.
  • 02:39 Which is why I have been following him for days.
  • 02:42 [sighs]
  • 02:45 The big stir here in Jericho
  • 02:46 concerns a local tax collector
  • 02:48 named "Zacchaeus".
  • 02:50 A wealthy man, full hearty...
  • 02:53 a "sinner",
  • 02:55 like all the other tax collectors
  • 02:57 but I must admit I admire him,
  • 03:00 eh - short of stature
  • 03:01 but big of heart.
  • 03:04 Wanted to see Yeshua so badly that he
  • 03:06 climbed a tree to get a better view over the crowd.
  • 03:09 Yeshua spotted him
  • 03:10 and told him to get down because
  • 03:12 he had to stay in his house.
  • 03:14 There was an immediate muttering
  • 03:17 about his going to a house of a sinner.
  • 03:20 I don't know what happened there.
  • 03:24 But I do know that Zacchaeus is a different man.
  • 03:29 He says that Yeshua told him,
  • 03:31 Salvation had come to his house because
  • 03:34 he was [speaking Hebrew] "a son of Abraham".
  • 03:39 I know he can heal.
  • 03:43 He healed me!
  • 03:45 And I...I now better understand this "Salvation".
  • 03:50 Yeshua gave us a reason to live.
  • 03:54 Sin...is dead.
  • 03:58 Like Zacchaeus, I have a new life...
  • 04:03 will never... never be the same.
  • 04:06 [Sighs in relief]
  • 04:18 Wherever Yeshua went lives changed whether
  • 04:20 it was down in Jericho with Zacchaeus, we read about in Luke 19, or
  • 04:25 up here in the north where things are going to get very interesting
  • 04:28 as Peter is about to come to a specific
  • 04:30 revelation about the person of Yeshua.
  • 04:35 There's several levels of understanding that we see in the world.
  • 04:38 And I want to go over them with you
  • 04:40 because I think it's really fascinating.
  • 04:42 The first level of understanding has
  • 04:43 to do with information.
  • 04:45 We can gather that
  • 04:46 from the Internet,
  • 04:47 from libraries,
  • 04:48 from reading.
  • 04:49 The next level is knowledge,
  • 04:51 direct experience.
  • 04:52 The kind of witness that you'd see in a court case.
  • 04:56 "I saw this happen",
  • 04:57 this is direct knowledge.
  • 04:58 And then a little higher than that is wisdom
  • 05:01 which comes from integrating the Scriptures
  • 05:04 and seeing things through the
  • 05:06 conglomerate understanding of the Bible.
  • 05:09 That's wisdom that comes from above.
  • 05:11 And then beyond that,
  • 05:12 which Peter is about to experience
  • 05:14 is revelation knowledge,
  • 05:16 direct revelation that comes out of heaven.
  • 05:20 We come to Caesarea Philippi
  • 05:24 which was the portion of the north that was
  • 05:26 dedicated to Philip of the Herodian line.
  • 05:29 So he was partly Jewish but the city was a pagan city.
  • 05:33 In fact, Yeshua didn't even go all the way into the city.
  • 05:35 It says in Matthew 16,
  • 05:42 It's a very demonic kind of place
  • 05:45 that back then was known as "The Gates of Hell"
  • 05:47 allegedly that the god of "Pan" dwelt there.
  • 05:52 And there was human sacrifice and orgies
  • 05:54 and all kinds of wantonness given there
  • 05:58 to appease the gods of the underworld.
  • 06:01 So it was known as a place of deep superstition.
  • 06:04 And somewhere Yeshua would demonstrate
  • 06:08 that He is above and beyond all of that.
  • 06:11 We come to Caesarea Philippi
  • 06:14 and Peter is confronted with
  • 06:18 the question that Yeshua asks,
  • 06:20 "Who do men say that I am?"
  • 06:23 And the disciples offered different examples...
  • 06:26 Perhaps you're Elijah, or you're John come back.
  • 06:30 They're fishing so to speak.
  • 06:33 Fishermen are fishing for an answer.
  • 06:35 And then we see Peter
  • 06:39 in his first instance as that
  • 06:41 solid rock that he is going to become.
  • 06:44 He looks at Yeshua
  • 06:45 and he says,
  • 06:50 Yeshua's testimony to him is,
  • 06:52 Simon "Bar-jonah",
  • 06:54 Simon "son of Jonah"
  • 06:56 identifying him with that renegade prophet
  • 06:58 who did come back to purpose of God,
  • 07:00 as Peter will.
  • 07:02 He said to him,
  • 07:07 In other words, this is not information,
  • 07:09 this is not knowledge,
  • 07:10 this is not even wisdom.
  • 07:11 This is revelation.
  • 07:13 My Father in Heaven has revealed this to you.
  • 07:22 And it is from that understanding
  • 07:25 that we see that Yeshua is about
  • 07:28 to give authority to the disciples.
  • 07:30 And if you are a believer,
  • 07:31 if you're a disciple,
  • 07:32 if you're a follower of Yeshua
  • 07:34 then you also have this authority,
  • 07:36 and he says, the gates of hell
  • 07:38 will not prevail
  • 07:39 against my [speaking Hebrew] community of faith.
  • 07:43 That's a great testimony.
  • 07:45 And Peter in expressing that gets the name "Petros"
  • 07:48 He says "Kaifa" - "Rock"
  • 07:50 in Greek "Petros".
  • 07:52 That you are a "Rock" as well.
  • 07:54 And it's interesting to note that although
  • 07:57 the Church is not built on Peter the person,
  • 07:59 he played a very seminal role in being the Pastor
  • 08:02 in Jerusalem to the Jewish people
  • 08:03 and also at the house of Cornelius in Acts Chapter 10
  • 08:07 bringing the Gospel to the Gentiles for the first time.
  • 08:11 The voice of God is beginning to speak directly to Peter.
  • 08:15 What a fantastic change that he's about to through.
  • 08:28 Our offer on this program,
  • 08:30 "Sons of Israel"
  • 08:33 3 DVD's featuring the teaching of
  • 08:35 Zola Levitt on location in Israel.
  • 08:38 This 9 part series chronicles the
  • 08:40 fascinating lives of
  • 08:42 some of God's key men
  • 08:44 from Abraham, Moses and David
  • 08:46 to the Messiah and the Apostles.
  • 08:49 An informative and stunningly beautiful
  • 08:52 history of the people God chose
  • 08:54 and the special men among them
  • 08:57 that He used for His purposes.
  • 08:59 A 9 part series on 3 DVD's,
  • 09:02 "Sons of Israel".
  • 09:06 Hi, my name is Belinda Moon
  • 09:08 and I'm a 2nd generation contributor to Zola Levitt Ministries.
  • 09:12 My parents supported the ministry and
  • 09:14 I found it when Myles and Katharine came on board.
  • 09:17 Through their teaching I have learned a lot
  • 09:19 about the Bible and why it's important
  • 09:21 for me to stand with Israel.
  • 09:23 Please join me in supporting this ministry.
  • 09:39 We're here at the foot of Mount Tabor
  • 09:40 up in the north in the Galilee area
  • 09:43 where the main ministry of Yeshua started.
  • 09:46 It was really throughout the northern part
  • 09:48 but at the Galilee of the Gentiles he began his ministry
  • 09:51 He was ministering to those who had been in darkness
  • 09:54 according to Isaiah chapters 8 and 9.
  • 10:00 And that is what is happening here in the north
  • 10:03 as we get into Matthew 16 and 17
  • 10:05 from Caesarea Philippi up to Mount Hermon
  • 10:09 God is doing these amazing things with the disciples
  • 10:12 We know that Tabor is a round small mount obviously.
  • 10:17 It also means "a drum", "a small drum",
  • 10:19 the same root word for a drum.
  • 10:21 And it was actually used as a signal area by the Sanhedrin.
  • 10:26 They would light signal fires
  • 10:28 communicating that the holidays, the festivals were beginning.
  • 10:31 And then that would go through the Land.
  • 10:34 But that's one of the reasons why people believe,
  • 10:36 some scholars believe,
  • 10:38 that this might not have been where
  • 10:40 the Transfiguration took place because
  • 10:42 there was too much activity here.
  • 10:44 And in the Scriptures it talks about Yeshua taking the Disciples,
  • 10:48 Peter, James and John,
  • 10:50 up to a high place and there's a reference
  • 10:54 of solitude or a sense of solitude there.
  • 10:57 So the disciples are about to come into
  • 11:01 this unique and one of a kind
  • 11:03 moment of revelation.
  • 11:05 But not before Peter blunders
  • 11:07 having just received the revelation,
  • 11:10 "You are the Messiah, the Son of the Living God",
  • 11:12 he immediately brings another voice to bear
  • 11:15 by trying to dissuade Jesus from going to the cross, may it never be.
  • 11:19 And that's where Yeshua says the most salient and incredible pointed
  • 11:24 admonishment that we see where he says to him,
  • 11:28 Get thee behind me Satan.
  • 11:30 You're speaking from hell.
  • 11:32 You're speaking from a different point of view
  • 11:34 than what my ultimate destiny is, which is
  • 11:36 to provide Salvation by my own suffering,
  • 11:39 by my own Sacrifice,
  • 11:41 because of the purity of my blood.
  • 11:44 So Peter goes from recognizing the Messiahship of Jesus
  • 11:47 to trying to talk him out of what he's about to do.
  • 11:50 And now they're heading up to a high place,
  • 11:52 to a high mountain.
  • 11:54 Now we first read about this area,
  • 11:56 especially Mount Tabor.
  • 11:58 We read about it in Joshua.
  • 12:00 It's really noted as the boundary
  • 12:02 between the Tribe of Issachar and the Tribe of Zebulun.
  • 12:06 And then we see it again
  • 12:08 in Judges Chapter 4, verses 6 through 15
  • 12:11 where Deborah steps up and leads the Army
  • 12:15 against the General Sisera
  • 12:18 because none of the men would step up.
  • 12:20 Barak, the General, was not ready and so
  • 12:22 the Hebrews had to have Deborah step up.
  • 12:25 A great instance of a woman becoming a leader and taking
  • 12:29 the role of a military leader
  • 12:33 because the men did not step forward.
  • 12:36 and there was a great defeat of Sisera at that time.
  • 12:40 When the Disciples come up to this high place
  • 12:43 it's interesting to note that when we hear the voice of God
  • 12:47 recognizing from heaven the beloved Sonship of Jesus
  • 12:52 we first hear it at the baptism by John
  • 12:56 [Speaking Hebrew] John the Immerser
  • 12:59 down near Jericho near the Jordan
  • 13:02 near the Dead Sea and the lowest place on earth
  • 13:05 we hear,
  • 13:09 And then now, in the highest place in Israel, Mount Hermon,
  • 13:12 we're going to hear it again
  • 13:14 and the Disciples are going to hear it.
  • 13:16 They're going to hear the voice from heaven once again,
  • 13:19 "This is my Beloved Son: hear Him."
  • 13:21 Now, not only did the Disciples hear
  • 13:24 the voice of the Father acknowledging Yeshua
  • 13:27 but we also see the appearance of Moses and Elijah.
  • 13:44 Yeshua took his disciples up to
  • 13:46 the Mount of Transfiguration
  • 13:48 where God is going to have an impact,
  • 13:50 strong impact upon the disciples.
  • 13:53 We believe it's Mount Hermon in
  • 13:54 the north of Israel.
  • 13:56 It's the highest mountain in Israel of 9,000 feet.
  • 13:58 And the voice is going to come.
  • 14:01 We are familiar with Mount Hermon
  • 14:04 from Psalm 133.
  • 14:06 [Myles speaking the verse in Hebrew]
  • 14:09 It speaks about unity among the brethren.
  • 14:11 It also goes on to speak about
  • 14:13 the anointing of the Lord.
  • 14:14 Right
  • 14:15 The dew of Herman coming down over his disciples,
  • 14:19 The anointing.
  • 14:20 Over Aaron's beard all the way down his garment.
  • 14:24 So a picture of the "Head" - "Yeshua"
  • 14:26 and the "Body" - the "Disciples",
  • 14:28 and the Anointing of the Lord.
  • 14:30 It's hard to imagine what it would be like
  • 14:33 to be on the mountain.
  • 14:34 To be those disciples
  • 14:35 and to see Yeshua transfigured before their eyes.
  • 14:39 Here they were asleep
  • 14:41 but God Himself visited them on the mountain.
  • 14:44 He came
  • 14:45 and He came with Moses
  • 14:47 and He came with Elijah,
  • 14:48 the "Law" and the "Prophets"
  • 14:50 Yeshua said,
  • 14:52 "I did not come to abolish the Law and the Prophets,"
  • 14:55 "but I came to fulfill it."
  • 14:57 "I came to make it complete."
  • 14:59 And he begins his transformation
  • 15:01 which he will complete on the road to Emmaus to his disciples.
  • 15:05 He begins to show them the end from the beginning.
  • 15:08 "I am from above"
  • 15:09 "but I'm here to take your sins away."
  • 15:12 He talks about that he will suffer many things
  • 15:15 by the hands of the religious leaders and he will die.
  • 15:17 But there is a place that he's
  • 15:19 preparing them and preparing us for.
  • 15:21 It's glory.
  • 15:23 We were made for glory.
  • 15:25 And even Moses on the Mount of Sinai
  • 15:27 went up to get the Law and when he came back
  • 15:30 his face was shining with so much Shekhinah
  • 15:33 the people said, "Put a veil over it!"
  • 15:35 And I think we've experienced the Glory of the Lord.
  • 15:39 I know that I hope all of you have
  • 15:41 experienced the Glory of the Lord
  • 15:43 because we're changed from Glory to Glory.
  • 15:45 I love the connection with
  • 15:47 Aaron the High Priest
  • 15:48 and the Chief High Priest, the Great High Priest, Yeshua.
  • 15:51 We see that Mount Hermon picture
  • 15:54 of the dew, the anointing on Aaron's beard
  • 15:56 going down through the body covering his whole garment,
  • 15:59 and then Yeshua, himself transfigured as Light,
  • 16:03 so much so that it was overwhelming to the disciples,
  • 16:07 and Peter seeing that, saying "Let's build Tabernacles here."
  • 16:12 And sometimes you hear a preacher mock that
  • 16:14 but really, I believe Peter was seeing something
  • 16:16 about where we are going
  • 16:18 in the fulfillment of all things.
  • 16:20 If you remember, it was after 6 days
  • 16:23 that we came up on this mountain and
  • 16:24 Yeshua brought the disciples up on the mountain.
  • 16:27 And it's really looking forward...
  • 16:29 It's a picture of the 7th day of rest.
  • 16:32 The millennium that's coming
  • 16:34 at the end of 6 days,
  • 16:36 the 7th day will be that 1,000 year reign
  • 16:38 of Sabbath Rest with Yeshua as The King.
  • 16:41 It's connected to the Aaronic blessing
  • 16:44 and the Light of God shining upon all those who hear,
  • 16:48 from Numbers 6:24,
  • 16:50 and also a Blessing being on them.
  • 16:53 What a picture!
  • 16:53 You know, God is saying,
  • 16:54 "Arise and shine,"
  • 16:56 "for the Glory of the Lord is risen"
  • 16:58 "upon you."
  • 17:00 The King is coming.
  • 17:43 Back in 1979, a long time ago.
  • 17:47 I was going to say just a couple of years ago.
  • 17:49 I had the privilege of recording a song entitled
  • 17:51 "I Walked Today Where Jesus Walked"
  • 17:54 Some of you may have heard it.
  • 17:55 Maybe I'll even have a chance to sing it
  • 17:56 on this program sometime.
  • 17:58 It wasn't until our first trip to Israel
  • 18:01 that the song came to life.
  • 18:04 And we would love for you
  • 18:05 to experience a Zola Levitt Tour with us.
  • 18:08 You can find all the information on levitt.com
  • 18:11 We have tours both in the Fall and the Spring.
  • 18:13 We would love for you to join us.
  • 18:15 We love when people want to send their
  • 18:16 Pastor and his family to Israel.
  • 18:19 If you can't go send your Pastor.
  • 18:21 If you think your Pastor preaches great now,
  • 18:24 wait till he has experienced the Holy Land.
  • 18:27 It will be a whole new level.
  • 18:29 That's right.
  • 18:30 And now we'll hear from a
  • 18:31 Jewish believer who made Aliyah.
  • 18:35 Well, it was quite a journey.
  • 18:37 I grew up in America.
  • 18:40 I came from Tipp City, Ohio.
  • 18:42 And didn't really grow up...
  • 18:44 wasn't very religious in any way.
  • 18:46 One parent was from a somewhat Christian background,
  • 18:51 the other Jewish, but it was more of a secret.
  • 18:54 It was a family secret really.
  • 18:56 And I have two older brothers.
  • 18:58 And I remember when I was very little
  • 19:00 hearing them talk about us being Jewish.
  • 19:03 And then I said something about it,
  • 19:04 "Be quiet, be quiet".
  • 19:05 "Don't mention it around Dad.",
  • 19:07 that we weren't even supposed
  • 19:08 to mention that we were Jewish.
  • 19:10 So I didn't know what that meant.
  • 19:12 And then, I remember when I was in 5th Grade Social Studies Class.
  • 19:17 They said, "Is anybody in here Jewish?"
  • 19:19 And I thought for a moment.
  • 19:20 "I wonder if I'm supposed to raise my hand?"
  • 19:22 And then she said, "Yeah, I didn't think we had anyone Jewish."
  • 19:25 They said, "This is what Jews are like."
  • 19:26 And she started describing religious Jews.
  • 19:28 And I thought, "I've never heard any of this stuff."
  • 19:31 So that confirmed in my heart,
  • 19:32 "I'm not Jewish, whatever that means."
  • 19:35 But then when I went to college,
  • 19:36 I went to Ohio University,
  • 19:38 And when I was there I went to a Church service.
  • 19:41 And I had been looking in all
  • 19:42 kinds of different directions...
  • 19:43 New Age, Hinduism, all kinds of...
  • 19:46 I was open to anything.
  • 19:49 And I went to this Church Service.
  • 19:50 And as we worshipped you could feel the
  • 19:52 Presence of God come into this place.
  • 19:55 And with all my New Age stuff
  • 19:57 that I was into and things like that,
  • 19:59 I had to admit that this was something different,
  • 20:02 that there was something real here,
  • 20:04 that I knew that God was there.
  • 20:06 And so, they gave an invitation
  • 20:08 for anybody that wanted to know
  • 20:10 that they would go to heaven if they died.
  • 20:13 And I thought, "Well, sure I'd want to know that."
  • 20:14 Anyone that wants to know God?
  • 20:15 "Sure I want to know that."
  • 20:17 So I went forward and I prayed.
  • 20:18 And then, I guess you'd say I became a Christian,
  • 20:21 I became a Believer in Yeshua...In Jesus.
  • 20:24 And then I started reading my Bible.
  • 20:27 And as I read my Bible
  • 20:28 I saw all this stuff about Israel.
  • 20:30 And I got to Leviticus
  • 20:33 and I'm reading about these Feasts.
  • 20:35 And I asked my Pastor, my campus Pastor,
  • 20:38 I said, "Well I'm reading about all these holidays in the Bible."
  • 20:42 "Why don't we do these things?"
  • 20:44 And he said, "Well, because we're not Jewish."
  • 20:47 And I thought, "Well, so what?"
  • 20:49 I said, "It's in the Bible."
  • 20:50 "Why aren't we doing what's in the Bible?"
  • 20:52 And then I really started thinking about it.
  • 20:53 I thought, "But wait a second,"
  • 20:55 "I guess I'm kinda Jewish."
  • 20:57 "Does that mean I'm supposed to be doing those and he's not?"
  • 21:00 So I just started really getting interested in the holidays and the Feasts.
  • 21:03 And from there God just took me one step at a time
  • 21:07 until we got to a point where I felt like the Lord just spoke to me,
  • 21:12 very directly and said, "You need to acknowledge that you're Jewish."
  • 21:15 And I said, "Okay Lord, whatever that means I'll embrace it."
  • 21:19 Came to visit Israel,
  • 21:21 and God really just brought a lot of things alive in my heart.
  • 21:25 And then sometime after that,
  • 21:27 a number of years after that,
  • 21:29 I felt like God was saying, "It's time to come home,"
  • 21:32 "time to take my family to Israel to make Aliyah",
  • 21:36 the term "Aliyah" meaning "Coming back to the Land of Israel as a Jewish person",

  • 22:57 And Joshua came into the Promised Land.
  • 22:59 He crossed the Jordan River.
  • 23:00 And the Gibeonites tricked him.
