- 01:05 Shalom and welcome to our program; I'm Myles Weiss.
- 01:07 And I'm Katharine Weiss.
- 01:08 And welcome to our series Jerusalem: Ancient Gates, Future Glory.
- 01:13 It's really true isn't it?
- 01:14 The gates of the Old City lead in, they tell a historical,
- 01:17 a present time and a future truth that we can learn from.
- 01:21 And this is a particularly exciting show
- 01:23 because it has to do with what happened in 1967.
- 01:27 You know we speak about the prophetic time clock
- 01:30 starting in 1948 when Israel came back to the Land.
- 01:33 But 1967 - a special time.
- 01:36 Well, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah started to roar!
- 01:40 Exactly so, He roared through the Lion's Gate.
- 01:42 And that's what we'll be speaking about.
- 01:44 We're going to be hearing from a commander known as "Katcha"
- 01:47 who was actually leading the paratroopers
- 01:49 as they broke through the Lion's Gate and retook Jerusalem in 1967.
- 01:54 We're also going to hear from our expert on the Gates - Tamar.
- 01:58 She's going to be interviewed by Katharine.
- 02:00 In fact let's go to that right now.
- 02:01 Let's go to Katharine's interview with Tamar in Jerusalem.
- 02:07 What a privilege.
- 02:08 I know that you're the 10th generation of Israeli in the Land.
- 02:12 And the Gates...when you come to Jerusalem
- 02:15 they actually speak to you.
- 02:16 What do they say to you?
- 02:18 Well, I have to say that the fact that I'm a past generation born in Israel
- 02:21 is I merited to be there because I was just born.
- 02:25 But the fact that I wanted my kids to be born in Jerusalem.
- 02:32 I think that's very powerful.
- 02:34 As for the Gates,
- 02:36 the fact that my forefathers when they arrived in this country
- 02:40 Was in the year we don't know exactly the details.
- 02:42 It was in the year 1777.
- 02:45 There was a big immigration of Hasidim coming from Poland.
- 02:48 I can just imagine how it felt to them to finally after such a long, long ride from Poland,
- 02:56 you know, through the sea and walking from Jaffa...
- 02:59 stand here!
- 03:00 Can you imagine it?
- 03:02 I get chills just thinking about it!
- 03:03 Right?
- 03:04 And then see the Gates.
- 03:06 And probably... maybe it was closed,
- 03:08 maybe it was early in the morning.
- 03:10 They used to go close the gates those days in the 18th century.
- 03:13 Maybe they had to knock on the door.
- 03:15 It's not so sure that it's going to be open for you.
- 03:19 So I can just imagine my forefathers
- 03:21 the little family of Jewish people coming from so far away from home
- 03:25 knocking on the doors of Jerusalem and then it suddenly opens and they're in.
- 03:29 I also have to mention that those days in the 18th century
- 03:33 Ashkenazi Jews were not allowed into the City.
- 03:36 They were not allowed to live in the City.
- 03:37 There was a very old debt that was not paid for the Muslims.
- 03:41 And the Ashkenazi Jews were actually kicked out of the City.
- 03:44 So the fact they married to be here
- 03:47 I'm sure they were so excited.
- 03:48 So for me... I was born here.
- 03:50 And that's something that I always have to remind me.
- 03:52 And remind my kids... I mean
- 03:54 Guys we were born here, we speak Hebrew, we can walk into the City of Jerusalem every day.
- 04:00 But let's remember that there have been times we just were not allowed.
- 04:05 And you know what?
- 04:06 It's not even that far away.
- 04:08 Think of what 40 years ago when the City was Jordanian for 19 years.
- 04:12 It was my grandfather and my mother who were not allowed to go in.
- 04:15 So the fact that we today here are entering the Gates of Jerusalem
- 04:20 being able to go and see all the Holy sites.
- 04:22 I think it's incredible.
- 04:24 (Katharine speaking) Scripture says in the Psalms
- 04:26 I was glad when they said unto me
- 04:27 let us go to the House of the Lord.
- 04:29 Our feet shall stand within your gates.
- 04:31 And you get to do this on a regular basis.
- 04:34 Right, I know that it's a great thing.
- 04:37 I appreciate it.
- 04:39 And I think it's important to say it.
- 04:41 Because I look around I see tour guides, Israelis.
- 04:42 You know they go to the Old City every day.
- 04:46 And I can see it in their eyes that they kind of lost it.
- 04:49 And I have to say I am completely honest about this.
- 04:52 Whenever I come up to the Gates of Jerusalem I'm excited.
- 04:55 It moves me...really.
- 04:57 The fact that I get to see a different Gate every time.
- 05:00 8 Gates...I mean you can choose.
- 05:03 You can decide which Gate you want to choose today.
- 05:06 I want to say something about the names of the gates.
- 05:09 You see every gate that is mentioned...
- 05:12 every Gate has a different name.
- 05:14 And whenever I enter the Old City through a different Gate
- 05:18 I always say the name of the Gate to myself in Hebrew.
- 05:21 WOW
- 05:22 Like Jaffa Gate that would be in Hebrew "Yafo".
- 05:25 And I'm saying okay Yafo.
- 05:27 What would that word say to me today?
- 05:29 So for example today Yafo sounds to me like "Yophi"
- 05:32 which stands for beauty in Hebrew.
- 05:34 And I'm saying maybe this is what this Gate is telling me today.
- 05:37 Look at the beauty around you.
- 05:39 And it could be another day where I go through the Lion's Gate.
- 05:42 So a lion is "Aryeh" in Hebrew.
- 05:45 So Aryeh sounds to me like "ra'hah"
- 05:48 which is "to see"
- 05:51 but maybe more of observe, notice.
- 05:53 And maybe this is what the Gate is telling me today.
- 05:56 Take a look around.
- 05:57 Not just look but maybe observe, feel it, see what it says to you
- 06:01 I agree with you completely.
- 06:02 This City absolutely speaks to you and to me.
- 06:06 Thank you.

- 06:52 (Myles Weiss speaking) We're coming to you from St. Stephens Gate, the Lion's Gate.
- 06:56 What a beautiful place to remember the first martyr of the church.
- 07:00 The one who gave his life and was so full of faith and power
- 07:03 that it was convicting to all of the surrounding people.
- 07:06 Absolutely
- 07:07 Before us is Mount Scopus.
- 07:09 Behind us you go through to the Arab Quarter.
- 07:13 And you can see behind us also on the arch of this gate
- 07:16 the two lions.
- 07:18 You know it was in 1967
- 07:20 that the Lion of the Tribe of Judah roared.
- 07:24 And they took back the City of our God through this Gate.
- 07:28 If you go through this Gate you come to St. Anne's Cathedral
- 07:31 where pilgrims like to come and sing to the Lord.
- 07:33 But also, right next to it is the Pool of Bethesda
- 07:36 which was the place where the man stayed for 38 years
- 07:39 waiting for healing.
- 07:40 And he said that the angels had to stir the waters
- 07:43 and he couldn't get in and all of the mishegas, that craziness.
- 07:46 Actually it goes back to Greek mythology.
- 07:48 It's suspected though that there may have been a natural healing
- 07:52 power there because of the lanolin from the sheep
- 07:54 that were also brought through this Gate periodically.
- 07:57 So we're not sure if there was some natural ability.
- 07:59 But we do know this; we know that when Yeshua came
- 08:02 He said to the man, rise up, take up your bed and walk.
- 08:06 And He overrode all the natural, and all the demonic, all spiritual issues
- 08:10 and said to the man, you are healed.
- 08:12 And so that's the issue that comes to mind when we're at this Gate.
- 08:16 Is will the church also rise up in power and be willing to say
- 08:20 "stand up and walk you are healed" as well.
- 08:23 And it's important for us to remember at this place
- 08:25 that God is wanting to remind us to stand with the body
- 08:30 just as Stephen stood for the LORD
- 08:32 so there are believers in this city both Jews and Arabs
- 08:36 that are standing for Yeshua.
- 08:38 We need to pray for them, for everyone that takes a stand for Yeshua Ha Meshiach.

- 10:50 that you can actually see people come alive,
- 10:52 their spirits come alive when they're in the Land.
- 10:55 And it's really our joy to bring people there.
- 10:58 It's really a pilgrimage.
- 11:00 You need to come with us.
- 11:01 Well... let's go back to Jerusalem.
- 11:15 We're here at Sha'ar Ha'aryot, The Lion's Gate.
- 11:18 This is a powerful place because it has so much history regarding the life of the church
- 11:24 but also the political life and the historical life of Israel.
- 11:28 It was through here that the IDF came in 1967...
- 11:32 retrieved the Old City for the Jewish people.
- 11:35 And I think about the scripture in Psalm 24:10.
- 11:39 (Speaking Hebrew)
- 11:43 Who is the King of glory?
- 11:45 The Lord of hosts.
- 11:47 And it really speaks to us about the power and the importance
- 11:50 of Yeshua as the Captain of the Hosts of the LORD.
- 11:54 You know He came as a Lamb but He's returning as a Lion.
- 11:57 And so there is a military aspect to what happens here.
- 12:01 But we don't wrestle against flesh and blood.
- 12:03 This is not primarily a battle of flesh and blood.
- 12:06 It is a spiritual warfare.
- 12:08 Because our desire, as the LORD's desire is that none should perish
- 12:12 but that all would come to everlasting life.
- 12:15 You know this goes all the way back to Genesis 49:9
- 12:18 where the prophecy came through Jacob over all of his children.
- 12:21 And when he came to Judah he said that Judah would be as a Lion.
- 12:25 And then thousands of generations forward from there,
- 12:29 many, many generations forward from there
- 12:32 Yeshua was born to the Tribe of Judah as the greater son of David.
- 12:36 David was of that tribe.
- 12:38 Yeshua, Jesus, is of that tribe as well.
- 12:40 And that's why when Revelation tells us, who is worthy to open the Book?
- 12:45 There was grieving and mourning because no one was worthy.
- 12:47 But aha, there is One worthy.
- 12:50 And that is The Lion of the Tribe of Judah.
- 12:52 He is worthy to open the Book of Life
- 12:55 and to speak about life everlasting to all those that are turning to Him.
- 13:02 You know this is an interesting place
- 13:04 because the Arabic people here call this the Gate of the Tribes
- 13:08 because in their history they believe that this is where
- 13:13 the Tribes of Israel entered into this area
- 13:16 before it was established by David as Jerusalem.
- 13:20 You know 3,000 years ago David established this as the City, as the Capital of the City of David
- 13:26 But the Arabic folks call it the Gate of the Tribes.
- 13:29 Isn't it interesting that there's so much of a battle
- 13:33 over the reality of the Jewish presence in the Land
- 13:36 whether there is any actual historicity to the temple, to the Jewish history here.
- 13:41 And it's being disputed.
- 13:43 There's holocaust denial.
- 13:45 There's Jewish presence denial about Israel.
- 13:47 And yet...
- 13:48 the Arabic people themselves
- 13:50 call this the Gate of the Tribes.
- 13:52 So they are verifying in their own history,
- 13:54 in their own view of this area
- 13:57 that this goes all the way back
- 13:59 to the entrance of the tribes of Israel into this part of the Land.
- 14:02 The King of Glory is going to be seen here again.
- 14:06 We need to be praying that the King of Glory is seen before His return,
- 14:10 that those who come here as pilgrims,
- 14:12 that those who come here and live here,
- 14:14 that those who make Aliyah
- 14:16 that pilgrims that come
- 14:17 will all see the King of Glory.
- 14:19 Who is this King of Glory?
- 14:21 The LORD strong and mighty.
- 14:23 His Name? Yeshua Ha Meshiach, Jesus Christ.
- 14:39 You know several of these gates have two names.
- 14:42 And it's really evident with the Lion's Gate is also named Stephen's Gate.
- 14:46 I made mention that the Lion's Gate also refers to the LORD taking back the city.
- 14:54 The Lion of the Tribe of Judah in 1967 He roared through that area and opened the way back up
- 15:01 for the people of Israel to take back their temple mount.
- 15:05 You know it's so interesting isn't it
- 15:07 that you can really only understand the politics of our era
- 15:10 through the lens of scripture.
- 15:12 And there's such an interplay
- 15:14 between the political and the spiritual
- 15:16 between the biblical and the political.
- 15:17 They're really melding together and winding together.
- 15:21 Think about the Lion's Gate,
- 15:23 Sha'ar Ha'aryot, the Gate of the Lions.
- 15:26 But also notice St. Stephens Gate
- 15:28 because traditionally it's the site where Stephen was martyred.
- 15:31 Stephen was one of the early disciples.
- 15:33 He was a man full of wisdom and power.
- 15:35 Acts Chapter 6 and 7 we see him being raised up as a servant in the congregation.
- 15:41 And yet because of the anointing on him
- 15:44 God was working miracles, signs and wonders through him.
- 15:47 So much so that he became a spokesman for the faith.
- 15:50 Right
- 15:51 And it was Rav Shaul, Rabbi Saul, who becomes the Apostle Paul
- 15:55 who really was the witness to and that testified against him.
- 16:00 They got people to testify against him.
- 16:03 But think about this.
- 16:04 I've never really thought about this before
- 16:06 but Stephen was a lion for the faith.
- 16:08 He was bold.
- 16:10 He was bold as a lion for the faith.
- 16:11 He was able to stand up as a Jewish person.
- 16:14 He never converted from Jewishness.
- 16:17 He stood up as a Jewish believer
- 16:20 and stood in the congregation
- 16:22 and was martyred for his faith
- 16:24 supposedly right there at that site.
- 16:26 And now we see the interplay with the Lion of the Tribe of Judah
- 16:29 taking the Land back,
- 16:31 taking back Jerusalem and preparing us all,
- 16:34 the entire world, is being prepared
- 16:37 for the coming of the Lion of the Tribe of Judah.
- 16:40 It's quite a story.
- 16:41 He came once as a Lamb but He's returning as a Lion.
- 16:44 That's right
- 16:45 Get ready, right?
- 16:47 So let's go to Jerusalem now and hear David Dolan, our good friend and journalist
- 16:52 interview Katcha, the Colonel who was involved
- 16:54 in actually coming through the Gate
- 16:57 and taking back Jerusalem in 1967.
- 17:03 You're known as "Katcha" here in Israel known by everyone.
- 17:06 One of the most famous commanders of the Six Day War.
- 17:09 Your battalion, the 55th, took this Gate during the conflict.
- 17:13 Loss of men...
- 17:14 tell us about that day.
- 17:16 It was a great day in my life I can say.
- 17:23 I...because the minutes that I came toward this Gate between the first soldiers it was big.
- 17:30 I cannot even explain to tell you how it was.
- 17:37 But all the war, all the battle for Jerusalem it was something special.
- 17:43 Because I fought before and later on in 73 I crossed the Suez Canal to Egypt.
- 17:51 In 82 I was a Brigade Commander and I fought in Lebanon.
- 17:56 So all my life from 1952 I used to fight for my Country.
- 18:02 It was a big privilege for me.
- 18:04 But when we fought here in Jerusalem
- 18:08 we felt that we stepped on our own history.
- 18:11 Because you know, most of the names of the mountains of the wadis, of the valleys
- 18:17 the same names that you can find in the Bible from 3,000 years ago, from 3,500 years ago.
- 18:25 It's unbelievable.
- 18:27 We run here on this road in this direction to the Gate.
- 18:34 And suddenly I heard the noise of the half tracks.
- 18:38 And my Brigade Commander with another two half tracks, three half tracks
- 18:42 They came and stood straight like this...nobody shoot.
- 18:47 They didn't shoot and we didn't shoot.
- 18:50 And he passed us and he knocked the door.
- 18:55 (David) He knocked this Gate here.
- 18:56 This Gate here.
- 18:58 He knocked it with his car.
- 19:01 And the right door opened to this place like you see it is now.
- 19:05 The left one fell down.
- 19:07 You can see that it's not staying on the place.
- 19:10 Still now it's not on the place.
- 19:12 (David) No..you're right
- 19:14 You can see that one it's on the place.
- 19:16 This one is on the outside a little bit.
- 19:19 And he ran and we ran after him.
- 19:22 And he drove to the left.
- 19:26 And we drove and we ran after him.
- 19:30 And he drove through that Gate.
- 19:33 That Gate is narrow.
- 19:35 He couldn't pass through.
- 19:36 They lifted the cars, the half tracks out.
- 19:39 And they ran inside and we ran after them.
- 19:43 And we dance and we jump and we cry and we laugh.
- 19:47 So this is the Temple Mount right here.
- 19:48 Yes...yes... that area 50 meters.
- 20:03 And when you heard that announcement on the radio from your commander,
- 20:08 "the wall is in our hands"
- 20:10 I was next to him ...I stood there.
- 20:11 You were standing there next to him.
- 20:13 Yes, I was next to him.

- 24:05 We are so grateful for Marty's music.
- 24:07 It is so inspiring.
- 24:08 I love the way that he sings the scripture.
- 24:11 You know when I think of Israel Myles
- 24:13 I think of that it's a modern rebirth state obviously.
- 24:18 But it's a modern miracle in our day that we're witnessing.
- 24:21 It's Ezekiel 37 you know?
- 24:23 God shows Ezekiel.
- 24:25 Here it is, they're in the valley of the dry bones.
- 24:28 These people are dead.
- 24:30 It's the holocaust.
- 24:31 And there is nothing but the wind of the God,
- 24:34 the breath of God, and the prophetic Word of God
- 24:36 that can draw the people out
- 24:38 could breathe breath into them
- 24:41 add sinew, bone and joint and marrow
- 24:43 and put them together as His people.
- 24:46 Call them from the north from Russia
- 24:49 bring them home, plant them in their land
- 24:52 and then cause this little "rag tag team" to be able to go in
- 24:57 and take back that which God had ordained them to have.
- 25:01 And they did it because of the scripture.
- 25:03 They didn't do it as an act of violence.
- 25:06 But they did it as a fulfillment
- 25:07 of God calling them and anointing them to do it.
- 25:10 It's kind of like David, David and Goliath
- 25:13 same kind of scenario.
- 25:16 Wow, that is really well said.
- 25:19 I couldn't have put it any better.
- 25:20 That there's just...
- 25:22 Yes, the holocaust was an impetus in the modern world
- 25:26 for the rebirth.
- 25:27 But the idea goes back to the beginning of time.
- 25:31 The idea has been in the heart of God forever.
- 25:34 And so it's His fulfillment of His Word.
- 25:36 And that's what we're seeing unfold now.
- 25:38 It's so amazing.
- 25:40 I mean no wonder when the paratroopers came through the Lion's Gate
- 25:43 you really get a sense of the importance of that Psalm 100:4
- 25:47 It says,
- 25:48 (Speaking Hebrew)
- 25:50 We enter His gates with thanksgiving.
- 25:52 And what a testimony from Katcha
- 25:54 from the Colonel who was on the scene.
- 25:56 To hear him say that he knew he was doing something that was connected to the Bible,
- 26:02 connected to thousands of years of history.
- 26:04 It was a deep experience.
- 26:06 It was hard to communicate.
- 26:07 Exactly, and not just a war.
- 26:10 But something that is important.
- 26:13 It has to happen; had to happen.
- 26:15 And will continue to be controversial until the Lord comes.
- 26:18 I mean it is amazing that the Temple Mount area was given back to the Muslim authorities.
- 26:24 Immediately...Right
- 26:25 A little frustrating for those of us who are Jewish and Christian.
- 26:28 It's a little frustrating
- 26:30 that the Muslim authorities have that power right now
- 26:33 and that it's controversial for a Jewish person to go up there to pray.
- 26:37 But... I think that because it is the epicenter of the battle
- 26:42 because it is God's place
- 26:44 that God Himself will have to settle it.
- 26:47 And He will.
- 26:48 He is.
- 26:49 He will.
- 26:50 And so that's what we're looking forward to.
- 26:52 We know the time is coming
