Caption transcript for Dateline Jerusalem: “Temple Conference” (10/10)

  • 00:01 ♪♪♪ male announcer: God could have chosen anywhere on earth,
  • 00:13 but he chose Israel. He could have revealed his redemption anywhere;
  • 00:15 he chose Jerusalem.
  • 00:18 The house of the Lord might have been any place on earth;
  • 00:21 he chose Mount Moriah.
  • 00:23 Past, present, and future, the mountain of the Lord has been a
  • 00:27 beacon of hope and remains a strategic site for the next
  • 00:32 temple of God.
  • 00:35 "Dateline Jerusalem: The Coming Temple."
  • 00:40 David Hart: Thank you so much for joining us.
  • 00:42 We are in the last program of this wonderful series,
  • 00:44 "Dateline Jerusalem."
  • 00:46 Kirsten Hart: Right, thank you for all that you've done.
  • 00:47 Okay, this is a interesting subject.
  • 00:49 What are we about to see right now?
  • 00:51 Caleb Colson: There's a lot of groups in Israel trying to
  • 00:53 raise temple awareness, sacrificial awareness,
  • 00:55 and you're about to witness an event that not many people have
  • 00:57 seen: the sacrifice of a goat done by actual Levites.
  • 01:01 David: Happens in Israel. Let's go there right now.
  • 01:05 Caleb: An event was recently held near the entrance to
  • 01:07 Jerusalem's Western Wall, in which the Temple Institute and
  • 01:10 other Jewish organizations pooled their resources together
  • 01:13 in expressing the importance of the temple.
  • 01:16 "Moving Forward to the Temple" was written in large Hebrew
  • 01:19 letters so that no one could question the reason
  • 01:21 for the event.
  • 01:22 With a large graphic representation of the temple
  • 01:25 behind them, priests demonstrated the procedures that
  • 01:28 took place in the temple's past and what they anticipated in the
  • 01:31 coming temple.
  • 01:33 They blew trumpets, said prayers,
  • 01:35 and even sprinkled blood on a makeshift altar.
  • 01:38 We asked one of the priests to explain further.
  • 01:41 male: In the army, we always have what's called
  • 01:46 [speaking in Hebrew]
  • 01:47 We do dry runs before we use real bullets,
  • 01:52 and here, very soon, we are now in the redemption period and
  • 01:58 we're going to be soon going back,
  • 02:01 all of us kohanim, priests, will be working again in the temple
  • 02:07 and we are practicing all what we need to do in the temple so
  • 02:12 that we're ready very soon to do it for real.
  • 02:16 This is what the kohanim wore, exactly what they wore in the
  • 02:20 temple, except for we need to be barefoot.
  • 02:26 In essence, we are shutafim, partners with God, right?
  • 02:35 We will do anything for the love--
  • 02:38 for the object of our love, which is God, and God will do
  • 02:42 anything for the object of God's love,
  • 02:45 which is the Jewish people.
  • 02:46 Caleb: Much like the bar mitzvahs,
  • 02:48 which also happened at a nearby Western Wall,
  • 02:50 there was reason to celebrate on this very special occasion.
  • 02:54 This event sent a clear signal to the world that a temple was
  • 02:57 forthcoming and preparations should be made for a
  • 03:00 long-anticipated day of redemption.
  • 03:03 Joshua Colson: On our most recent trip to Israel,
  • 03:05 the Temple Mount Jerusalem Convention was happening.
  • 03:07 Voices from around the world speaking on the topic of a Jew's
  • 03:11 right to traditionally practice temple worship
  • 03:13 on the Temple Mount.
  • 03:15 We cut now to hear the varying perspectives that were displayed
  • 03:18 at this conference.
  • 03:20 Caleb: Up first, will be Doron Keidar,
  • 03:22 the executive director for Cry for Zion,
  • 03:24 the hosting organization for the Convention.
  • 03:27 Doron is a Christian who has worked in the security sector in
  • 03:30 Israel for 15 years.
  • 03:32 Here now is Doron in Jerusalem.
  • 03:35 Doron Keidar: We started this Convention to bring together
  • 03:39 Jews and Christians to discuss the issue of the Temple Mount
  • 03:41 for the first time, I think, in roughly 2000 years,
  • 03:47 where the opposite faiths come together about anything,
  • 03:50 really, and we personally saw an opportunity with the Temple
  • 03:54 Mount as a unifying factor.
  • 03:58 It's a place where, in Christianity,
  • 04:02 Jesus goes up with his disciples to Jerusalem and he points
  • 04:06 out the--and emphasizes how important Jerusalem is to him
  • 04:09 and then his followers after him continued in those footsteps and
  • 04:14 that passion for Jerusalem and for the temple,
  • 04:17 that's where the early church, if you will,
  • 04:20 that's where they would convene, that's where they would gather,
  • 04:22 that's where they would meet, it says "daily," actually.
  • 04:25 So if I want to aspire to see a temple built in Jerusalem and
  • 04:31 the sacrificial system to be restored here in Jerusalem,
  • 04:34 and the Levitical priesthood and so on,
  • 04:37 you know, worshiping up on the Temple Mount,
  • 04:40 and bringing my kids up to go worship in Jerusalem and
  • 04:43 literally go up to the temple, that is marred with the fear of
  • 04:50 what about the Islamic bloc, what about the international
  • 04:54 community, right?
  • 04:55 We have all these other strains on us that are basically saying,
  • 04:59 "Are you crazy?
  • 05:01 You're gonna start World War III here,
  • 05:02 you know, this aspiration of yours."
  • 05:04 And then you find yourself in a small,
  • 05:08 so-called "radical group," right, that's been marginalized
  • 05:12 by the media, and so that's what we're trying to do here
  • 05:15 with this Convention.
  • 05:17 We've tried to bring some really different voices and you're
  • 05:20 gonna see that in the lineup if you noticed of the speakers.
  • 05:23 We're having a very dynamic list of speakers and people that are
  • 05:27 not what you would think are all about the Temple Mount.
  • 05:31 And that's why I want you to recognize,
  • 05:32 it's not the settler community that's a bunch of radicals.
  • 05:35 It's not the Temple Mount Faithful people that are a bunch
  • 05:37 of radicals.
  • 05:38 It's not what your media is gonna label
  • 05:40 as a bunch of radicals.
  • 05:41 They're about this movement.
  • 05:43 This is a movement that is growing in--
  • 05:46 and it's growing daily.
  • 05:48 And the amount of Jews going up to visit the Temple Mount,
  • 05:50 even with all the Islamic threats and with the terrorism
  • 05:54 and with everything, we're going up.
  • 05:58 We're not shying away. This is another generation.
  • 06:03 Caleb: Remember just as Doron said,
  • 06:04 these individuals are offering different perspectives,
  • 06:07 even from your bearded hosts on television.
  • 06:09 It's important to note certain contentious subjects as West
  • 06:13 Bank settlers, that's territory that was given to the children
  • 06:16 of Abraham.
  • 06:18 Judea and Samaria is their rightful land.
  • 06:20 And we also support other organizations such as the Temple
  • 06:23 Mount Faithful, but we wanna hear now from Yehuda Glick as he
  • 06:26 discusses the importance of Mount Moriah.
  • 06:29 Yehuda Glick: Let's hear a "hineni."
  • 06:31 Hineni was the announcement that Abraham said when he came to the
  • 06:34 Mountain of Moriah and said, "Here I am, HaShem.
  • 06:37 I'm ready to serve you. Use me for what you need me.
  • 06:39 Here I am."
  • 06:41 Hineni is the call that we have to say to HaShem,
  • 06:44 and HaShem could put us everywhere,
  • 06:45 wherever we are, but we have to start.
  • 06:48 It can't be that Jerusalem Day is only celebrated here.
  • 06:51 It has to be an international Zion Day because God gave the
  • 06:54 presence not only [audio error] Israel.
  • 06:56 It's a house of prayer for all nations,
  • 06:58 and the mission when HaShem chose the people of Israel,
  • 07:01 he said, "You are to serve as a source of blessing to the
  • 07:05 families of the earth."
  • 07:07 So that's our concept. We're not here for ourselves.
  • 07:10 HaShem didn't pick us up for ourselves.
  • 07:12 He took us and he blessed us and he said,
  • 07:14 "You'll be blessed for the nations."
  • 07:16 And now, just like the Zionist movement said,
  • 07:19 we have to take the destiny in our hands,
  • 07:22 the same exact way.
  • 07:24 Lars Anarson: Without Jerusalem being restored,
  • 07:27 without God restoring his own people and,
  • 07:32 like it says, the delivery will come from Zion and he will
  • 07:36 banish ungodliness from Jacob.
  • 07:38 In other words, before God fulfills all of his promises to
  • 07:43 Israel, we are never going to see the kingdom of God come.
  • 07:48 We're never going to see the ultimate solution for the world.
  • 07:54 We have to fulfill our role in seeing the fulfillment of God's
  • 08:03 purposes and destiny for Jerusalem.
  • 08:07 Never forget this: the Deliverer will come from Zion.
  • 08:15 It's not going to come from Rome,
  • 08:18 it's not going to come from Dallas or Moscow.
  • 08:23 The ultimate deliverance for mankind is going to come from
  • 08:28 Jerusalem, from Zion.
  • 08:30 So let's not try to redefine these things.
  • 08:34 Jerusalem is not the church. Jerusalem is Jerusalem.
  • 08:38 That's what part of what Paul is trying to say there
  • 08:41 in Romans 11, that-- don't be too--
  • 08:44 think you are too-- more important than you are.
  • 08:47 The Deliverer will come from Zion.
  • 08:51 So here, we read about this deliverance: "It shall come to
  • 08:54 pass in the latter days that the mountain of the house of the
  • 08:59 Lord shall be established as the highest of the mountains,
  • 09:06 and shall be lifted up above the hills;
  • 09:09 and all the nations shall flow to it."
  • 09:14 We must have this ultimate vision for the world in our
  • 09:17 hearts of this salvation that is going to come,
  • 09:21 this deliverance that is going to come,
  • 09:23 out from Zion, out from Jerusalem.
  • 09:27 And verse 3: "Many people shall come and say: 'Come,
  • 09:31 let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
  • 09:35 to the house of the God of Jacob.'"
  • 09:39 Because it's going to be a house of prayer for all nations.
  • 09:45 "'And that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk
  • 09:50 in his paths.'
  • 09:53 For out of Zion," out of Zion, "shall go forth the law,"
  • 09:59 or teaching, "and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem."
  • 10:05 Caleb: It's absolutely true that we can't take biblical
  • 10:07 places and prophecies and things and make them a metaphor to suit
  • 10:11 our own personal desires.
  • 10:13 Yerushalayim is Yerushalayim, and God's words will be
  • 10:16 fulfilled, and one of those prophecies is about the third
  • 10:18 temple, but it cannot be built until they have the ceremonial
  • 10:22 ashes of a red heifer, para aduma,
  • 10:24 and we've been covering that story from the beginning.
  • 10:26 Kirsten: Oh, you turned to me when you talked about heifer.
  • 10:30 David, take him down, babe.
  • 10:31 Joshua: Only 'cause they're still spotless.
  • 10:33 Kirsten: I'll take the spotless, thank you.
  • 10:34 Caleb: There you go, good save.
  • 10:36 David: You were there when we were in Dallas trying to get--
  • 10:38 Caleb: I took a selfie with the red heifer.
  • 10:40 I thought this was the prophetic moment to say, "Hey, guys.
  • 10:42 I was here."
  • 10:43 David: Incredible.
  • 10:44 Joshua: Well, what we know is that their plan is
  • 10:46 for the next Passover.
  • 10:47 If they remain spotless, they will be sacrificed,
  • 10:49 which will plunge us into the timeline of the third temple.
  • 10:53 Kirsten: Unbelievable.
  • 10:54 I don't wanna use the word "plunge" again but we're gonna
  • 10:56 go to or plunge ourselves right back
  • 10:58 into this prophetic conference.
  • 11:00 Let's go there now.
  • 11:03 Moriel Bareli: For 2000 years,
  • 11:04 the red heifers actually have been nowhere to be found,
  • 11:08 haven't been heard of, no one's been speaking about them.
  • 11:12 And until now.
  • 11:13 And I think we all have to realize what time we're living
  • 11:17 in, that this subject and, of course,
  • 11:19 the subject of this whole convention,
  • 11:21 the subject of the third temple, it's all coming back to life,
  • 11:25 it's all on the table.
  • 11:26 Everybody's speaking about it, everybody's getting excited
  • 11:29 about it, and it's not just a sign.
  • 11:33 It's a big smack in the face that I think we all have to wake
  • 11:37 up, just like Rabbi Yehuda Glick was saying.
  • 11:40 We know we all need to wake up to understand this.
  • 11:45 So, what is the importance of the red heifers?
  • 11:47 What's the process? Why is it so hard to find them?
  • 11:49 And what's the plan for the future?
  • 11:52 So first of all, the importance of the red heifers.
  • 11:55 It's a purification process, it's not a sacrifice
  • 11:58 or an offering.
  • 12:00 The red heifer is burned on a mound of wood,
  • 12:04 which is mixed with a few other things,
  • 12:06 red worm and hyssop branches and all of the ashes of the wood and
  • 12:12 the heifer is mixed with water and then sprinkled upon the
  • 12:15 people, and the people are ritually purified
  • 12:18 of corpse impurity.
  • 12:20 There are certain levels of impurity,
  • 12:22 according to the Torah, and for corpse impurity the only way to
  • 12:25 be purified is by using the ashes of the red heifer.
  • 12:29 We have some amazing stories about how we found the five red
  • 12:31 heifers that were found in Texas.
  • 12:35 Just one quick story.
  • 12:37 The guys went out into the field on one of the farms,
  • 12:40 and they were searching and searching and they couldn't find
  • 12:42 a red heifer according to all the qualifications and then they
  • 12:44 stopped under a tree to pray.
  • 12:47 And they were praying, and they finished praying,
  • 12:49 they went around the tree, and they saw a mama red cow giving
  • 12:53 birth on the spot to a pure red heifer and they said,
  • 12:55 "Everybody stop. Nobody move.
  • 12:57 Don't touch it. Don't do anything.
  • 12:59 Don't tag it in the ear."
  • 13:01 And I think even the guy who was in charge of tagging,
  • 13:04 he was out because of COVID or something like that,
  • 13:06 they had a--it was just all miraculous, all these stories.
  • 13:09 John Enarson: When news broke of the airlift of kosher red
  • 13:11 heifers not long ago, coming to Israel,
  • 13:14 I wrote that "sadly, a segment of the church will have
  • 13:17 knee-jerk reactions to news of red heifers.
  • 13:20 That's because the lack of a temple is the last and desperate
  • 13:24 stand of replacement theology.
  • 13:27 The destruction of the temple was viewed by the later church
  • 13:29 as conclusive proof that the old covenant was dead and that it
  • 13:34 was superseded by something radically redefined.
  • 13:37 In fact, according to the New Testament,
  • 13:40 there is no conflict between the temple sacrifices and the
  • 13:43 gospel, none at all.
  • 13:46 Instead, they illustrate it.
  • 13:48 For Christians, sacrifices before Jesus pointed forward to
  • 13:52 Golgotha and afterward, they point back to it.
  • 13:56 It's really that simple.
  • 13:58 Jesus has indeed, quote, "offered for all time a single
  • 14:01 sacrifice for sins."
  • 14:03 But that was never in conflict with the temple.
  • 14:06 Hebrews 10:4 clarifies that it was always impossible for the
  • 14:10 blood of bulls and goats to take away sins in order to save
  • 14:13 someone's eternal soul.
  • 14:15 But they do serve other important functions.
  • 14:18 The New Testament specifically mentions the ashes
  • 14:21 of the red heifer.
  • 14:22 It endorses their legitimacy in the present tense of the author,
  • 14:28 and it states that the ashes certainly continued to remove
  • 14:31 ritual impurity of the physical body,
  • 14:33 in Hebrews 9:13.
  • 14:35 It argues that this very truth should encourage
  • 14:38 our faith in Jesus.
  • 14:40 Caleb: Thank you to Cry For Zion for allowing us to use the
  • 14:42 footage from this Temple Conference and,
  • 14:45 guys, these topics are polarizing for any Christians
  • 14:48 and Jews alike.
  • 14:49 Just the topic of sacrifices and third temple,
  • 14:53 you know it's okay if you don't support the third temple.
  • 14:55 I know I don't personally because I want more time to
  • 14:58 bring the lost to Yeshua before the end times begins.
  • 15:01 So, it's--we're hearing differing perspectives but
  • 15:04 they're unique and we need to know all sides of the aisle
  • 15:07 before we, you know, solidify, "This is where we stand."
  • 15:10 But the Word of God's most important where you need to
  • 15:12 stand and we know Yeshua has already come.
  • 15:15 He is the last sacrifice so that's good enough for me.
  • 15:18 But let's go back to this conference and hear from more
  • 15:21 voices and more interviews concerning the third temple.
  • 15:25 Caleb: Next up, an interesting interview with in
  • 15:27 which John Enarson, Christian host of the Convention,
  • 15:30 speaks with Jewish news reporter,
  • 15:32 Adam Berkowitz, who has studied Jewish law for 7 years.
  • 15:36 Mr. Berkowitz responds now to a question about the recent
  • 15:39 interest regarding a coming temple.
  • 15:41 Adam Berkowitz: I think there's a lot of misconceptions
  • 15:43 about what's going to be happening in the end of days in
  • 15:47 Christianity, in Judaism too, as well.
  • 15:50 And there's a lot of narrischkeit.
  • 15:51 John: Narrischkeit, it's a new word we need
  • 15:53 to understand in Christianity.
  • 15:55 Adam: I've been--the more knowledgeable Christians and
  • 15:59 even the more faithful ones, they are supporting it and I
  • 16:03 think it's coming from looking at what's happening and saying,
  • 16:06 "Hm, what is this?"
  • 16:08 You know, there's got to be a high level
  • 16:09 of intellectual honesty.
  • 16:11 If you come to Israel with open eyes,
  • 16:13 if you read the Old Testament with open eyes,
  • 16:17 you're gonna find that it's not what you thought.
  • 16:21 And that's, I think, an interesting experience for a lot
  • 16:23 of Christians.
  • 16:25 And they--and those are the ones I think who support us.
  • 16:27 Also I wanted to say, it's a new thing for Jews.
  • 16:31 So we're getting--I mean, and it's like we've been studying
  • 16:34 this forever, you know, but there's also--and it's very
  • 16:40 connected to the land of Israel.
  • 16:41 There's also a lot of rejection by Orthodox Jews,
  • 16:45 especially Jews in America, but even Jews in Israel,
  • 16:48 who, you know, they're like, "Oh, what do you wanna do?
  • 16:51 Bring back the temple?"
  • 16:53 Well, I don't want to but the Bible happens to talk about it
  • 16:55 an awful lot, so I don't really have a choice.
  • 16:58 And they somehow manage to overlook that.
  • 17:01 Luke Hilton: If you are a Christian who believes in the
  • 17:02 Bible, then one of the premises of our faith should be we should
  • 17:08 look to Jesus and look to his disciples as our example of how
  • 17:12 we should live our faith, right?
  • 17:14 Well, guess what?
  • 17:16 Jesus had a passion for the temple,
  • 17:18 and had a passion for the Temple Mount,
  • 17:20 and so did his disciples, even after he left.
  • 17:23 John: Jesus himself, as we have said before at this
  • 17:26 Convention, loved God's temple and called it
  • 17:28 the Father's house.
  • 17:30 He wept at the very thought of its desolation.
  • 17:33 And Paul had no problems bringing sin offerings in the
  • 17:38 temple in Acts chapter 21.
  • 17:40 And then he testified repeatedly on trial that he came to bring
  • 17:44 sacrifices at the temple in Jerusalem and that he was
  • 17:47 purified by the ashes of the red heifer and he committed no
  • 17:51 offense against the temple.
  • 17:53 This is from Acts 24 through 25.
  • 17:57 The evidence in Acts is clear and overwhelming.
  • 18:00 Moriel Bareli: We know that in the end of the day,
  • 18:02 it's HaShem who does everything, but we are his soldiers,
  • 18:04 we are the ones who are supposed to take action and do whatever
  • 18:08 we can in order to bring the redemption closer.
  • 18:11 If it's regarding the Temple Mount,
  • 18:12 if it's regarding the red heifers,
  • 18:14 which of course are connected because the whole purification
  • 18:16 process is to be able to go up to Bethel M'Kadesh and bring
  • 18:21 offerings and sacrifices and go up to the places where we cannot
  • 18:24 go up to because we're ritually impure.
  • 18:27 Doron Keidar: God, I believe, is pushing our nation.
  • 18:29 He is pushing the narrative.
  • 18:31 He's the one that inspired our prophets.
  • 18:34 He's the one that restored us to our land and he's the one who's
  • 18:36 gonna bring about his will in this land, period.
  • 18:39 Irregardless of who's the prime minister,
  • 18:41 who's the defense minister, et cetera.
  • 18:44 And I believe we're living in such a time as this,
  • 18:47 that this is what's happening and if you're not a part of that
  • 18:50 narrative, you're going to freak out.
  • 18:52 Yehuda: And then we'll be able to say to HaShem,
  • 18:54 "HaShem, we did not forget Zion.
  • 18:56 We did not forget Zion.
  • 18:58 We want now you arise and illuminate this world with your
  • 19:05 godly light from Zion, from your place,
  • 19:10 our King, appear and rule over us because we are
  • 19:15 waiting for you.
  • 19:16 When will you rule from Zion?
  • 19:18 Near in our near days, your name will be great and sanctified in
  • 19:24 your city Jerusalem because we are waiting for you,
  • 19:28 and we want to see it with our own eyes,
  • 19:31 your kingdom as it was promised in the words of your prophets,
  • 19:36 in the words of your poet David, in the words of your Messiah,
  • 19:40 and we will say together, "HaShem shall [audio error]
  • 19:43 rule over the world forever and ever,
  • 19:45 the God of Zion," and at that day he will be one
  • 19:49 and his name will be one and we together will all be
  • 19:53 united around the one and only One,
  • 19:57 [speaking in Hebrew]
  • 19:59 David: I don't know about Kirsten but I thought that the
  • 20:02 third temple is a good thing.
  • 20:04 But I think you can correct us, or me, on that, yes?
  • 20:07 Caleb: Well, there are two temples to come, guys.
  • 20:09 The third temple is actually the Tribulation temple.
  • 20:11 The fourth temple is the Millennial temple that Messiah
  • 20:14 will rule and reign from, and here's the problem.
  • 20:16 Zechariah 6:12 through 13 says that the Messiah will build the
  • 20:19 temple and rule and reign from there.
  • 20:21 So the Jews of now are waiting for who's gonna build that next
  • 20:24 temple and he will be the Messiah to them,
  • 20:26 but we know, according to prophecy,
  • 20:28 it's not gonna be Yeshua that builds the next temple;
  • 20:30 it's gonna be a false prophet.
  • 20:32 Joshua: That's pretty crazy.
  • 20:33 Well, Mark Hitchcock, you got a chance to sit down with him,
  • 20:36 an amazing teacher on prophecy.
  • 20:38 Tell us about that.
  • 20:39 Caleb: Well, he's been in this whole series.
  • 20:41 We're promoting his book, "The End," and I got to sit down with
  • 20:44 him for one final discussion on prophecy.
  • 20:48 Mark Hitchcock: Yeah, we live in the time,
  • 20:50 right now, of the church age.
  • 20:52 And my view is, like in Matthew 24,
  • 20:54 you see these birth pains that are mentioned,
  • 20:56 that are really in the Tribulation period.
  • 20:58 What I like to say now is we're seeing
  • 21:01 Braxton Hicks contractions.
  • 21:03 Now, these are kind of the premature labor pains that are
  • 21:05 kind of leading to what's ultimately gonna come during
  • 21:08 that time of Tribulation.
  • 21:09 But the event that really sets all of the end times into motion
  • 21:12 is gonna be the Rapture of the church.
  • 21:14 When that event takes place, you know,
  • 21:16 it's gonna be the greatest event in human history,
  • 21:17 really, since the Flood.
  • 21:18 You just think about, you know, millions of people,
  • 21:20 maybe billions of people, they're gone,
  • 21:22 they've vanished in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye.
  • 21:25 The Rapture's gonna be an earth-shaking,
  • 21:27 earth-shattering event that I think probably too will be the
  • 21:31 greatest evangelic tool in human history,
  • 21:33 'cause people everywhere disappear.
  • 21:35 So it's really the key to all these events that follow
  • 21:38 in the end times.
  • 21:39 Caleb: So why is it important for people
  • 21:41 to study Bible prophecy?
  • 21:42 Why is it necessary for us to follow those words in the Bible?
  • 21:45 Some people think, "It doesn't have to do with me.
  • 21:47 If I'm gonna be gone, what does it matter?"
  • 21:50 Mark: Well, Bible prophecy has a lot of practical
  • 21:52 application for our lives.
  • 21:53 It has a purifying effect.
  • 21:55 If we really believe that Jesus can come at any moment,
  • 21:57 it's gonna change how we live.
  • 21:59 It also--Bible prophecy gives us confidence because we know that
  • 22:03 since the Bible has predicted hundreds of things that have
  • 22:05 come to pass, we know that the things it predicts for the
  • 22:08 future will come to pass.
  • 22:09 Now, we can know what's gonna happen in the future.
  • 22:12 Not because we know it, but because God has predicted these
  • 22:14 things, so it gives a comfort to our lives and a confidence to
  • 22:18 live a life that's pleasing to God.
  • 22:20 Caleb: Everybody wants to know what's happening next,
  • 22:21 but God gave us the end to our story, and it's a good end.
  • 22:25 But we still need to be prepared.
  • 22:26 And I believe in Revelation it says: "Blessed are those who
  • 22:29 study the words of this book."
  • 22:31 There's a blessing imparted to us if we do that, as well.
  • 22:34 Mark: That's right.
  • 22:35 It's the only blessing-- it's the only book with
  • 22:36 that kind of blessing.
  • 22:38 It's called--we often call it the blessing book,
  • 22:39 the book of Revelation.
  • 22:41 You know, the one who reads it, the one who hears,
  • 22:42 the one who does the things commanded in this book is gonna
  • 22:45 be blessed.
  • 22:46 Caleb: I believe it's a good witnessing tool,
  • 22:47 especially to the Jewish people to sow specifically,
  • 22:50 even in Matthew 24, Yeshua was telling the Jewish people,
  • 22:54 "This is what happens to you."
  • 22:55 We don't read, "This is what happens to America," in it.
  • 22:58 "This is what happens to Israel," and to me,
  • 23:00 that's the strongest witness.
  • 23:02 "Hey, my brethren, you wanna know what happens
  • 23:04 to your future?
  • 23:06 It's written in the book."
  • 23:07 Mark: That's right, and that's why we have to take these
  • 23:09 prophecies literally.
  • 23:10 Because the Jewish people, there's a lot of prophecies that
  • 23:13 have been given to Israel that have been literally fulfilled.
  • 23:16 Now, if we take these prophecies in the future and that we say,
  • 23:19 "Well, those aren't gonna be literally fulfilled," we have no
  • 23:20 basis to really witness to a Jewish person.
  • 23:23 But we tell 'em, "Look, these-- all these prophecies have
  • 23:25 been literally fulfilled in your history, in your past."
  • 23:27 You know, there are about 1000 prophecies in the Bible.
  • 23:29 I talk about that here in the book.
  • 23:30 Caleb: Yeah, I read that, yeah.
  • 23:32 Mark: And--but about 500 have been fulfilled.
  • 23:34 So, yeah, the Bible has quite a track record.
  • 23:37 An unbelievable track record. That's a thousand.
  • 23:39 We have all these unfulfilled prophecies and,
  • 23:41 you're right, many of them have to do with Israel,
  • 23:43 with the Jewish people, and their future.
  • 23:45 And so it's a great evangelistic tool for them.
  • 23:47 But for Gentiles as well.
  • 23:49 People want hope in our world today.
  • 23:50 They wanna know that there's gonna be a better world,
  • 23:53 and we can tell them with full confidence in the Bible,
  • 23:56 the best is yet to come.
  • 23:58 And it may not be in this life, but it will be certainly in the
  • 24:01 life to come.
  • 24:02 Caleb: I agree.
  • 24:03 What would you say to believers in Messiah now?
  • 24:06 What should we be doing in knowledge of Bible prophecy,
  • 24:09 the events, the turmoil we see in the world,
  • 24:12 what should we be doing as believers in Messiah to prepare?
  • 24:15 Mark: Mm-hm, well, you know, I think a lot of things.
  • 24:17 One, I kind of mentioned earlier,
  • 24:18 live a pure life, you know, live a godly life.
  • 24:20 Be serving.
  • 24:21 Be finding a place of service to live for the Lord.
  • 24:23 Be--have a sense of urgency about sharing
  • 24:25 the gospel with people.
  • 24:27 We don't know when the end's gonna come.
  • 24:28 You know, it's sad a lot of us kind of live like universalists.
  • 24:32 We kind of almost live as if everybody's just gonna be okay
  • 24:34 and be saved.
  • 24:35 We don't believe that, but we kind of practically live that
  • 24:38 way sometimes, and we need to live as if we really believe
  • 24:41 there is a real heaven, there is a real hell,
  • 24:43 that there's salvation only through Jesus Christ,
  • 24:46 and so we need to live with that sense of urgency.
  • 24:49 Now, we need to be generous with our resources.
  • 24:52 Obviously, if Jesus can come at any moment,
  • 24:54 we wanna be--have our money out there in circulation
  • 24:57 and not just hoard it.
  • 24:58 And obviously we save and we're wise with money,
  • 25:00 but there's--it really affects every area of life.
  • 25:03 So, prophecy's not, you know, one person used to say it's kind
  • 25:07 of, you know, pie in the sky, sweet by and by kind of stuff.
  • 25:10 And a lot of pastors today won't--don't talk about it
  • 25:12 because they say, "I wanna talk to people about here and now.
  • 25:15 Kind of how to live your life now.
  • 25:16 We don't wanna to get into that," but all the passages,
  • 25:19 the main passages, in the New Testament related to prophecy,
  • 25:22 all have practical application related to them.
  • 25:24 So, there's nothing more practical than Bible prophecy
  • 25:27 for daily living.
